Thane

Thane Assembly constituency is one of the 288 Vidhan Sabha (Assembly) constituencies of Maharashtra, India. It is one of the six assembly seats which make up Thane (Lok Sabha constituency). Thane is near Mumbai.

Chandanwadi is a neighbourhood in Thane city of Maharashtra state in India. There are three lakes nearby, namely Kachrali Lake, Makhmali Lake, and Siddeshwar Lake. These lakes have been beautified as part of the cleansing and beautification of lakes in Thane city. Kachrali lake has been developed the most as it overlooks the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) building.

Dnyaneshwar Dnyan Mandir English High School, Thane was established in the year 1975, and in 2010, the new management of Goodwill International Foundation Trust (GIFT) took over the school. Thane district (Pronunciation: [ʈʰaːɳe], previously named Taana or Thana) is a district in the Konkan Division of Maharashtra, India. At the 2011 Census it was the most populated district in the country, with 11,060,148 inhabitants; however, in August 2014 the district was split into two with the creation of a new Palghar district, leaving the reduced Thane district with a 2011 Census population of 8,070,032. The headquarters of the district is the city of Thane. Other major cities in the district are Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli, Mira-Bhayander, Bhiwandi, Ulhasnagar, Ambarnath, Badlapur, Murbad and Shahapur.The district is situated between 18°42' and 20°20' north latitudes and 72°45' and 73°48' east longitudes. The revised area of the district is 4,214 km2. The district is bounded by Nashik district to the north east, Pune and Ahmednagar districts to the east, and by Palghar district to the north. The Arabian Sea forms the western boundary, while it is bounded by Mumbai Suburban district to the south west, and Raigad District to the south.

Saraswati Education Society's High School and Junior College, more commonly known as SES High School, is one of the oldest educational institutions in Thane city of India, located at Panchpakhadi, teaching pre-primary (Jr and Sr Kg), primary (1st to 4th), secondary (5th to 10th) and junior college (11th and 12th), catering to over 3500 students and well knit team of 82 teachers. Kopineshwar Mandir (also Kaupīnēśvar Mandir) (Marathi: कौपिनेश्वर मंदिर) is a temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and is considered the patron god of Thane. The Shivalinga inside the temple is considered one of the largest in Maharashtra, India.

The Dadoji Konddev Stadium, sometimes called SR Bhosle Krida Sankul Stadium by some sources, is a sports stadium in Thane, Maharashtra, India. It is named after Dadoji Konddev and it is currently used mostly for training. Its main ground has been built for cricket with an in-built six lane running track for athletes. The complex also includes 5 badminton courts, a gym, a table tennis hall, 2 squash courts, a billiards room, rami room, hall, bar room, and a canteen. Athletics and badminton coaching by the Thane Municipal Corporation's Badminton Association has also been conducted here since 1987.The stadium also hosts a number of private athletics coaching classes as well like Track and Field Masters Club, Achievers Club, Seven Stars. The spectator capacity is 33,000. The Stadium is closed on Monday, and on the rest of the days the ground is reserved for athletics from 6am to 9:30 am and 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm and for cricket from 9:30 to 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Dadoji Stadium is only stadium in Thane with a 400-meter running track and many of the athletics events like the Mayor's Cup where 60+ schools and 2000 athletes typically participate and Arya Krida Mandal events are conducted here. The ground also hosts a number of annual sports events of various schools in Thane and acts as a venue for cultural events.
