Cross o' th' Hands

Turnditch is a village and civil parish in the Amber Valley district of Derbyshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 Census was 301. It is around 10 miles (16 km) north of Derby on the A517 road from Belper to Ashbourne. It is built on both sides of the road halfway up the steep climb out of the Ecclesbourne Valley. Nearer to the brow of the hill is a place known as Cross o' th' Hands. In Norman times it was within Duffield Frith and part of the manor of Duffield. The Church of All Saints was built in the 13th century as a chapel of ease to Duffield, while a Congregational chapel with a Sunday school was erected in 1818.

Admiral Sir Frederick Samuel Inglefield, (29 April 1854 – 8 August 1921) was a Royal Navy officer who served as Fourth Sea Lord, was appointed as a Grand Officer of the Order of the Crown of Italy and commanded auxiliary patrol forces in World War I. After retirement he was a Deputy Lieutenant of Derbyshire.

Ravensdale Park is a civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire roughly 3 miles (5 km) WSW of Belper, Derbyshire, England, midway between Turnditch and Brailsford. The population of the civil parish as taken at the 2011 Census was less than 100. Details are included in the South Derbyshire civil parish of Dalbury Lees. It originated as one of the seven royal parks within Duffield Frith. In time it was the location of the chief hunting lodge for the Frith, and there are frequent entries in the records of the Duchy of Lancaster referring to it. John of Gaunt visited frequently. Parts of the former deer park are designated as a scheduled monument.

Shottle railway station is the second intermediate station on the former Midland Railway branch line to the small town of Wirksworth in Derbyshire. The line is off the Midland Main Line at Duffield railway station, the first being Hazelwood. Shottle Railway station was reopened on 9 August 2014, by the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.

Cowers Lane is a settlement in Derbyshire bordering Shottle, within the civil parish of Shottle and Postern, near Belper, Derbyshire England along the A517 road. In Norman times, Shottle Park was one of the seven parks within Duffield Frith.It was the site of a large shelter for cattle belonging to the Duchy of Lancaster who owned the Frith. It is generally believed that the name is the local dialect equivalent of "Cow House Lane".

Windley is a small village and civil parish in Derbyshire, England, around 6 miles (10 km) north of Derby, adjacent to the B5023 Duffield to Wirksworth road. The civil parish population as taken at the 2011 Census was 148.It was formerly part of the parish of Duffield within Duffield Frith. During the reign of Henry III the Mynors, of the manor of Windle-hill in Sutton-on-the-Hill, Ashbourne also had lands in Windley.Sir Roger Mynor was High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1514, Sergeant of the King's Cellar, an official of Duffield Frith under the Duchy of Lancaster and a Commissioner of Peace for the County of Derby. He, with his lady, has a magnificent table-tomb in St. Alkmunds Church, Duffield.
