Wallington was an ancient hundred in the northeast of the historic county of Surrey, England. The majority of its area has been absorbed by the growth of London; with its name currently referring to the district of Wallington. Its former area now corresponds to the London Borough of Sutton, the majority of the London Borough of Croydon and parts of the London Borough of Merton as well as parts of the Districts of Epsom and Ewell, Reigate and Banstead and Tandridge in Surrey.

Bensham Manor is a ward in the London Borough of Croydon, covering part of the Thornton Heath area of London in the United Kingdom. The ward extends from Thornton Heath railway station westwards and is largely residential with a retail or industrial core. The population of the Ward at the 2011 Census was 16,201.The ward currently forms part of Steve Reed MP's Croydon North constituency. The ward returns three councillors every four years to Croydon Council. At the 2006 Croydon Council election, Raj Rajendran, Paula Shaw, and Greta Sohoye were elected to the council. All of them were running as Labour Party candidates. Councillor Shaw resigned in 2007 triggering a by-election on 18 February 2007 which was won by Labour's Alison Butler.

Thornton Heath is a district of South London, England, within the London Borough of Croydon. It is around 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of the town of Croydon, and 7.2 miles (11.6 km) south of Charing Cross. Prior to the creation of Greater London in 1965, Thornton Heath was in the County Borough of Croydon.

Whitehorse Manor Junior School is a junior school for pupils aged between seven and eleven years. The school is located in Thornton Heath. In April 2011 the school became part of the first Academy Trust in Croydon and the running of the school became part of the responsibility of the Pegasus Academy Trust, a public company limited by guarantee. The Executive Headteachers of The Pegasus Academy Trust are Jolyon Roberts and Lynne Sampson. The school caters for pupils from Year 3 to Year 6. The uniform of the school is a burgundy sweatshirt with the school logo, white shirt and grey trousers or skirt. The school is expanding the number of forms on entry from two to three. There are currently 450 pupils on roll with a maximum of 30 pupils in each of 15 classes. To cater for these extra children a major building project took place between April 2010 and April 2014 providing seven extra classrooms, new offices, extended hall and library. The scheme was designed by the architects Hayhurst and Co and won a RIBA London award in May 2014. In September 2014 the school opened an annexe about two-thirds of a mile (1.1 km) away known as Whitehorse Manor - Brigstock site which allows another 210 children to be educated by the school - the original site having reached capacity. The current Head of School is Nina Achenbach BA (QTS), NPQH.

Queen's Road Cemetery is a cemetery in Croydon, England. It opened in 1861, and was followed in 1897 by the larger Croydon Cemetery in Mitcham Road. Both cemeteries are now managed by the London Borough of Croydon. Queen's Road Cemetery covers approximately 22 acres (89,000 m2) and is in the north of the borough of Croydon, east of Mayday Hospital and west of Selhurst railway station. It has about 50,000 graves and approximately 97,000 burials have taken place since it opened. The graves are shaded by large trees and landscaped with shrubbery beds.

Selhurst High School for Boys is a name that has been given to two separate schools in England that existed at different times, but occupied the same site. The former school had been a grammar school that closed in 1988, the latter was the relaunch of a former comprehensive school, Ingram, under a different name in a different location. Thus, the current Selhurst High School for Boys is not simply an extension of the old school but rather has a more complex heritage. The school, located in the north of Croydon, is currently referred to as Selhurst Mathematics and Computing Specialist School. The school is notable not only in the eminent alumni that feature among its forerunners' former pupils, but also because of the dramatic contrasts in its academic fortunes over time.

Grangewood Park is an extensive woodland area situated in South Norwood, London. It is managed by the London Borough of Croydon. It is bounded by Grange Road, Wharncliffe Road, and Ross Road. It covers an area of 27.7 acres (11.2 hectares). The park is located on the main A212 road (Grange Road) between Thornton Heath and Upper Norwood/Crystal Palace. The nearest stations are Thornton Heath, Selhurst and Norwood Junction.

Selective in its intake but free to attend, the school is notable for its celebrity alumni.Opened on 22 October 1991 under the CTC programme, the school is funded by the British Government with support from the British Record Industry Trust and other charity partners and donations and maintains an independent school status from the local education authority.

Croydon University Hospital, known from 1923 to 2002 as Mayday Hospital and from 2002 to 2010 as Croydon Hospital, is a large NHS hospital in Thornton Heath in south London, England run by Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. It is a District General Hospital with a 24-hour Accident and Emergency department. The hospital is based on a 19-acre (7.7 ha) site in Thornton Heath to the north of central Croydon.
