Collins Lake, impounded by Virginia Ranch Dam, is a freshwater man-made lake with 1,009 acres (4.08 km2) located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains north of Sacramento, California. The lake was originally created to provide additional irrigation water to Browns Valley and Loma Rica. It still serves that purpose as well as a recreation and fishing lake.

Condemned Bar is a former settlement, in El Dorado County, California. It is in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The former town is now under Folsom Lake. A Historical Landmark marker was built at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. The former mining town of the California Gold Rush is registered as California Historical Landmark #572.

Rackerby (formerly, Hansonville) is a census-designated place straddling the border between Butte County and Yuba County in California. It is 24 miles (39 km) north-northeast of Marysville, at an elevation of 1,184 feet (361 m). Rackerby's population was 204 at the 2010 census.

The Bridgeport Covered Bridge is located in Bridgeport, Nevada County, California, southwest of French Corral and north of Lake Wildwood. It is used as a pedestrian crossing over the South Yuba River. The bridge was built in 1862 by David John Wood. Its lumber came from Plum Valley in Sierra County, California. The bridge was closed to vehicular traffic in 1972 and pedestrian traffic in 2011 due to deferred maintenance and "structural problems".On June 20, 2014, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed budget legislation that included $1.3 million for the bridge's restoration. The work was slated to be done in two phases—near-term stabilization followed by restoration. The bridge reopened to pedestrians in November 2021 following completion of the restoration work.The Bridgeport Covered Bridge has the longest clear single span of any surviving wooden covered bridge in the world.

South Yuba River State Park is located along the South Fork of the Yuba River in the Sierra Nevada, within Nevada County, in Northern California.

Bridgeport (also: Nyes Landing and Nye's Crossing) is a former settlement on the Yuba River in Nevada County, California, 2 mi (3.2 km) from the town of French Corral. Its elevation is 567 ft (173 m) above sea level.It is notable for the Bridgeport Covered Bridge, a national and state historic landmark, used as a pedestrian crossing over the South Yuba River. Yuba County is included in the Yuba City metropolitan statistical area, which is also included in the Sacramento–Roseville combined statistical area. The county is in the Central Valley region along the Feather River; the county seat is Marysville.

Englebright Lake is an 815 acre reservoir on the Yuba River, impounded by Englebright Dam, in the Sierra Nevada, Northern California, United States. The reservoir stores 45,000 acre feet of water with nearly 24 miles of shoreline.It is located in Yuba County and Nevada County. The boat launch and marina, named Skippers Cove, are located in Smartsville. It is located in between Grass Valley and Marysville. The reservoir, as well as the dam, were named for former U.S. Representative Harry L. Englebright, who represented the district in which Englebright is located. The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has developed a safe eating advisory for the Englebright Lake based on levels of mercury found in fish caught here.

Englebright Dam is a 280 ft (85 m) high variable radius concrete arch dam on the Yuba River in the Sacramento River Basin, located in Yuba and Nevada counties of California, United States. It was put into service in 1941 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The dam was constructed in 1941 for the primary purpose of trapping sediment derived from anticipated hydraulic mining operations in the Yuba River watershed. Hydraulic mining in the Sierra Nevada was halted in 1884 but resumed on a limited basis until the 1930s during the great depression under the California Debris Commission. Although no hydraulic mining in the upper Yuba River watershed resumed after the construction of the dam, the historical mine sites continued to contribute sediment to the river. Today, Englebright Lake is used primarily for recreation and hydropower. Englebright Lake is nestled in the scenic Sierra foothills east of Marysville. Constructed for the storage of hydraulic gold mining debris, Englebright Dam is a concrete arch structure. It spans 1,142 feet (348 m) across and is 260 feet (79 m) high. The dam is in the steep Yuba River gorge known as the Narrows, holding back a 9-mile-long (14 km) lake with a surface area of 815 acres (3.30 km2; 330 ha). The lake is unique in that it offers boat-in camping only. The 70,000-acre-foot (86,000,000 m3) Englebright Reservoir provides water-based recreational benefits to the region and provides 45,000 acre-feet (56,000,000 m3) of stored water-right capacity, which is released each year through dam operations to benefit fish downstream. Water is also diverted for regional domestic and agricultural uses. Hydroelectric generation from water stored behind Englebright produces about 294 million kilowatt hours of energy each year, or enough for the annual energy needs for 50,000 homes.A new flow bypass system was installed in 2006 by the Yuba County Water Agency and Mitchell Engineering so that river flow requirements can be met during shut-downs of the Narrows II Powerhouse at the base of the dam. Narrows 1 Powerhouse is further downstream and smaller than Narrows 2 Powerhouse.

French Corral is an unincorporated community approximately five miles west of California State Highway 49 in Nevada County, California. It was one of the first of several historic California gold rush mining camps along the San Juan Ridge. The name was literal as the town grew around a mule corral built by the first settler in the area, a Frenchman, in 1849. It had a post office during the period of 1859 through 1945.Few original structures remain besides an old Wells Fargo Bank building.

Bangor is a census-designated place in Butte County, California, about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the Yuba County line. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) feature ID for the community is 218644, and for the census place is 2612459; and the elevation is given as 761 feet (232 m) above mean sea level (AMSL). The community is in a shallow valley with surrounding hills in the 800–950 foot range. The population was 646 at the 2010 census. Bangor was founded as a mining boom-town in 1855 and named by the Lumbert Brothers, early settlers and storekeepers, for their home-town of Bangor, Maine. The first post office was established in 1857.Latitude and longitude for the community are given as 39°23′19″N 121°24′19″W and the community is located at a cross roads. Oroville-Bangor Highway becomes Los Verjeles Road south of town, these roads running roughly north–south. LaPorte Road runs somewhat east–west through the community. There are two restaurants listed in the telephone directory. Bangor is in area code 530 and has a ZIP Code of 95914. Driving east on LaPorte Road into the mountains eventually leads to Camp Eighteen.
