Preston Park, Roanoke, Virginia

Huntingdon is a historic plantation house located at Roanoke, Virginia. It was built about 1819, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay, Federal style brick dwelling. It has a central-passage-plan and an integral two-story rear ell. The front and side elevations feature mid-19th century Greek Revival style porches. The house was restored and improved in 1988–1989. Also on the property is a contributing family cemetery and an outbuilding believed to have been a slave house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Harshbarger House is a historic home located at Hollins, Roanoke County, Virginia. It is a two-story dwelling consisting of a late 18th-century, stone, two-story, one-room section with an early 19th-century brick addition. The stone section was built in 1797, and the brick section was added about 1825. A kitchen is attached to the main house by a modern addition.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Roundhill is a Roanoke, Virginia neighborhood located in northwest Roanoke. It borders the neighborhoods of Airport on the north, Williamson Road on the south, Preston Park on the east, and Fairland, Melrose-Rugby and Washington Park on the west opposite Interstate 581.

Monterey is a neighborhood located in northeastern Roanoke, Virginia, in the United States. It is the most northeastern neighborhood within the city. It is bordered by the neighborhoods of Preston Park on the west, Eastgate on the east, Hollins on the south, and by Roanoke County to the north. Originally included as part of Roanoke County, Wildwood was annexed by the city in 1976. Predominantly rural prior to its annexation, growth within the neighborhood has been suburban in nature since the 1970s.

Valley View Mall is an 800,000-square-foot (74,000 m2) regional shopping mall located in the Roundhill neighborhood of Roanoke, Virginia. It is located near the interchange of Interstate 581/U.S. Route 220 with Hershberger Road (State Route 101) in the northwest section of the city. Most outparcel locations around Valley View Mall have been developed into restaurants, retail stores, offices, and hotels. Major surrounding stores include Ashley Furniture, Dick's Sporting Goods, Best Buy, Grand Home Furnishings, Walmart, and Target. Regal Cinemas has a 16 screen movie theater with stadium seating at an outparcel location, which replaced a smaller six screen cinema inside the mall.

Old Tombstone, also known as the Denton Monument, is a folk art tombstone listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register in the town of Hollins, Virginia, United States. Located in the Tombstone Cemetery, just east of Plantation Road (Virginia State Route 115), Old Tombstone is noted for its folk art elements as being unique to Southwest Virginia.

Hollins is a Roanoke, Virginia neighborhood located in eastern Roanoke, immediately to the west of Tinker Creek. It borders the neighborhoods of Preston Park and Williamson Road on the west, Monterey, Eastgate and Wildwood on the east across Tinker Creek, and Fallon on the south. Its public education is at Northside High School. The extreme southeast corner of the neighborhood also is bounded by the town of Vinton. This neighborhood should not be confused with the Census Designated Place called Hollins in Roanoke County.

Hollins is a census-designated place (CDP) in Botetourt and Roanoke County, Virginia, United States. Hollins covers much of the area known locally as "North County". The population was 15,574 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Roanoke Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area is also the home of Hollins University in addition to four properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places: the Black Horse Tavern-Bellvue Hotel and Office, Harshbarger House, the Hollins College Quadrangle, and Old Tombstone.

Carlin's Amoco Station is a historic Amoco service station located at Roanoke, Virginia. It was built about 1947, and remodeled about 1953 in the Streamline Moderne style. The one-story gas station is constructed of concrete block covered with stucco and sits on a concrete slab foundation. Also on the property is an associated repair shop constructed about 1947.Built on Williamson Road in Roanoke, the gas station was a scene of viewing muscle car drag racing and cruising by local teenagers in the post-war years between 1947 and 1962.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Washington Park is a neighborhood located in central Roanoke, Virginia, that initially developed in the 1920s as an early Roanoke suburb. It borders the neighborhoods of Roundhill on the north and Williamson Road on the north and east, Gainsboro and Harrison on the south, and Melrose-Rugby on the west. Its northern and eastern boundary is concurrent with Interstate 581, and its southern boundary is concurrent with U.S. Route 460 (Orange Avenue). As of the 2000 census, Harrison had a population of 1,254 residents, with 531 households.

Monterey is a historic plantation house located at Roanoke, Virginia. It was built about 1845, and is a two-story, banked, Greek Revival style brick dwelling with a spreading hipped roof. Two additions were made to the original house after 1871, which gives it an "L"-shape. The front facade features a full-width verandah style porch and the rear has a two-story gallery. Also on the property is a contributing smoke house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.It is owned by George Kegley, and sits on 116 acres of protected land. Mr and Mrs Kegley protected the land and home through a conservation easement with the Virginia Outdoors Foundation in cooperation with the Western Virginia Land Trust. The farm will be forever situated with just a few neighbors and two golf courses, one on either border of the protected area. It is the only easement on private land within Roanoke City limits. Mr Kegley, 90 at the time of this edit, (Apr. 19), is still very active at the young age of 90. Mr Kegley is almost a full-time volunteer, working with the Historical Society of Western Virginia, Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation, Blue Ridge Literacy Volunteers, RAM House, Rescue Mission, St.Mark's Lutheran Church food pantry and a Lutheran summer camping program, in addition to Blue Ridge Land Conservancy. Mrs. Kegley, Louise, died in January 2018 at the age of 85. The two were married for nearly 60 years at the time of her death.

Airport is a Roanoke, Virginia neighborhood located in north, central Roanoke surrounded roughly by Virginia State Route 118 to the south and by Interstate 581 to the west, centered on the Roanoke Regional Airport. It borders the neighborhoods of Miller Court/Arrowood on the west, Roundhill on the south and Roanoke County on the north and east.
