Oeschinenhorn

The Blüemlisalp is a massif of the Bernese Alps, in the territory of the municipalities of Kandersteg and Reichenbach im Kandertal. Its main peaks are: Blüemlisalphorn (3,661 m) Wyssi Frau (3,648 m) 46°29′35″N 7°47′0″E Morgenhorn (3,623 m) 46°29′46″N 7°47′28″EThe entire massif is contained within the canton of Berne, as it lies north of the main crest and water divide of the Bernese Alps. To the west, it is connected with the Doldenhorn group via the Oeschinenhorn and Fründenhorn peaks; to the east, it is continued by the Gspaltenhorn. To the south, it is connected to the main crest by the Tschingel Pass. Ascent is from the Blüemlisalphütte (2,840 m), over the glacier, past the Wildi Frau (3,260 m)

The Fründenhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Lake Oeschinen in the Bernese Oberland.

The Wildi Frau is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking the Hohtürli Pass in the Bernese Oberland. It lies between the valleys of Kandersteg and Kiental, north of the Blüemlisalp. It lies 60 km at the southwest of the capital, Bern. Its highest point is at 3,274 m (10,741 ft) above the sea level, or 140 m above the surrounding terrain. The width on its base is 0.65 km. The terrain around the Wildi Frau is mainly rocky. The nearest peak is the Wyssi Frau, at 3,650 m above the sea level, 1.4 km at the south of the Wildi Frau. The nearest community is Frutigen, 13.6 km at the northwest of Wildi Frau. The area around the Wildi Frau is permanently covered with ice and snow and very sparsely populated, with 6 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The Kander Neve (German: Kanderfirn) is a 6.6 km (4.1 mi) long glacier (2005) of the Bernese Alps, situated south of Kandersteg in the canton of Berne. The glacier lies at the upper end of the Gasterental, at the foot of the Blüemlisalp and the Tschingelhorn. It borders the valley of Lauterbrunnen on the east (Tschingel Pass) and the canton of Valais on the south (Petersgrat). In 1973 it had an area of 13.9 km2 (5.4 sq mi). The glacier feeds the head waters of the Kander, a river that flows into Lake Thun, and hence into the Aare and the Rhine.

The Hohtürli (Swiss German, literally means High Little Door) is a high Alpine hiking pass of the Bernese Alps. The pass crosses the col between the peaks of Wildi Frau and Dündenhorn, at an elevation of 2,778 m (9,114 ft).The pass is traversed by a hiking track, which connects the hamlet of Griesalp, at an elevation of 1,408 m (4,619 ft) in the upper Kiental south of Reichenbach im Kandertal, at the entrance of the Kiental, with Kandersteg, at an elevation of 1,174 m (3,852 ft) in the valley of the Kander, the Kandertal. The track forms part of the Alpine Pass Route, a long-distance hiking trail across Switzerland between Sargans and Montreux, and the Hohtürli is the highest pass crossed by that route.

The Doldenhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland. On its north side is Lake Oeschinen.

The Birghorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Bern and Valais. It lies on the range connecting the Lötschen Pass from the Tschingelhorn, separating the upper Gasterntal (Bernese Oberland) from the Lötschental (Valais).

Oeschinen Lake (German: Oeschinensee) is a lake in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) east of Kandersteg in the Oeschinen valley. At an elevation of 1,578 metres (5,177 ft), it has a surface area of 1.1147 square kilometres (0.4304 sq mi). Its maximum depth is 56 metres (184 ft). The lake was created by a giant landslide and is fed through a series of mountain creeks and drains underground. The water then resurfaces as the Oeschibach. Part of it is captured for electricity production and as water supply for Kandersteg. In observations from 1931 to 1965, the elevation of the lake surface varied between 1,566.09 metres (5,138.1 ft) and 1,581.9 metres (5,190 ft). The average seasonal variation was 12.2 metres (40 ft) (September/April). The lake is generally frozen during five months, from December to May. From time to time ice skating is possible on the ice. Fish in the lake include Arctic char (Seesaibling), lake trout (Kanadische Seeforelle), rainbow trout (Regenbogenforelle). From January to March, ice fishing is popular. A gondola lift from Kandersteg leads to Oeschinen, 25 minutes by foot from the lake. Since 2007 the lake is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn UNESCO World Heritage Site. As of summer 2021, a circumnavigation of Lake Oeschinen is not possible. The reason for this is the danger of an imminent rockfall on the south shore, which is why paths are closed there.

The Sackhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Bern and Valais. It lies on the range east of the Lötschen Pass, between the upper Gasterntal and the Lötschental. It lies approximately halfway between the Hockenhorn and the Birghorn.

The Petersgrat is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Bern and Valais. It consists of a large ridge, which is entirely covered by ice. The northern side belongs to the basin of the large Kander Glacier. On the southern side (Lötschental) the glacier is smaller and is named Tellingletscher. The Petersgrat is a popular destination for heliskiing and snow landing.

The Tschingel Pass (2,787 m) is a high mountain pass of the Bernese Alps, connecting Kandersteg with Stechelberg in the Bernese Oberland. It is the lowest pass between the upper Kandertal and the valley of Lauterbrunnen. The pass is glaciated and separated the Kander Glacier from the Tschingel Glacier. It lies between the Blüemlisalp and the Tschingelhorn and is overlooked by the Mutthorn.

The Dündenhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Lake Oeschinen in the Bernese Oberland. It lies between the valleys of Kandersteg and Kiental, to the west of the Hohtürli Pass that links the two valleys.
