Hollins is a Roanoke, Virginia neighborhood located in eastern Roanoke, immediately to the west of Tinker Creek. It borders the neighborhoods of Preston Park and Williamson Road on the west, Monterey, Eastgate and Wildwood on the east across Tinker Creek, and Fallon on the south. Its public education is at Northside High School. The extreme southeast corner of the neighborhood also is bounded by the town of Vinton. This neighborhood should not be confused with the Census Designated Place called Hollins in Roanoke County.

The population was 15,574 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Roanoke Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area is also the home of Hollins University in addition to four properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places: the Black Horse Tavern-Bellvue Hotel and Office, Harshbarger House, the Hollins College Quadrangle, and Old Tombstone.

Botetourt Springs (originally: Sulphur Spring Tract) is a mineral spring and was a historical settlement on the border of Roanoke County, Virginia and Botetourt County, Virginia, United States. The spring is located 12 mi (19 km) from Fincastle. Botetourt Springs was originally settled in the mid-18th century, growing as a mineral spring resort during the summer, especially after the 1820s.In its time, it was one of the best known mineral springs in Virginia, and one of the chief sulphuric thermal springs in America. Notable visitors included General Andrew Jackson and General Lafayette.

Hollins University is a private university in Hollins, Virginia. Founded in 1842 as Valley Union Seminary in the historical settlement of Botetourt Springs, it is one of the oldest institutions of higher education for women in the United States. Hollins enrolls about 800 undergraduate and graduate students. As Virginia's first chartered women's college, undergraduate programs are female-only. Men are admitted to the graduate-level programs. Hollins is known for its undergraduate and graduate writing programs, which have produced Pulitzer Prize-winning authors Annie Dillard, former U.S. poet laureate Natasha Trethewey, and Henry S. Taylor. Other prominent alumnae include pioneering sportswriter Mary Garber, 2006 Man Booker Prize winner Kiran Desai, UC-Berkeley's first tenured female physicist (and a principal contributor to theories for detecting the Higgs boson) Mary K. Gaillard, Goodnight Moon author Margaret Wise Brown, author Lee Smith, photographer Sally Mann, and Ellen Malcolm, founder of EMILY's List.

Harshbarger House is a historic home located at Hollins, Roanoke County, Virginia. It is a two-story dwelling consisting of a late 18th-century, stone, two-story, one-room section with an early 19th-century brick addition. The stone section was built in 1797, and the brick section was added about 1825. A kitchen is attached to the main house by a modern addition.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Preston Park is a neighborhood located in northeast Roanoke, Virginia. It borders the neighborhoods of Williamson Road on the south, Monterey and Hollins on the east, and Roundhill and the Airport on the west. The northern border is shared with Roanoke County. The name of the neighborhood reflects the fact that the large park of the same name is located within the neighborhood.

Black Horse Tavern-Bellvue Hotel and Office is a historic inn and tavern complex located at Hollins, Roanoke County, Virginia. The complex consists of the Black Horse Tavern (c. 1782), the Greek Revival style Bellvue Hotel (also known as Kyle's Hotel) (c. 1854) and the temple-fronted, Greek Revival style brick Office (c. 1840). Other contributing resources on the property include a spring house (c. 1900) and a shed (c. 1930). The Black Horse Tavern is a simple, one story, three-bay log structure. The Bellvue Hotel is a two-story, five-bay, brick structure with a central-passage, double-pile plan. The office is a simple, one-story, one-bay brick structure. It features a wide frieze band and a front portico with a pedimented gable supported by squared Doric order columns. The buildings housed a school for physically and mentally handicapped children and the property became known as Bellevue School during the mid-20Ih century. The school closed in 1976, and the buildings house a single family residence.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Huntingdon is a historic plantation house located at Roanoke, Virginia. It was built about 1819, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay, Federal style brick dwelling. It has a central-passage-plan and an integral two-story rear ell. The front and side elevations feature mid-19th century Greek Revival style porches. The house was restored and improved in 1988–1989. Also on the property is a contributing family cemetery and an outbuilding believed to have been a slave house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Carvins Cove was a community in both Botetourt and Roanoke County, Virginia, United States, that was abandoned and subsequently inundated in order to create the Carvins Cove Reservoir by the City of Roanoke in the mid–1940s.

Airport is a Roanoke, Virginia neighborhood located in north, central Roanoke surrounded roughly by Virginia State Route 118 to the south and by Interstate 581 to the west, centered on the Roanoke Regional Airport. It borders the neighborhoods of Miller Court/Arrowood on the west, Roundhill on the south and Roanoke County on the north and east.

Monterey is a neighborhood located in northeastern Roanoke, Virginia, in the United States. It is the most northeastern neighborhood within the city. It is bordered by the neighborhoods of Preston Park on the west, Eastgate on the east, Hollins on the south, and by Roanoke County to the north. Originally included as part of Roanoke County, Wildwood was annexed by the city in 1976. Predominantly rural prior to its annexation, growth within the neighborhood has been suburban in nature since the 1970s.
