The Alexandra Gardens are located on the south bank of the Yarra River, opposite Federation Square and the Melbourne Central Business District, in Victoria, Australia. The Gardens are bounded by the Yarra River to the north, Princes and Swan street bridges, with Queen Victoria Gardens and Kings Domain across Alexandra Avenue to the south. The gardens are part of the Domain parklands which stretch to the Royal Botanic Gardens and were first laid out in 1901, under the direction of Carlo Catani, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department. The Alexandra Gardens were named in honor of Alexandra of Denmark, in the year her reign as Queen Consort of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions and Empress consort of India began. The Alexandra Gardens are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register due to their historical and archaeological significance.

Birrarung Marr is an inner-city park between the central business district in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and the Yarra River. It was opened in 2002. The name refers to the bank of Birrarung, the 'river of mists', in the Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people, the Indigenous inhabitants at the time of European colonisation of the Melbourne area.

The Queen Victoria Gardens are Melbourne's memorial to Queen Victoria. Located on 4.8 hectares (12 acres) opposite the Victorian Arts Centre and National Gallery of Victoria, bounded by St Kilda Road, Alexandra Avenue and Linlithgow Avenue. Queen Victoria's reign started in 1837, two years after the initial European settlement of Melbourne, and upon her death in 1901 it was thought appropriate to declare an enduring monument to her reign. A memorial statue was commissioned from sculptor James White showing the Queen in ceremonial gowns casting her regal gaze across ornamental lakes, sweeping lawns and rose gardens to the Melbourne Arts Centre Spire and the city skyscrapers. MPavilion is a temporary pavilion in Queen Victoria Gardens, Melbourne, erected annually since 2014. The event is sponsored by philanthropist Naomi Milgrom. Initially the project was planned for four years, but later it was extended by another two, until 2019. It is used for various art events, after which each pavilion is gifted to the city and moved to a permanent location.The first pavilion was designed by Sean Godsell, and was later relocated to the Hellenic Museum. The second pavilion was designed by UK-based architect Amanda Levete in 2015, and later relocated to Docklands. The third pavilion was a bamboo structure designed by Bijoy Jain of Studio Mumbai, later relocated to the Melbourne Zoo. In 2017, the pavilion was designed by Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten, and is OMA's first completed design in Australia. It has been relocated to the Clayton campus of Monash University. The 2018 pavilion was designed by Spanish architect Carme Pinós. St Kilda Road is a street in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is part of the locality of Melbourne which has the postcode of 3004, and along with Swanston Street forms a major spine of the city. St Kilda Road begins at Flinders Street, in the central business district and crosses Princes Bridge, which spans the Yarra River and connects the central business district of Melbourne with the suburb of St Kilda, ending at Carlisle Street, St Kilda. The road continues as Brighton Road, which becomes Nepean Highway, forming a major arterial connecting the bayside suburbs and Mornington Peninsula to the city. The east side of the road to High Street, Prahran is in the municipality of the City of Melbourne while the west side of the road from Dorcas Street, and the east side south of High Street, is in the municipality of the City of Port Phillip.The road was the location of many institutions dotted along its length, and was famed for being lined with elegant mansions until the middle of the 20th century. With their replacement by numerous offices from the 1950s- 1980s, it became a commercial centre, and since the 1990s has also become home to many large scale apartment projects.

The Koorie Heritage Trust is an Indigenous not-for-profit cultural organisation based in Melbourne. It holds over 100,000 items in its collection from paintings and artefacts through to books, videos and photographs. It has "...a commitment to protect, preserve and promote the living culture of the Indigenous people of south-east Australia." The Koorie Heritage Trust also runs a variety of cultural educational programs and a Koorie family history service.

The Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS) is an Australian independent non-profit arts organization founded by sound artists Robin Fox and Byron J Scullin in 2016. MESS features a collection of synthesizers, drum machines, and other electronic instruments which are available to use. The instruments in their collection are on loan from local musicians, including major contributions from Tony Osmond and Gotye. Due to the size of the collection, only a third can be displayed at one time, so are rotated regularly. Access to MESS is provided through an annual membership, allowing members to book out instruments and play them or record with them in the space. Notable international musicians who have visited include Legowelt, Clark, and David Chesworth who was their artist in residence in 2017. MESS have also displayed their collection in exhibitions and public performances, which has included partnerships with Red Bull, Google, and the Grainger Museum. On 27 March 2021, MESS Synthesiser Orchestra performed at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl Melbourne. The orchestra featured 40 synthesizers spanning from the 1960s to the present day. On 21 May 2025, it was announced that MESS would move from their headquarters in North Melbourne to Federation Square's Atrium. MESS reopened on 19 September with plans for "expanded programs, greater accessibility, and the capacity to welcome more people than ever before to the studio".

The Australian Music Vault is a free permanent exhibition that showcases past and present Australian contemporary music.It is located in the central Melbourne suburb of Southbank, within the Arts Centre Melbourne.Australian Music Vault exhibits physical objects such as costumes, lyric books, and tour paraphernalia from the Arts Centre Melbourne's Australian Performing Arts Collection. Exhibits include material from artists such as Baker Boy, Mo’Ju, Missy Higgins, Chrissy Amphlett, AC/DC, Olivia Newton-John, Archie Roach, and Kylie Minogue, as well as interactive digital activities. Recorded interviews with musicians and key music industry promoters are also displayed.It was developed by Arts Centre Melbourne in consultation with the music industry.Patrons of the Australian Music Vault include Kylie Minogue, Tina Arena, Ian “Molly” Meldrum, Archie Roach and Michael Gudinski.Founded in 2017, it reached 1 million visitors within two years of opening. It was Australia's first physical "hall of fame" for music.It has been applauded for including a number of Indigenous performers such as Yothu Yindi, No Fixed Address, Archie Roach, and women artists including Chrissie Amphlett, Little Patti, Judith Durham and Ngaiire.

Hamer Hall (formerly the Melbourne Concert Hall) is a 2,466 seat concert hall, the largest indoor venue at Arts Centre Melbourne, used for orchestra and contemporary music performances. It was opened in 1982 and was later renamed Hamer Hall in honour of Sir Rupert Hamer (the 39th Premier of Victoria) shortly after his death in 2004.

The Australian Performing Arts Collection at Arts Centre Melbourne is the largest specialist performing arts collection in Australia, with over 680,000 items relating to the history of circus, dance, music, opera and theatre in Australia and of Australian performers overseas.

The State Theatre opened in 1984 and is part of the Arts Centre Melbourne located by the Yarra River and St Kilda Road. Like the other performance venues within the Arts Centre, the State Theatre is underground. It has over 2,000 seats and its stage is one of the largest in the world. The State Theatre is typically used as a venue for ballet, opera and musical theatre. The first opera in the State Theatre was the John Copley production of Verdi's Don Carlos in 1984 by the Victoria State Opera.Opera Australia and The Australian Ballet each use the State Theatre as their main Melbourne venue. It is also used by The Production Company for short seasons of musical theatre. Over summer, the State Theatre usually hosts a major musical or large-scale theatre production. Notable summer productions have included The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, My Fair Lady, The King and I, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Hello, Dolly!, H.M.S. Pinafore, Dusty, War Horse, Dream Lover and Evita.

The Australian Archives of the Dance (also known as the Australian Dance Archives) is Australia’s oldest specialist dance archive. Established by The Australian Ballet in 1972, the Archive was transferred to the Performing Arts Collection of the Melbourne Arts Centre in 1998.
