Wirdum, Friesland

The Protestant church of Swichum or Saint Nicholas Church is a religious building in Swichum, Netherlands, one of the many medieval churches in Friesland. The nave was built in the 13th century and the semicircular choir dates from the late 13th century; both are built out of red brick. The tower was built in the 14th century and the furniture in the church dates from the 19th century.The building is located on the Ayttadyk 3 and was once a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Nicholas but became a Protestant church after the Protestant reformation. It is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 24519, and is rated with a very high historical value and is in the care of Stichting Alde Fryske Tsjerken (Old Frisian Churches Foundation).

West Frisia (Latin: Frisia Occidentalis) is a term that, when used in an international context, refers to the traditionally Frisian areas that are located west of the Dollart (i.e. in the present-day Netherlands). A coalition of the Christian Democratic Appeal, the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy, the Labour Party, and the Frisian National Party forms the executive branch. The area of the province was once part of the ancient, larger region of Frisia. The land is mostly made up of grassland and it has numerous lakes. The official languages of Friesland are West Frisian and Dutch. It was named after the region of Frisia.

Wytgaard (Dutch: Wijtgaard or Wytgaard) is a village in Leeuwarden municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 570 in January 2017.

The Protestant church of Goutum or Saint Agnes church is a medieval religious building in Goutum, Friesland, Netherlands. On the north side remnants of an older tufa church from the 11th century or 12th century can be seen.The church was enlarged and heightened with brick in the 15th century and has a tower from the same century. The church was originally a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Agnes, becoming a Protestant church after the Protestant Reformation. It is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 24509. The building is located at 23 Buorren.

Goutum is a village in the municipality Leeuwarden in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 2,945 in January 2017. It is still an independent village, but is surrounded by the city of Leeuwarden on all sides. There are two windmills in Goutum, Kramersmolen and Molen Hoogland.

Reduzum (Dutch: Roordahuizum) is a village in Leeuwarden municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 1,320 in January 2017. The community is notable for working towards a sustainable energy consumption within the village.

De Hempenserpoldermolen is a smock mill in Wergea, Friesland, Netherlands which was built in 1863 and has been restored to working order. It is listed as a Rijksmonument.
