The Flaming Geyser State Park is located on the Green River in southwestern King County, Washington, near the city of Black Diamond. The park was named for a flame which burned through a concrete basin, fueled by a methane gas pocket 1,000 feet (300 m) below the surface. When the pocket was discovered by prospective coal miners in the early 1900s, the test hole hit gas and saltwater, shooting water and flames 25 feet (10 m) into the air. The same methane pocket seeps gas through a mud hole to create the "Bubbling Geyser" nearby. Both "geysers" can be found along a short hike, though as of 2016 the flaming geyser is no longer lit due to depletion of its methane source.Despite these unique features, the most popular park use is for summer tubing and rafting in the river. Flaming Geyser also has a specially designated area for flying remote-controlled model airplanes.

Lake Sawyer

Lake Sawyer is a freshwater lake in Black Diamond, Washington. Only three other natural lakes in King County have a larger surface area.Lake Sawyer is underlain by glacial outwash and till dating from the Vashon Glaciation, as well as older glaciations that occurred during the Pleistocene. The bedrock underlying this mass of sediments is classified as the Hammer Bluff Formation, which was deposited during the Miocene epoch and consists of sedimentary rocks with some volcanic deposits. Discharge from the lake via groundwater outflow is thought to occur mostly in the northeast and southwest corners. Lake Sawyer is classified as mesotrophic, with algal growth limited by phosphorus availability. A 1994 survey found 23 species of plants growing in the lake and along its shorelines, including the invasive Myriophyllum spicatum and Nymphaea odorata.A concrete dam was built at the outlet in 1952 to regulate the lake level. Several species of fish, some of which are stocked, can be caught in the lake.

It was built in 1915 by Tacoma dry goods merchant Erick G. Trommald for $30,000 adjoining Enumclaw's first modern office building, the Jensen Building. Trommald commissioned notable Tacoma architects Heath & Gove to plan the structure.The building is significant for its relatively intact architecture, influenced by the Chicago School style. The Trommald building was part of a city beautiful movement in the 1910s and 1920s to replace dilapidated wooden buildings with fireproof brick buildings.

KGRG (AM)

KGRG (1330 AM) is a 500 watts day and 26 watts at night AM college radio station transmitting from Enumclaw, Washington, licensed to the Green River Foundation and operated by Green River Community College in Auburn, Washington. The station is called "KGRG1" and has a classic alternative format. KGRG's nighttime signal reception is affected mainly by KKPZ Portland, as well as CJYM Rosetown, Saskatchewan in certain areas. This makes KGRG difficult to receive outside of the Enumclaw area; however, KGRG1 has been reported in California and Oregon. Staff members have stated that they've received emails from people claiming to hear the signal in Kansas, and even as far away as Finland and Norway.
