Mildam

De Tjongermolen is a smock mill in Mildam, Friesland, Netherlands which was built in 1918, replacing a mill that had blown down and rebuilt on a new site in 1983. The mill has been restored to working order. It is listed as a Rijksmonument.

Katlijk (West Frisian: Ketlik) is a village in Heerenveen in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 610 in 2017.

Brongerga (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbrɔ.ŋərˌɣaː]; West Frisian: Brongergea) is a hamlet in the Dutch municipality of Heerenveen in the province of Friesland. It is located in the Oranjewoud Park area, east of the village of Oranjewoud. It also formally falls under Oranjewoud. Brongerga was a small farming community that originated in the 11th or 12th century. This grew into a large church village from the 14th to the 17th century. The area of the village stretched from the raised bog of De Knipe on the Schoterlandse Compagnonsvaart to the river Tjonger. Several new centers emerged on the territory of the village. The first center was near a dam, which was called Mildam and was first mentioned in 1523. Another center that emerged bore the name Nieuw Brongerga which later became De Knipe. The new centers grew and the importance of Brongerga decreased from the 16th century onwards. The village area also shrank to eventually become a hamlet. With the rise of Oranjewoud it became a hamlet with only a small core of habitation.The Marijkemuoiwei road runs through the hamlet of Brongerga. There are a number of houses and farms. In 2004 it received its own white place name signs. The cemetery contains one of the wooden bell towers in Friesland and the burial vaults of the families of Limburg Stirum and De Blocq van Scheltinga. Furthermore, nearby Brongerga, on the 'mountain of Brongerga', is a belvedere.

The Oranjewoud Palace is a palace and estate which gives its name to Oranjewoud in the Province of Friesland in the Netherlands. Countess Albertine Agnes of Nassau, widow of William Frederick, Prince of Nassau-Dietz, acquired what was then known as the Schoterswoud at Heerenveen, an estate consisting of several fields, forests and buildings. She built a palace and gardens there, which after her death were inherited by John William Friso, Prince of Orange, who commissioned Daniel Marot to build the Paleis Oranjewoud. Work began in 1708 and continued under John William's wife Marie-Louise, but it was never completed and after a period of neglect it was terminated. The current house on the estate was built in 1829.

Bontebok is a village in Heerenveen in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 400 in 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1640 as Bonte Bock, and is named after an inn which used a goat as a sign board. Bontebok developed during the peat excavation of the area. The inn was located near a sluice where boatmen had to wait. The inn was later joined by a couple of shops and pubs, and a hamlet developed. In 1840, Bontebok was home to 46 people. In 1898, a dairy factory opened in Bontebok.

Nijeholtwolde (West Frisian: Nijeholtwâlde) is a village in Weststellingwerf in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 183 in 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1320 as Nieholtwolt, and means "new low-lying wood". Nije (new) has been added to distinguish from Oldeholtwolde. The church of Nijeholtwolde was demolished around 1700. There were no funds to rebuilt it, and a bell tower was constructed instead. The tower has been restored in 1982.In 1840, Nijeholtwolde was home to 225 people.

De Knipe (archaic: Dutch: De Knijpe) is a village in the municipality (Dutch: Gemeente) Heerenveen in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 1,455 in January 2017.

Ter Idzard (West Frisian: Teridzert) is a village in Weststellingwerf in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 310 in 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1320 as Ydzerde, and means "settlement of Idzerd (person)". The Roman Catholic church dates from 1903 and has a spire from 1926, however the village probably had a church around 1100.The Idzerda Stins was a stins (estate) in the village owned by the Idzerda family. It already existed around 1500. Meinte Idzerda was grietman (a combination of mayor and judge) of Weststellingwerf between 1600 and 1619. The estate was demolished in 1740 and replaced by a farm.Ter Idzard was home to 446 people in 1840.

Oudeschoot (West Frisian: Aldskoat) is a village in Heerenveen in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 1,580 in January 2017.

Langezwaag (West Frisian: Langsweagen) is a village in the municipality of Opsterland in the east of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 1,365 in January 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1315 as Utresuagh, and means "long meadow with caddle". Lange (long) has been added to distinguish from Kortezwaag. Kortezwaag was annexed by Gorredijk in 1962 and is now a neighbourhood. The Dutch Reformed church was built in 1781 as a replacement of a medieval church. Langezwaag was home to 956 people in 1840.

Jonkerslân (Dutch: Jonkersland) is a village consisting of around 295 inhabitants in the municipality of Opsterland in the east of Friesland, the Netherlands. The village was first mentioned in 1899 as Jonkersland, and means land of the Jonkheer which is probably a reference to Juw Dekama. Jonkerslân developed into a peat colony in the 18th century. In 1988, it was awarded a village status.

Oldeholtpade (West Frisian: Aldeholtpea) is a village in Weststellingwerf in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 1,020 in 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1204 as "Holenpathe juxta Liennam1", and means "old low-lying path". Olde (old) has been added to distinguish from Nijeholtpade. Oldeholtpade is a road village which developed along the Wolvega to Oosterwolde road. The Dutch Reformed church was built in 1545 to replace a church from 1204. The tower was built in 1608.Oldeholtpade was home to 407 people in 1840.
