Jolimont Yard

Federation Bells is an installation comprising 39 upturned bells. Located in Birrarung Marr, Melbourne, they were created for celebrations of the centenary of Australia's federation in 2001. They were designed by Anton Hasell and Neil McLachlan in collaboration with Swaney Draper Architects. To achieve the acoustical tuning of the bells, Behzad Keramati Nigjeh, an aerospace engineer, also cooperated in this project. The bell's vibration modes were modelled and optimised using a sophisticated Finite Element software developed by Dr Joe Tomas. Federation Bells.com.au allows the public to compose music for Melbourne's Federation Bells. Using an intuitive drag-and-drop timeline, would be composers can create original compositions for the bells and submit them for playing to the curator. During special events the bells are also hooked up to a MIDI keyboard the allow passersby to play the bells in real time.

Located on the lower floors of a brick nineteenth century building in Flinders Lane, it showcases visual art, independent theatre and live music. An institution that nurtures risk-taking artists, its board includes Julian Burnside QC.

The East Melbourne Cricket Ground was a grass oval sports venue located at the corner of Wellington Parade and Jolimont Parade, in East Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Now part of Yarra Park and being adjacent to the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the site is best known for playing host to many sporting events during the city of Melbourne's early existence, consisting mainly of cricket and Australian rules football, although the ground occasionally hosted soccer matches.

Birrarung Marr is an inner-city park between the central business district in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and the Yarra River. It was opened in 2002. The name refers to the bank of Birrarung, the 'river of mists', in the Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people, the Indigenous inhabitants at the time of European colonisation of the Melbourne area.

The Treasury Gardens consist of 5.8 hectares (14 acres) on the south-eastern side of the Melbourne Central Business District, East Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The gardens are bounded by Wellington Parade, Spring Street, Treasury Place, and by the Fitzroy Gardens across Lansdowne street to the west. They form part of a network of city gardens including Fitzroy Gardens, Carlton Gardens, Flagstaff Gardens and Kings Domain. The gardens are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register for their historical, archaeological, social, "aesthetic and scientific (horticultural) importance for its outstanding nineteenth century design, path layout and planting".

Jolimont Workshops was a railway workshop operated by the Victorian Railways beside Jolimont Yard, near the Melbourne CBD, Australia. Opened in 1917 and dedicated to the maintenance and repair of electric multiple units and locomotives, it was the first part of the yard to be closed and relocated, with demolition completed in 1994. The site is now part of the Melbourne Park tennis complex.

Collins Place is a large mixed-use complex in the CBD of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Designed in about 1970 by I.M.Pei and Partners, and finally completed in 1981, it was Melbourne's first and Australia's largest mixed use project, including basement car-parking, a shopping plaza with professional suites, cinemas and a nightclub in the lower levels, and offices and a high-rise hotel in a pair of towers (35 and 55 Collins Street) above.

Grosvenor Chambers, at number 9 Collins Street, Melbourne, contained the first custom-built complex of artists' studios in Australia. The construction costs were almost £6,000 and the building opened in April 1888. The owner was Charles Stewart Paterson (1843-1917). He, in partnership with his brother James, had a high-end decorating business in Melbourne. Another brother was the painter John Ford Paterson who sometimes exhibited with the Heidelberg School artists. The basement atelier was occupied initially by sculptor Percival Ball. The upper floor consisted of five well-lit artists' studios. The ground floor housed the showroom for the Paterson’s decorative arts business. The middle floor had space for a costumier, fabric showroom and workshop. Many notable artists rented a studio in the building or exhibited their work there. These include, Tom Roberts, Frederick McCubbin, Arthur Streeton, Percival Ball, Charles Francis Summers, Clara Southern, Jane Sutherland, Charles Conder, E. Phillips Fox, John Longstaff, Girolamo Nerli, Louis Abrahams, Rose Walker, George Lambert, Ola Cohn, Dora Wilson, Max Meldrum, Mirka Mora and Albert Tucker. Notable photographers, such as Gordon De Lisle and Wolfgang Sievers, had rooms in the building in the 1950s. Artists continued to rent studios there until the mid-1970s, when all but the facade of the building was demolished to make way for a high-rise office building.

The Old Treasury Building on Spring Street in Melbourne, built 1858-62 as a home for the Treasury Department of the Government of Victoria as well as the Governor In Council, now houses a range of functions, including a museum of Melbourne history, known as Old Treasury Building Museum.

The Main Yarra Trail, also known as the Yarra Trail is a 35-to-45-kilometre (22 to 28 mi) shared-use path for cyclists and pedestrians, which follows the Yarra River through the northeastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. From its western terminus, the trail follows the Yarra from near Southbank, through the city and northeastern suburbs towards either Eltham or Westerfolds Park in Templestowe. At various times, the trail is on both sides of the river. Both the Main Yarra and Capital City trails use the same path from Melbourne city centre in the west, to Dights Falls in the east. From the Yarra Bend Park, the Main Yarra Trail continues eastwards and to slightly higher terrain towards Templestowe and reaches its eastern terminus at the trail's junction with the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail; and forms connecting trailheads with several other trails along its course. In addition to the City of Melbourne, the trail passes through Stonnington, Yarra City, Boroondara, Banyule, Nillumbik, and Manningham local government areas. Large sections of the trail are administered by Parks Victoria. As well as the Yarra River, major landmarks include—within close proximity to the trail—from west to east, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Southbank, Como House, Herring Island Sculpture Park, Abbotsford Convent arts precinct, Collingwood Children's Farm, Yarra Bend Park, Fairfield Boathouse, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Mia Mia Gallery and Westerfolds Park. The trail is located on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri.

Alcaston House, located on the corner of Melbourne's Collins and Spring St, rises seven levels over a basement, and is one Melbourne's first mixed-use Art Deco buildings. It was designed by the firm of architects, A. and K. Henderson and erected by T Donald and Co. in 1929-30. The Renaissance Revival complex was erected for the trustees of Dr EM James, whose home previously occupied the land. Located at 2 Collins St, Melbourne; it is amongst is an early example of multi-storey residential accommodation in the city at a time when the post-war preference for flat living in Europe and the USA was becoming manifest in Australia. The art deco building is directly opposite the Old Treasury Building and Victoria's Parliament Building.
