The Main Yarra Trail, also known as the Yarra Trail is a 35-to-45-kilometre (22 to 28 mi) shared-use path for cyclists and pedestrians, which follows the Yarra River through the northeastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. From its western terminus, the trail follows the Yarra from near Southbank, through the city and northeastern suburbs towards either Eltham or Westerfolds Park in Templestowe. At various times, the trail is on both sides of the river. Both the Main Yarra and Capital City trails use the same path from Melbourne city centre in the west, to Dights Falls in the east. From the Yarra Bend Park, the Main Yarra Trail continues eastwards and to slightly higher terrain towards Templestowe and reaches its eastern terminus at the trail's junction with the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail; and forms connecting trailheads with several other trails along its course. In addition to the City of Melbourne, the trail passes through Stonnington, Yarra City, Boroondara, Banyule, Nillumbik, and Manningham local government areas. Large sections of the trail are administered by Parks Victoria. As well as the Yarra River, major landmarks include—within close proximity to the trail—from west to east, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Southbank, Como House, Herring Island Sculpture Park, Abbotsford Convent arts precinct, Collingwood Children's Farm, Yarra Bend Park, Fairfield Boathouse, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Mia Mia Gallery and Westerfolds Park. The trail is located on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri.

Federation Bells is an installation comprising 39 upturned bells. Located in Birrarung Marr, Melbourne, they were created for celebrations of the centenary of Australia's federation in 2001. They were designed by Anton Hasell and Neil McLachlan in collaboration with Swaney Draper Architects. To achieve the acoustical tuning of the bells, Behzad Keramati Nigjeh, an aerospace engineer, also cooperated in this project. The bell's vibration modes were modelled and optimised using a sophisticated Finite Element software developed by Dr Joe Tomas. Federation Bells.com.au allows the public to compose music for Melbourne's Federation Bells. Using an intuitive drag-and-drop timeline, would be composers can create original compositions for the bells and submit them for playing to the curator. During special events the bells are also hooked up to a MIDI keyboard the allow passersby to play the bells in real time.

The Yarra Yarra Rowing Club is a rowing club on the Yarra River in Melbourne. It was founded in the 1870s by members of the Early Closing Association when several drapers in Bourke Street agreed to close on Saturday afternoons.

The Alexandra Gardens are located on the south bank of the Yarra River, opposite Federation Square and the Melbourne Central Business District, in Victoria, Australia. The Gardens are bounded by the Yarra River to the north, Princes and Swan street bridges, with Queen Victoria Gardens and Kings Domain across Alexandra Avenue to the south. The gardens are part of the Domain parklands which stretch to the Royal Botanic Gardens and were first laid out in 1901, under the direction of Carlo Catani, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department. The Alexandra Gardens were named in honor of Alexandra of Denmark, in the year her reign as Queen Consort of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions and Empress consort of India began. The Alexandra Gardens are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register due to their historical and archaeological significance.

Jolimont Yard was an array of railway lines and carriage sidings on the edge of the central business district of Melbourne, Australia. Located between Flinders Street station, Richmond Junction, the Yarra River and Flinders Street they were often criticised for cutting off the city from the river, being the site of many redevelopment proposals. The Princes Gate Towers (Gas and Fuel Buildings) were built over part of the yard in the 1960s, which themselves were replaced by Federation Square in the 1990s. The rail sidings themselves were progressively removed from the 1980s to the 1990s with only running lines today, but the area continues to be referred to as the 'Jolimont railyards' by Melburnians.

The Duke of Wellington Hotel is a heritage listed hotel within the Melbourne CBD in Victoria, Australia. Named after the Duke of Wellington, it was designed by Richard Dalton for Timothy Lane, a local businessman and carpenter. Construction completed in 1850, with a liquor licence unsuccessfully applied for in 1851 and 1852. It was a boarding house until 1853, when a liquor licence was obtained. The Cherry Bar is a Melbourne city bar founded in December 1999 by former Cosmic Psychos drummer Bill Walsh. Located on ACDC Lane (off Flinders Lane between Russell St and Exhibition St), the bar replaced existing artists studios in the building to make a rock music venue that has become a popular concert after-party venue for touring bands and their crews. Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher was so taken with the bar during the band's 2002 Australian tour, he made an offer to purchase it. Other high-profile international visitors included Mick Jagger, Johnny Marr (from The Smiths) and Lady Gaga. In the early 2000s punters were brought to Cherry through its Deep Funk nights on Wednesdays with John Idem, hiphop Thursdays, and the consistent rock n' roll weekend nights. Thursday nights was Soul night, while rock from all genres and eras was played on weekends by founder Bill Walsh, Max Crawdaddy, Rock DJ Paul Miles, and Little Scotty. Later, the DJ roster included rock DJs Mary M, Dom, Kez, DJ Mermaid and Leaping Larry L, with radio PBS announcers Vince Peach and Pierre Baroni helming Thursday night's Soul In The Basement. Local promoter and former radio and television presenter James Young has been managing Cherry with a consortium since 2006. Although inaccurately reported by Melbourne's Herald Sun that the building was destroyed by fire on 5 June 2008, it was in fact the offices located in the floors above which burned, whereas the Cherry bar, being located in the basement of the building, suffered only water damage. The bar was expected to reopen following two weeks cleaning and restoration of the electricals damaged by the water used in the fire-fighting effort but building complications delayed the re-opening until New Year's Eve. As regulars of Cherry, rock band Airbourne reference the bar in the lyrics of their song Fat City: "Midnight bite at the Cherry, so sweet is the juice." Melbourne-band Jet also drew upon their many long nights spent at the bar as an influence for their song Rollover DJ, after an inebriated band member was rebuked for spilling his drink over the in-house DJ's records. In 2018 indie rockers Glomesh released the track Crawlin' Up AC/DC Lane. The filmclip for Kylie Auldist's track Sensational was filmed at Cherry, as were scenes from the big-budget 2002 vampire flick Queen Of The Damned, featuring locals among the extras. In 2019 Cherry's management announced that they would be relocating to the former location of late-night venue Pony (AKA Boney), 68 Little Collins St, Melbourne.

The Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS) is an Australian independent non-profit arts organization founded by sound artists Robin Fox and Byron J Scullin in 2016. MESS features a collection of synthesizers, drum machines, and other electronic instruments which are available to use. The instruments in their collection are on loan from local musicians, including major contributions from Tony Osmond and Gotye. Due to the size of the collection, only a third can be displayed at one time, so are rotated regularly. Access to MESS is provided through an annual membership, allowing members to book out instruments and play them or record with them in the space. Notable international musicians who have visited include Legowelt, Clark, and David Chesworth who was their artist in residence in 2017. MESS have also displayed their collection in exhibitions and public performances, which has included partnerships with Red Bull, Google, and the Grainger Museum. On 27 March 2021, MESS Synthesiser Orchestra performed at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl Melbourne. The orchestra featured 40 synthesizers spanning from the 1960s to the present day. On 21 May 2025, it was announced that MESS would move from their headquarters in North Melbourne to Federation Square's Atrium. MESS reopened on 19 September with plans for "expanded programs, greater accessibility, and the capacity to welcome more people than ever before to the studio".

AC/DC Lane is a laneway in the central business district of Melbourne, Australia. A short and narrow street running off Flinders Lane, it runs roughly north–south in between Exhibition Street and Russell Street. The lane is named as a tribute to the famous Australian hard rock band AC/DC.

The Koorie Heritage Trust is an Indigenous not-for-profit cultural organisation based in Melbourne. It holds over 100,000 items in its collection from paintings and artefacts through to books, videos and photographs. It has "...a commitment to protect, preserve and promote the living culture of the Indigenous people of south-east Australia." The Koorie Heritage Trust also runs a variety of cultural educational programs and a Koorie family history service.

fortyfivedownstairs is a not-for-profit theatre and gallery in Melbourne, Australia. Located on the lower floors of a brick nineteenth century building in Flinders Lane, it showcases visual art, independent theatre and live music. An institution that nurtures risk-taking artists, its board includes Julian Burnside QC.

The Queen Victoria Gardens are Melbourne's memorial to Queen Victoria. Located on 4.8 hectares (12 acres) opposite the Victorian Arts Centre and National Gallery of Victoria, bounded by St Kilda Road, Alexandra Avenue and Linlithgow Avenue. Queen Victoria's reign started in 1837, two years after the initial European settlement of Melbourne, and upon her death in 1901 it was thought appropriate to declare an enduring monument to her reign. A memorial statue was commissioned from sculptor James White showing the Queen in ceremonial gowns casting her regal gaze across ornamental lakes, sweeping lawns and rose gardens to the Melbourne Arts Centre Spire and the city skyscrapers.
