The Covell Street School (or Joslin Multi-Service Center) is an historic school building at 231 Amherst Street in Providence, Rhode Island. It is a two-story wood-frame structure built in a typically elaborate Queen Anne style. Although it is basically rectangular in plan, its roofline and exterior are busy, with a complicated group of cross gables, hip-roof sections, with projecting and recessed sections. A three-story square tower rises from the center of the main facade. Built in 1885 and opened in 1886, it is one of Providence's last surviving 19th-century neighborhood school buildings. It was designed by the local firm of William R. Walker & Son, designers of many Rhode Island civic buildings. The builders were John L. Sprague & Company.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Olneyville is a neighborhood in Providence, Rhode Island bordered by Atwells Avenue to the north, U.S. Route 6 to the south and Rhode Island Route 10 to the east. The Woonasquatucket River runs through the southern portion of the neighborhood. The area is roughly triangular. Olneyville Square is a major traffic intersection in Olneyville, defined by the intersection of Westminster Street, Broadway, Hartford Ave, Plainfield Street, and Manton Avenue.

The Rochambeau Worsted Company Mill is a historic textile mill complex at 60 King Street in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. Set between King Street and the Woonasquatucket River, it is a three-story brick-clad steel frame structure, built about 1923. It was the third mill in Rhode Island in which a French system of textile processing was implemented. The business was established in 1922 by the Lepoutre Brothers, French immigrants who had first begun operations at the Lafayette Worsted Company in Woonsocket, and operated until 1956. It was thereafter occupied by the Imperial Knife Company, which operated here until 1987, manufacturing tableware.The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

The Wilbury Theatre Group is a nonprofit theatre located in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. It is known for its experimental theater and its annual fringe festival, FringePVD. Wilbury Theatre Group was founded in 2010. The name is a reference to the Traveling Wilburys. After years performing in warehouses and unconventional performance spaces throughout Providence, the group became the theatre company in residence at the Southside Cultural Center in 2013. The group moved from the Southside Cultural Center to its own space in Olneyville in 2017. They moved again in 2021 to the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence's Valley Arts District. The group's artistic director, Josh Short, has been with the Wilbury Theatre since it began. Since its founding, the Wilbury Theatre Group has produced over 100 shows. Productions have included Fun Home, Spring Awakening, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, and works by prominent Rhode Island artists like Darcie Dennigan, Christopher Johnson, Vanessa Gilbert, and Vatic Kuumba, and Rebecca Noon.The theater also supports the creation of new works through its Studio W program, offers acting classes, actor and playwright residencies, and community outreach. The Wilbury Theatre Group started Rhode Island's fringe festival, FringePVD, in 2014. It is the largest fringe theater festival in New England.

The Rising Sun Mill, formerly the National and Providence Worsted Mills, are a historic textile mill complex located at 166 Valley Street in Providence, Rhode Island. The complex consists of thirteen brick and stone structures, ranging in height from one to four stories, located on the banks of the Woonasquatucket River in the Olneyville neighborhood of the city. Most of them were built between 1880 and 1890, with a small number from 1907 and later. The National and Providence Company and its successors operated here from 1881 into the 1950s, a time period when Providence was a leading manufacturer of worsted wool material.The mills were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Earnscliffe Woolen-Paragon Worsted Company Mill Complex (M&F Worsted; Artcraft Braid; Cathedral Art Metal Co.) is a historic mill at 25 and 39 Manton Avenue in Providence, Rhode Island. It consists of a grouping of eleven industrial buildings on 4.4 acres (1.8 ha) in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, on the banks of the Woonasquatucket River. The buildings were built between 1898 and about 1939. Building 1, the oldest building, began in 1898 as a two-story rectangular brick structure with a three-story tower and a monitor roof, but was expanded over the years, obscuring both the tower and the monitor. The complex was begun by the Earnscliff Woolen Company, which failed in 1909. The Paragon Worsted Company purchased the property, and operated on the premises until 1960, when the company closed the mill.The mill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Providence Dyeing, Bleaching, Calendring Company (or Valley Bleachery) is an historic industrial complex located at 46,50,52,60 Valley Street and 80 Delaine Street in Providence, Rhode Island. It consists of 18 small-to-medium-sized brick and stone structures in a parcel 4 acres (1.6 ha) in size, between Valley Street and the Woonasquatucket River. Although most of these buildings were constructed between 1900 and 1920, the oldest building in the complex is a single-story rubble stone structure which may contain elements of an 18th-century mill structure, and is known to have achieved its present form around 1837. The original water privilege for this mill site was granted to Christopher Olney in 1773 for a paper mill.The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Fort Thunder (1995–2001) was a warehouse on the second floor of a pre-Civil War former textile factory in the Olneyville district of Providence, Rhode Island. From 1995 through 2001, the space was used as a venue for underground music and events, as well as a living and working space for the artists. Fort Thunder was started by Mat Brinkman and Brian Chippendale, who were the space's original residents along with Rob Coggeshal and Freddy Jones. Fort Thunder was known for its colorful posters promoting shows posted on walls around Providence. At various times they hosted costumed wrestling and Halloween mazes. The group of artists who lived and worked there is also sometimes referred to as "Fort Thunder." In 2000 it was announced that the mill building where Fort Thunder was located would be demolished. This led to protests and court challenges by both artists and historical preservationists. In 2002 the collective was forced to leave. The building was then demolished by Feldco developers to make way for the parking lot of a Shaw's grocery store and a Staples, both of which closed soon after opening. This has caused a debate about development and gentrification in Olneyville, the poorest neighborhood in Providence.Since the closure of Fort Thunder, former residents and friends of Fort Thunder have received acclaim in many areas, particularly in the genres of noise rock, alternative comics, and contemporary art. Members of Forcefield, a collaborative project started at Fort Thunder, had their artwork included in the 2002 Whitney Biennial. In 2006, the Museum of Art at Rhode Island School of Design exhibited Wunderground: Providence, 1995 to the Present, an exhibition focusing on the underground art and music scene of Providence, with major reference to and inclusion of artists connected to Fort Thunder. The Rhode Island Council for the Humanities held an exhibition in 2019 featuring Fort Thunder concert posters, recordings of bands, and ephemera.

The Plain Farm House is an historic house in Providence, Rhode Island. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, five bays wide, with a central entry flanked by sidelight windows and topped by a semi-elliptical fan. The house was probably built in the early 19th century, based on its Federal styling, and on the opening of the nearby Norwick Pike (now Plainfield Street, Rhode Island Route 14) in 1803. At the time of its construction the area was part of Johnston, and was annexed to Providence in 1898. Once the main house of a large farm, it is now surrounded by residential development.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Weybosset Mills Complex is a historic industrial site in the Olneyville section of Providence, Rhode Island. It consists of nine historic brick factory buildings, located on three city blocks west of Rhode Island Route 10 and north of United States Route 6, just northwest of their junction. The three blocks are bounded on the south by Magnolia Street, and on the east by railroad tracks paralleling Route 10. The southern two blocks end at Agnes and Oak Streets, while the northerly block is bounded on the west by Troy Street and the north by Dike Street. The oldest building in the complex is a three-story brick boiler house built c. 1836. Although the origins of this mill complex were as a cotton mill, the Weybosset Corporation purchased it in 1864, and transformed it into one of the nation's major producers of worsted wool products.The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 10, 2008.

The American Brewing Company Plant, owned by the American Brewing Company, is a historic brewery complex at 431 Harris Avenue in Providence, Rhode Island that operated between 1892 and 1922. It is a well-preserved example of a state of the art late 19th century brewery building, its original functions still discernible in its layout. It was only used as a brewery until 1922, when it was shut down by Prohibition; it has served as a warehouse and storage facility for most of the time since. The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
