Sielmingen

Filderstadt station (called Bernhausen station until 28 May 1983) is the end point of the railway from Stuttgart-Rohr. Line S 2 of the Stuttgart S-Bahn terminates here.

Bernhausen is a former municipality in the Esslingen district, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It was first recorded in year 1089 as Berinhusen. In 1975 it was merged with the municipalities Bonlanden, Plattenhardt, Sielmingen and Harthausen to form the new town Filderstadt. Bernhausen is today a quartier of that town, formally named Filderstadt-Bernhausen. It has 13,216 inhabitants. Line S2 of the Stuttgart S-Bahn terminates at Filderstadt station in Bernhausen.

Filderstadt (German pronunciation: [ˈfɪldɐˌʃtat] ; Swabian: Fildorsdadd) is a town in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. Filderstadt was created as a town in 1975 from five smaller villages called Bernhausen, Bonlanden, Plattenhardt, Sielmingen and Harthausen. From 1978 to 2005, it played host to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, a WTA Tier II event. Princess Claire of Luxembourg was born here on 21 March 1985. German writer Michael Ende, author of The Neverending Story, died in Filderstadt in 1995.

In 1975 it was merged with the municipalities Bernhausen, Plattenhardt, Sielmingen and Harthausen to form the new town Filderstadt. Bonlanden is today a quartier of Filderstadt, formally named Filderstadt-Bonlanden. It has 10,296 inhabitants.

Harthausen is a former municipality in the Esslingen district, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It was first recorded in year 1304 as Harthusen. In 1975 it was merged with the municipalities Bernhausen, Bonlanden, Plattenhardt, Sielmingen and Harthausen to form the new town Filderstadt. Harthausen is today a quartier of that town, formally named Filderstadt-Harthausen. It has 4,094 inhabitants.

Stuttgart Airport (German: Flughafen Stuttgart, formerly Flughafen Stuttgart-Echterdingen) (IATA: STR, ICAO: EDDS) is the international airport of Stuttgart, the capital of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is christened in honor of Stuttgart's former mayor, Manfred Rommel, son of Erwin Rommel, and is the sixth busiest airport in Germany with 11,832,634 passengers having passed through its doors in 2018. The facility covers approximately 400 hectares (1,000 acres), of which 190 hectares are green space.The airport is operated by Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH (FSG). It goes back to Luftverkehr Württemberg AG, which was founded in 1924 and initially operated Böblingen Airport. It is located approximately 13 km (8.1 mi) (10 km (6.2 mi) in a straight line) south of Stuttgart and lies on the boundary between the nearby town of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Filderstadt and Stuttgart itself. In 2007, the Messe Stuttgart convention center – the ninth biggest exhibition centre in Germany – moved to grounds directly next to the airport. Additionally, the global headquarters for car parking company APCOA Parking are located here.

Plattenhardt is a former municipality in the Esslingen district, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It was first recorded in year 1269 as Blatinhart. In 1975 it was merged with the municipalities Bernhausen, Bonlanden, Sielmingen and Harthausen to form the new town Filderstadt. Plattenhardt is today a quarter of Filderstadt, formally named Filderstadt-Plattenhardt. It has 8,482 inhabitants and is located 27 km from Stuttgart.

Plieningen is the southernmost borough (Stadtbezirk) of Stuttgart in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Plieningen is located about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from the city center of Stuttgart on the Filder Plain. Schloss Hohenheim, part of the Stuttgart Airport, and the parking garage for the Stuttgart Trade Fair are located here.

Aichtal (German: [ˈaɪçtaːl] ; Swabian: Oechtal) is a town in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It is located 18 km south of Stuttgart.It belongs to the Stuttgart Region (until 1992 Region Mittlerer Neckar) and the European Metropolitan Region Stuttgart. The municipality, which was created in 1975 as part of the municipal reform and consists of the three districts Grötzingen, Aich and Neuenhaus, has a population of around 10,000.

Neuhausen auf den Fildern is a municipality in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It is located 13 km southeast of Stuttgart. It is the birthplace of the Fortepiano builder Anton Walter.

The Filder (plural) – also Filder Plain (German: Filderebene) – is a natural region (major unit no. 106) of the Swabian Keuper-Lias Land within the South German Scarplands. They form a gently rolling, fertile plateau in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, which extends over the western half of the county of Esslingen and the southern part of the borough of the state capital of Stuttgart. Geologically it was formed by the transformation of a fault zone from the Lias period.
