Candler Park

Lake Claire is a neighborhood on the east side of Atlanta, Georgia, United States, comprising approximately 1,200 homes. It is situated entirely in the DeKalb County side of the city, east of Candler Park, north of Kirkwood, west of Decatur, and south of Druid Hills. There was never an actual body of water known as Lake Claire; rather, it was a shorthand for the intersection of Lakeshore and Claire Drives. The closest thing to a commercial district is the small strip bordering Candler Park at McLendon and Clifton. Part of the neighborhood lies with the Candler Park Historic District, which has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Pullman Yard or Pullman Yards is a former industrial complex in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta, comprising a plot of 27 acres (11 ha) used by the Pratt Engineering Company from 1904 and the Pullman Company from 1926 to 1955. The site was placed on the Atlanta Preservation Center's endangered places list in 2001, although it has been contested that they have the authority to do so. As Pratt-Pullman Yard, it is a contributing site to the 2009 designation of the Kirkwood Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Kirkwood School, at 138 Kirkwood Rd. in the DeKalb County portion of Atlanta, Georgia, is a school complex which served as a school until 1996, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. The listing included four contributing buildings on 2.9 acres (1.2 ha). It has also been known as Kirkwood Elementary School. It is included in the Kirkwood Historic District. The original school, built in 1906, was designed by architects Bruce, Everett and Hayes. The largest building in the campus is the main school building (1922) which was expanded in 1924 and 1928. The campus also includes a cafeteria building (1950), and a library building (1964).The main Kirkwood school building is a two-story, H-shaped building with Colonial Revival style, designed by John F. Downing and completed in 1922.The 1928 expansion added eight classrooms to the north side of the main building, and was designed by G. Lloyd Preacher. It continued the main building's "double-loaded corridor with flanking classrooms" in compatible Colonial Revival style.Desegregation of the school began in 1965. All eighteen teachers and nearly all of the 500 white students transferred out. In 1967 the Kirkwood neighborhood area became predominantly African American.

Fellini's Pizza is an Italian restaurant founded in Atlanta on May 5, 1982 by Clay Harper of the Coolies and Mike Nelson. It has 7 locations and is known for its Atlanta style pizza. Its first location was near Little Five Points. It was voted "best pizza" in 2013 by The Emory Wheel.

WXIA-TV (channel 11) is a television station in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, affiliated with NBC. It is owned by Tegna Inc. alongside MyNetworkTV affiliate WATL (channel 36). Both stations share studios at One Monroe Place on the north end of midtown Atlanta, while WXIA-TV's transmitter is located in the city's east section, near Kirkwood. Atlanta is the largest television market where the NBC station is not owned and operated by the network.WXIA-TV is popularly known within the Atlanta metropolitan area by its longtime on-air brand, 11 Alive, which the station has used since 1976.

Kirkwood is a national historic designated neighborhood on the east side of Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It is a historic streetcar suburb, and was designed by architect Will Saunders. Kirkwood is situated entirely in DeKalb County, bordered by the neighborhoods of Lake Claire, East Lake, Edgewood, and Oakhurst. Kirkwood is bound on the north by DeKalb Avenue, on the south by Memorial Drive and Interstate 20, on the west by Montgomery Street, and on the east by 1st Ave. A large part of the neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Kirkwood Historic District.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History, in Atlanta, Georgia, is a museum that presents exhibitions and programming about natural history. Fernbank Museum has a number of permanent exhibitions and regularly hosts temporary exhibitions in its expansive facility, designed by Graham Gund Architects. Giants of the Mesozoic, on display in the atrium of Fernbank Museum, features a 123-foot (37 m) long Argentinosaurus, the largest dinosaur ever classified; as well as a Giganotosaurus. The permanent exhibition, A Walk Through Time in Georgia, tells the twofold story of Georgia's natural history and the development of the planet. Fernbank Museum has won several national and international awards for one of its newest permanent exhibitions, Fernbank NatureQuest, an immersive, interactive exhibition for children that was designed and produced by Thinkwell Group. The awards NatureQuest has won include the 2012 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement for a Museum Exhibit and the 2011 Bronze Award for Best Museum Environment from Event Design. The nearby Fernbank Science Center is a separate organization operated by the DeKalb County Board of Education and is not affiliated with Fernbank Museum of Natural History (Fernbank, Inc.).

South Decatur Trolley Trail is a hiking and biking trail built by PATH in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States. The right-of-way was originally a part of the South Atlanta's Metropolitan Street Railroad Company and the section of the trail was separated from public roadways. The route which ran through Edgewood, Kirkwood and Oakhurst eventually became Route 18 of the Georgia Power Streetcar system but since it runs out-of-band is ideal for cyclists and runners today.

Evergreen Butcher and Baker is a bakery and restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. In 2024, the business was included in The New York Times's list of the 22 best bakeries in the U.S.

The 1951 U.S. Women's Open was the sixth U.S. Women's Open, held September 13–16 at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. First-year professional Betsy Rawls, age 23, won the first of her eight major championships, five strokes ahead of runner-up Louise Suggs, the 1949 champion. It was the first of four U.S. Women's Open titles for Rawls, with additional wins in 1953, 1957, and 1960. Prior to this event, the LPGA Tour petitioned the United States Golf Association (USGA) to take over the championship, which it did two years later in 1953.

Edgewood / Candler Park is a train station in Atlanta, Georgia, on the Blue Line of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system. Currently, the station also serves as the terminus of the Green Line on weekdays. On weekends, Green Line service instead terminates two stops to the west at King Memorial. The station opened on June 30, 1979. This station was proposed to be the final connecting point between the Eastbound Train (now known as Blue Line) and Proctor Creek Lines (now Green Line) before it shifted toward North Central DeKalb. Two stations for that area were planned: Emory and Druid Hills, respectively, before they were ultimately canceled. An additional station was planned on the Green Line to end at Perry Homes on the Western side, but ultimately, only Bankhead was built. The station was built to handle the separation of the rail lines and to handle people transferring between trains. It mainly serves the communities of Edgewood, Kirkwood, and Candler Park. Bus service is provided to Villages of East Lake, Edgewood Retail District, Ponce City Market, Little Five Points and Downtown Kirkwood
