Sweetwater Creek State Park is a 2,549 acres (10.32 km2) Georgia state park in east Douglas County, 15 miles (24 km) from downtown Atlanta. The park is named after Sweetwater Creek which runs through it. Cherokee people were forcibly removed from the area and it eventually became home to the New Manchester Manufacturing Company and mill town of New Manchester. During the American Civil War the textile mill and general store were burned down by the Union Army and the women and children taken away and eventually sent to Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana as refugees.Sweetwater became an official state park in 1972, driven in great part by the work of the Georgia Conservancy, an environmental organization that was formed during a meeting at Sweetwater Creek in 1967. The park features wooded walking and hiking trails, the George Sparks Reservoir, a visitor center, a bait shop, and a gift shop, as well as the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company. The Visitor Center displays artifacts that belong to Native Americans, remnants from the Civil War era, and mounted animals and birds. The park has rich biodiversity, geology, and history. The park's mission is to conserve environment for the present and future generations through use of various conservation methods such as bioretention ponds, solar panels, green roofs, and a composting toilet.

Lithia Springs () is an unincorporated community and census-designated place, formerly incorporated as a city, located in northeastern Douglas County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2020 census, the community had a population of 16,644. The area is named for its historic lithia mineral water springs. Incorporated in 1882, Lithia Springs was dissolved the first time in 1933. Lithia Springs became incorporated again in 1994, to be Douglas County's second completely internal municipality, but disincorporated again in 2000. In 2000, the citizens voted (80% yea, 20% nay) on December 20 to dissolve the city charter and de-incorporate the city, transferring all assets to the county. The referendum that ended the town was part of the settlement in a lawsuit brought by city residents charging the city should be dissolved because it did not deliver enough services to justify its existence under state law. During its incorporation until 2000, the former city had five mayors. Lithia Springs is assigned the United States Postal Service ZIP code of 30122.

Austell is a city in Cobb and Douglas counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 7,713.

Lithia Springs High School is a public high school located on East County Line Road, in Lithia Springs, Georgia, United States. It is also known as Lithia Springs Comprehensive High School. It was the second high school to open in the Douglas County School District.

Noses Creek is a 14.5-mile-long (23.3 km) stream in Cobb County, Georgia, USA. It is a significant tributary of the much larger Sweetwater Creek, in turn part of the Chattahoochee River basin. From its source area between Kennesaw and Marietta the stream flows generally south-southwesterly to just northwest of Austell. The stream was named for Chief Noses, a native Cherokee who lived in the area in the early 19th century. There are three named tributaries of Noses Creek. Ward Creek begins just west-southwest of Marietta's town square and flows generally southwestward. Olley Creek begins south of the Marietta central business district and also flows southwestward. The other significant tributary is Mud Creek, which begins just southwest of the Stilesboro Road and Kennesaw Due West Road intersection, and ends just southwest of Barrett Parkway and Macland Road (Georgia 360). Barrett Parkway is carried over Ward Creek and Noses Creek and their wetlands by a long viaduct, the most expensive section of the new road, which was constructed from forested land in the mid-1990s. There are two U.S. Geological Survey stream gauges in the basin: Noses Creek at Powder Springs Road (NOSG1), and Olley Creek at Clay Road (OLYG1). Massive flooding occurred with the 2009 Atlanta floods, and Noses Creek rose to double its flood stage, along with many other streams in the area. It inundated the transmitter facility for WDWD AM 590, putting it off the air for a week while disaster recovery specialists cleaned and dried the radio transmitter and other equipment, which was turned off just before the flood. Immediately across the creek, Clarkdale Elementary School was submerged nearly up to its roof, with students evacuated in ankle-deep water earlier in the day. The building was ruined and is awaiting demolition, and will be rebuilt at another location, although the Federal Emergency Management Agency said the original location was acceptable due to being outside the 100-year floodplain. The flood was considered to be of a level that would occur once in 500 to 10,000 years.

Clarkdale is an unincorporated community west-northwest of Atlanta, Georgia, in southwestern Cobb County. It has a post office with ZIP Code 30111 and is the hometown of novelty and country singer Ray Stevens. The population in 2020 was 23,401.Clarkdale began as a mill village built in 1932 to support a spinning mill of the Coats & Clark Thread Company. Both the mill and the neighborhood, consisting of 98 dwellings (a mixture of single-family and duplex floorplans), were designed by North Carolina architect Joseph Emory Sirrine. The neighborhood boasted many modern conveniences for the time, such as electricity and indoor plumbing. Additionally, residents enjoyed a public swimming pool, a community house for public functions, and a mill-sponsored baseball team. As the mill thrived, the community fostered the growth of several local businesses, a dedicated post office, and two churches, both of which still hold religious services as of 2020. Layoffs in the 1950s and 1960s preceded the mill's closing in 1983; in 1966, the homes were sold to current residents, many of whom were current or former employees of the mill. In 1987, Clarkdale was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. During the historic September 2009 Atlanta floods, Clarkdale Elementary School (part of Cobb County Public Schools) was ruined by Noses Creek in the hours after students and faculty evacuated. Although it was outside the 100-year flood plain, massive rainfall and upstream land development caused the stream to swell to more than 10 times its normal height, also flooding other locations in Clarkdale. The new Clarkdale Elementary School opened at a different location in August 2012.

Pebblebrook High School is a high school in the Cobb County School District in Mableton, Georgia, United States. The school opened in 1963, serving grades 9-12. Pebblebrook houses the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts, the first magnet program offered within the Cobb County School District.

South Cobb High School is an American public high school in Austell, Georgia. Founded in 1952, it is part of the Cobb County School District. Clint Terza succeeded Ashley Hosey as principal in 2016. Nominated as a National School of Excellence, South Cobb High School participates in the Cobb County magnet program. The school houses the county's program for medical sciences. Sweetwater Creek is a 45.6-mile-long (73.4 km) stream in the U.S. state of Georgia, west of Atlanta. It begins in southwestern Paulding County, flowing generally eastward into southwestern Cobb County, then turning south into eastern Douglas County. It is a tributary of the Chattahoochee River, and near its end it is the centerpiece of Sweetwater Creek State Park. Sweetwater Creek was named after AmaKanasta (Sweet Water), a Cherokee chieftain.Since 1904 there has been a stream gauge near Austell (actually in Lithia Springs), at latitude 33°46'22"N, longitude 84°36'53"W. The watershed area above this point is 246 square miles (640 km2). It is 857 feet (261 m) above mean sea level. The flood stage at this point is 10.0 feet (3.0 m). The identifier for this gauge is AUSG1. Major flooding occurred here in July 2005, after Hurricane Dennis dumped enormous amounts of rain across the Sweetwater Creek watershed, just after it had been soaked by Hurricane Cindy a few days before. The creek rose to one of its highest levels ever, flooding dozens of homes well beyond what was considered the 100-year flood plain. About 15 inches (380 mm) of rain fell at the gauge before it was ruined by the flood. In late September 2009, the worst flooding ever occurred on the creek, after days of heavy rain. New records were set, and many roads were left underwater by it, including Interstate 20, which was closed west of I-285 for nearly three days. The USGS stated that it was greater than a 500-year flood (it does not try to make any greater estimates). The National Weather Service said the chances of having more than 10 inches (25 cm) of rain in a 24-hour period were less than 0.01% per year, making it a 10,000-year event.The previous record flood was 20 feet (6.1 m) in July 1916. Base flow is around 2.7 feet (0.82 m).

Mableton is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. According to the 2020 census, Mableton has a population of 40,834. Upon Brookhaven's cityhood in December 2012, Mableton became the largest unincorporated CDP in Metro Atlanta.

Utoy Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is a tributary to the Chattahoochee River. Utoy Creek most likely was named for the Utoy Indians. The Battle of Utoy Creek was fought here in 1864.

The Beulah Grove Lodge No. 372, Free and Accepted York Masons, also known as Pleasant Grove School and Pleasant Grove Colored School, in Douglas County, Georgia near Douglasville, Georgia, was built in 1910. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.It is a two-story wood building.
