Misson, Nottinghamshire

Harwell is a hamlet in the civil parish of Everton, in Bassetlaw district, northern Nottinghamshire, England. It is located off the A631 road, less than a mile to the northwest of Everton and three miles northeast of Bawtry. Although only a small settlement, historically Harwell had a separate manor. The hamlet had a population of 112 people in the mid 19th century and the Corporation of Newark were lords of the manor at that time. Today, the main feature of Harwell is the Grade II listed Pear Tree House and the Barrow Hills woodland, immediately to the northwest.

Everton is a village and civil parish in Nottinghamshire, England. Located on the A631 between Gainsborough and Bawtry, it is part of Bassetlaw district. The parish includes the village of Harwell. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 839. There are 23 grade II listed buildings in the village. The village is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086–7 as Evretone. Everton was originally a Danish settlement by the name of Eofor-tun. For the majority of its history Everton's inhabitants have been farmers. Everton is twinned with the French village of Bouy in Champagne Ardenne, France. Everton Mill was a four-storey brick tower windmill built c. 1820. It was sold along with a watermill to farmer James Taylor by Will Templence in 1848. The sails were removed in 1930, the mill being worked by steam engines installed in 1898 in a nearby engine house. The mill was still working in the 1940s but was closed c. 1950 and the machinery dismantled. The mill tower is still standing.

Newington is a hamlet in the Bassetlaw district of northern Nottinghamshire, England. It is 138 miles (222 km) north west of London, 34 miles (55 km) north of the county town and city of Nottingham, and 1 mile (1.6 km) north east of the nearest town Bawtry. It is in the civil parish of Misson.

Finningley is a village and civil parish in the City of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. Historically in Nottinghamshire, it lies on the A614 road between Bawtry and Thorne, about 6 miles south-east of Doncaster. In the 2011 census, it had a population of 1,497. The Finningley ward of Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council covers 16.8 square miles, including the villages of Auckley, Branton, Blaxton, Hayfield and Bessacarr Grange, and part of Cantley.

Austerfield is a village and civil parish in the City of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. It is 1 mile (1.6 km) to the north-east of the market town of Bawtry on the A614 road, and adjacent to the hamlet of Newington in Nottinghamshire, close to the River Idle. The population in 2001 was 571, which fell to 536 at the 2011 Census.

Mattersey is a village in Nottinghamshire, England. It is located about 6 miles north of Retford and sits close to the border of Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, being just under 13 miles from Doncaster. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 779, increasing to 792 at the 2011 Census.Within the parish lies the settlement of Mattersey Thorpe, originally consisting of a few farms. During World War II many poorly built bungalows were constructed. The streets thus formed were named after prominent figures of the war. (Keyes, Bloomfield, Churchill, Bader, Wavell, Cunningham etc.) The parish church of All Saints is 14th century. About a mile to the east of the village are the remains of Mattersey Priory on a gravel island in the River Idle.On 21 January 1999, four people died when a Tornado GR1 jet from RAF Cottesmore collided with a Cessna light aircraft above the village. The Cessna crashed into sugar-beet fields close to a school while the Tornado continued flying over woodland spilling fuel before crashing into fields about a mile away, exploding before impact. The Tornado was on a training mission, the Italian trainee was ejected from the aircraft on impact, some local villagers witnessed the parachute descending but it is thought he hadn't survived the initial impact of the two aircraft.

Finningley railway station was a railway station built to serve the villages of Finningley and Blaxton, South Yorkshire, England.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport (IATA: DSA, ICAO: EGCN), formerly named and commonly referred to as Robin Hood Airport, was an international airport in Finningley near Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England, in operation between 2005 and 2022. The site lies 6 mi (10 km) south-east of the centre of Doncaster and 19 mi (31 km) east of Sheffield. It opened to passengers in 2005, operated by Peel Airports, a division of the Peel Group. The airport had a CAA Public Use Aerodrome Licence that allowed flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction. It had 1.22 million passengers in 2018. The airport's owners said in 2022 that it was no longer commercially viable, and all operations ceased after the last inbound flight on 4 November 2022.

Bassetlaw is a parliamentary constituency in Nottinghamshire, represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since the 2019 general election by Brendan Clarke-Smith, a Conservative. Before that election, the seat had been part of the so-called "red wall", being held by the Labour Party since 1929.

Bassetlaw is a local government district in Nottinghamshire, England. The district has four towns: Worksop, Tuxford, Harworth Bircotes and Retford. It is bounded to the north by the Metropolitan Boroughs of Doncaster and Rotherham, the east by West Lindsey, the west by both the Borough of Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire and the south by Mansfield District and Newark and Sherwood. The district is along with Bolsover District, North East Derbyshire and Borough of Chesterfield is a non-constituent member of the Sheffield City Region.
