Alexandra Palace railway station

Palace Gates railway station was on the Palace Gates Line in Wood Green, north London, on the corner of Bridge Road and Dorset Road. It was opened on 7 October 1878 by the Great Eastern Railway (GER) as terminus of the line that bore its name. The line had terminated at the previous station, Noel Park and Wood Green, since opening on 1 January 1878. The station was opened to provide a means by which the GER could transport passengers to the nearby Alexandra Palace. It was thus in competition with the nearby Wood Green (Alexandra Park) station - now Alexandra Palace station - on the Great Northern Railway. A connection to Bowes Park on the GNR Hertford Loop Line, which runs just north of the site of the station, was made in 1929 but it was used only for occasional freight trains. Competing as it did with other nearby railway lines and the Underground's Piccadilly line, by the 1960s the Palace Gates line was unprofitable and the line closed to passengers on 7 January 1963 and to freight on 5 October 1964. Following closure the station was demolished and housing built on most of the site. A short section of the station site at its north end is occupied by Network Rail sidings alongside which are traces of the platform ends. The remains of part of the embankment forming the southern approach to the station can still be seen, including the abutments for the bridge taking the line over Park Avenue.

Heartlands High School (HHS) is an 11–16 mixed secondary school with academy status in Wood Green, London, England. It was established in 2010 as a community school and became an academy in 2013. The project was commissioned by Building Schools for the Future (BSF), was funded by £33 million in tax-payer's money and was constructed by Wilmott Dixon.

The depot is to the immediate north of Alexandra Palace railway station. It is presently operated by Hitachi and maintains AT300 units for London North Eastern Railway, Hull Trains and Lumo.

The London Plan identifies it as one of the metropolitan centres in Greater London, and today it forms a major commercial district of North London.Formerly lying within the western part of Tottenham and within the county of Middlesex, it became part of both Haringey and Greater London in 1965. Wood Green lies directly to the east of Alexandra Palace. It is 6.5 miles (10.5 km) from Charing Cross in central London.

Alexandra Park Racecourse, known to Londoners as Ally Pally, was a horse racing venue in Alexandra Park, London; it was colloquially known as the Frying Pan on account of its shape. It opened on 30 June 1868 and closed 102 years later on 8 September 1970. It is now incorporated into the park, with a sports pitch in the centre of the racetrack oval.

St Mary's Greek Orthodox Church is a Greek Orthodox church in Trinity Road, Wood Green, London. It was built as Trinity Methodist Church in 1871 to the design of the reverend R.N. Johnson and became Greek Orthodox in 1970. It was greatly rebuilt after a fire in 1986 with the help of the Greek community and fundraising events notably a Dinner & Dance arranged by a pupil of the Greek school Nick Efthymiou. It is also sometimes known as St Mary's Cathedral or The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God.

The border between the London boroughs of Enfield and Haringey goes through the area. Bowes Park "village" is defined as the triangle area between Bounds Green Road / Brownlow Rd (to the west), Green Lanes (to the east) down to Trinity Road (to the south) and the A406 (to the north) The population for the Enfield ward at the 2011 Census was 14,051.

Trinity Primary Academy is a primary school in Bounds Green Road, Wood Green, London. It is a grade II listed building with Historic England. It is part of the Academies Enterprise Trust.

Alexandra Park is an 80–hectare, Green Flag Award, and Green Heritage winning, diverse-landscape park, in the Borough of Haringey in north London adjacent to Hornsey, Muswell Hill and Wood Green. Laid out on the site of Tottenham Wood and the later Tottenham Wood Farm, the park and palace were named in 1863, the year of the marriage of Alexandra of Denmark to the Prince of Wales who became King Edward VII.Alexandra Park is split between hilly and flat ground. The tree-lined hill has wide views from slopes and many areas of the relatively large hilltop. Of note is the view from Alexandra Palace which dominates the park, particularly its Panorama Room. On most days the Crystal Palace Transmitter and/or the North Downs in Surrey are visible. From 1936 to 1981, the BBC transmitted TV programmes from a tall mast built onto one of the towers of the palace. In 1980, most of the palace was gutted by a huge fire. The building has since been restored and is now a conference and exhibition centre.
