Astrea Academy Woodfields is a secondary school and sixth form located in the Balby area of Doncaster in the English county of South Yorkshire. The school operates under Astrea Academy Trust.

Loversall is a village and civil parish in the City of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. It has a population of 128, increasing to 156 at the 2011 Census.The village consists mainly of residential properties and farm buildings. There is also a popular children's nursery. Although there was once a village shop there are no shops currently located within the village. However, there is a major supermarket adjacent to Loversall Parish, within the development known as Woodfield Plantation. There are also a small number of shops and a Post Office in the adjacent village of Wadworth. Loversall Lakes (Quarry Farm) is a popular fishing facility and periodically the fields around Loversall are used for clay pigeon shooting. St Katherines Church is a Grade II* listed building. It appears to have been built before 1207 by the Fossard family, who owned the Manor of Hexthorpe under Count Robert de Mortain (half brother to William the Conqueror). Within the churchyard lies an early 14th-century tomb chest which is also Grade II* listed. Loversall Hall, next to the church, is a large but plainly-built house, its principal front built by the Fenton family of Leeds between 1808 and 1816, although the buildings at the rear are probably seventeenth century. Loversall was part of the manor of Doncaster, and its church, dedicated to St Katherine, was technically a chapel of ease in the parish of Doncaster, rather than a fully-fledged parish church. There are a number of working farms in the Parish, including Quarry Farm adjacent to the A60 and Loversall Farm, the farmhouse for which is located within the village. Pear Tree Farm, also within the village, is no longer a working farm but the farmhouse, thought to be around 250 years old, remains in residential use.

St Catherine's Hospital was a mental healthcare hospital located in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, approximately three miles (4.8 km) from its centre. It is managed by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.

Potteric Carr is a large area of land to the southeast of Doncaster, in Yorkshire, England, over 3,000 acres (12 km2) in size.

Doncaster Carr rail depot (also known as Doncaster Train Maintenance Centre) is a railway vehicle maintenance depot located alongside the East Coast Main Line in Doncaster, England. It is presently operated by Hitachi as part of their contract to maintain the AT300 units for London North Eastern Railway and TransPennine Express. The original facility Doncaster Locomotive depot was a major 12 road steam locomotive maintenance shed built by the Great Northern Railway (GNR) in 1876. The shed remained in use under the successor companies London and North Eastern Railway and British Railways, being significantly modified in the mid 1950s; steam locomotive use at the shed ended in the 1960s. Until the facility was selected as a maintenance depot for the new AT300 fleet, the depot was used for diesel locomotive maintenance.

Doncaster International Railport, sometimes referred to as Doncaster Europort is a 12 acres (5 ha) intermodal rail terminal in Doncaster, England, located on the East Coast Main Line close to the M18 motorway and its junction with the A1(M) road. It was built in 1995 as part of a 26 acres (11 ha) development site originally known as Direct for Europe Doncaster.

The Tickhill Road Hospital is a small hospital at Tickhill Road in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. It is managed by the Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.

Spike Island was a workman's platform situated off the Great Northern Railway's mainline some 1.75 miles (2.82 km) south of Doncaster, England, by the Carr Wagon Shops. It was situated off the Down Goods Line and was served by a passenger train, running non-stop, under express headlights, known as the Spike Island Flyer. This brought staff from the main station to work in the wagon shops and returned them in the evening. The locomotive was the J52 which worked the wagon shop sidings during the day. The works closed in the early 1960s, production being moved to the plant works.The name "Spike Island" was given to the area around the wagon shops but its origins are unclear.

Balby South—consisting of the southern part of the suburb of Balby—is one of 21 electoral wards in the Doncaster district, in the county of South Yorkshire, England. It forms part of the Doncaster Central parliamentary constituency. It is represented by 2 councillors on Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, both currently from the Labour Party. In 2011 it had a population of 10,011. The ward was formed in 2015.

The A6182 is a dual carriageway in Doncaster that runs west and north from the former Doncaster Sheffield Airport to junction 3 of the M18 and then on to Hyde Park, an inner suburb of Doncaster. The road is named "White Rose Way" north of the M18, and "Great Yorkshire Way" south of the M18. The road's purpose is to link the city centre with the M18, from which drivers can reach the A1 and M1, and the now-closed Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

Doncaster Central is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 1997 by Dame Rosie Winterton of the Labour Party. Since 2017, Winterton has served as one of three Deputy Speakers of the House; she is the second MP for the constituency to be a Deputy Speaker, after Harold Walker.

The 1947 Doncaster rail crash was a fatal rail incident that occurred just south of Doncaster station at Bridge Junction. A train was signalled onto an occupied line and the ensuing collision resulted in 18 deaths and 188 injuries. Both trains and signalling were operated by the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER).
