The Landesarboretum Baden-Württemberg (16.5 hectares) is a historic arboretum and part of the Hohenheim Gardens maintained by the University of Hohenheim, on Garbenstrasse in the Hohenheim district of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The arboretum was begun as a landscape garden in the years 1776-1793 by Karl Eugen, Duke of Württemberg, on a site southwest of Schloss Hohenheim. It contained two major collections - a botanical garden of plants from the Württemberg region, and an arboretum of North American trees (the Exotischer Garten) - which by 1783 contained a total of 120 species. After the Duke's death in 1793, the garden was opened to the public, and during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries was used for cultivation of seedlings for the Duke's gardens, study of exotic trees for local forestry, and student botanical studies. The garden suffered substantial losses in 1930–31, after which its nursery was demolished and the garden returned to approximately its original state. In 1953 the former Exotischer Garten became the Landesarboretum Baden-Württemberg. Its collections were substantially enhanced beginning in 1996 when an adjacent 7.4 hectares were devoted to a new Hohenheimer Landschaftsgarten (Hohenheimer Landscape Garden), with first trees were planted in 1997 and an additional 200 plants added in 1998. Plantings have continued since. Today's arboretum comprises two linked sections, the old Exotischer Garten and the newer Hohenheimer Landschaftsgarten. Together they contain about 2450 taxa of deciduous and coniferous woody plants, representing 270 species from over 90 plant families. Particularly noteworthy are historic specimens dating to the arboretum's creation, including tulip trees planted in 1779, oaks (1790), and yellow buckeye (1799).

With an area of more than 30 hectares, the Hohenheim Gardens are the largest part of the campus of the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The oldest part of the garden, the Exotic Garden or Franziskas Dörfle, was established in 1776 by Duke Carl Eugen von Württemberg and Franziska von Hohenheim. Today, the Hohenheim Gardens are home to around 3000 taxa of woody plants as well as numerous monuments and works of art from four centuries. Over 150 woody plants are more than 100 years old. The Hohenheim Gardens are open all year round, all day and free of charge.

The University of Hohenheim (German: Universität Hohenheim) is a campus university located in the south of Stuttgart, Germany. Founded in 1818, it is Stuttgart's oldest university. Its primary areas of specialisation had traditionally been agricultural and natural sciences. Today, however, the majority of its students are enrolled in one of the many study programs offered by the faculty of business, economics and social sciences. The faculty has regularly been ranked among the best in the country, making the University of Hohenheim one of Germany's top-tier universities in these fields. The university maintains academic alliances with a number of partner universities and is involved in numerous joint research projects.

Hohenheim (German pronunciation: [ˈhoːənhaɪm]) is one of 18 outer quarters of the city of Stuttgart in the borough of Plieningen that sits on the Filder in central Baden-Württemberg. It was founded in 1782.

The original castle was a fief of the County of Württemberg, recorded for the 12th century. The estate fell into the possession of Charles Eugene, Duke of Württemberg in 1768, who had it re-built as a Rococo style manor with extensive gardens and residential palace for his future wife, Franziska von Hohenheim. The estate was the main ducal residence during 1772–1797, when it fell to the city of Stuttgart. An Agricultural Educational Testing and Model Institution was housed here in 1818, and the estate remains in use by the Horticulture and Agriculture Departments of the University of Hohenheim.

The Stuttgart Institute of Management and Technology (SIMT) was founded in 1998 as an international Business School and Further Education Institute offering both full-time and part-time programs leading to the academic degree "Master of Business Administration (MBA)" of the Universität Stuttgart. The cooperation of both higher education institutions also includes further education programs in the fields of Business Administration, Engineering, Natural and Social Sciences. SIMT is an advanced education institute of the Steinbeis University Berlin (SHB). The school is state accredited.In 1998 SIMT was founded as an international graduate school of management at university level in Stuttgart on the initiative of a number of renowned global players headquartered in the Stuttgart area, among them Bosch, Daimler, Agilent, Siemens and Trumpf. SIMT offers a practice- and team-oriented, state-accredited and internationally acknowledged Master of Business Administration (MBA) program - full-time and part-time - in English including an optional exchange program with renowned international partner universities.

Stuttgart Airport (German: Flughafen Stuttgart, formerly Flughafen Stuttgart-Echterdingen) (IATA: STR, ICAO: EDDS) is the international airport of Stuttgart, the capital of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is christened in honor of Stuttgart's former mayor, Manfred Rommel, son of Erwin Rommel, and is the sixth busiest airport in Germany with 11,832,634 passengers having passed through its doors in 2018. The facility covers approximately 400 hectares (1,000 acres), of which 190 hectares are green space.The airport is operated by Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH (FSG). It goes back to Luftverkehr Württemberg AG, which was founded in 1924 and initially operated Böblingen Airport. Since 2008, 65% of the operating company is owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg and 35% by the city of Stuttgart. It is located approximately 13 km (8.1 mi) (10 km (6.2 mi) in a straight line) south of Stuttgart and lies on the boundary between the nearby town of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Filderstadt and Stuttgart itself. In 2007, the Messe Stuttgart convention center – the ninth biggest exhibition centre in Germany – moved to grounds directly next to the airport. Additionally, the global headquarters for car parking company APCOA Parking are located here.

Birkach ( ) is a borough in the south of Stuttgart located on the plain known as the Filderebene, just north of Plieningen. Of the districts of Stuttgart, Birkach is among the smallest.

Filderstadt (German pronunciation: [ˈfɪldɐˌʃtat] ; Swabian: Fildorsdadd) is a town in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It is located approximately 13 km south of Stuttgart. Filderstadt is located next to the Stuttgart Airport and the new Trade Fair. Line S2 of the Stuttgart S-Bahn terminates at Filderstadt station. Filderstadt was created as a town in 1975 from five smaller villages called Bernhausen, Bonlanden, Plattenhardt, Sielmingen and Harthausen. From 1978 to 2005, it played host to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, a WTA Tier II event. Princess Claire of Luxembourg was born here on 21 March 1985. German writer Michael Ende, author of The Neverending Story, died in Filderstadt in 1995.

Bernhausen is a former municipality in the Esslingen district, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It was first recorded in year 1089 as Berinhusen. In 1975 it was merged with the municipalities Bonlanden, Plattenhardt, Sielmingen and Harthausen to form the new town Filderstadt. Bernhausen is today a quartier of that town, formally named Filderstadt-Bernhausen. It has 13,216 inhabitants. Line S2 of the Stuttgart S-Bahn terminates at Filderstadt station in Bernhausen.

Stuttgart Flughafen/Messe (German for Stuttgart Airport/Trade Fair) station is a station on the network of the Stuttgart S-Bahn. Despite its name the station is not in the city of Stuttgart, rather it is in Leinfelden-Echterdingen.

Messe Stuttgart is a convention center next to Stuttgart Airport, 12 km south of Stuttgart, Germany. It is the ninth-biggest convention center in Germany. The new Messe Stuttgart site, completed in 2007, is right next to the A8 autobahn (highway). The center is accessible from Stuttgart Flughafen/Messe station on the local suburban railway network. Buses also travel to Messe Stuttgart from nearby Esslingen, Göppingen, Reutlingen and Tübingen. There are plans to link Messe Stuttgart and Stuttgart airport to the proposed Stuttgart–Wendlingen high-speed railway between Stuttgart and Ulm by 2019 as part of the Stuttgart 21 Project.
