Riverview Dam

River View is a subdivision of Valley, Alabama on the Chattahoochee River. On May 20, 1980, the communities of Shawmut, Langdale, Fairfax, and River View merged to form the city of Valley. It is the location of Riverview Historic District, which is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Crow Hop Dam is a lowhead dam on the Chattahoochee River. The dam was built to channel the river westward around the west side of Hills Island to increase generation capacity at Riverview Dam slightly downstream. It is only around 640 ft (195 m) away from Alabama's state border, which here lies along the river's western bank in Chambers County, Alabama, west of Hills Island. Georgia Power has applied for permission to remove Crow Hop Dam in 2023.

Johnson Island is a river island in the U.S. state of Georgia. Johnson Island was named after Benjamin Johnson, an original owner of the site.

House Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is a tributary to the Chattahoochee River. House Creek was named for a dwelling house along its course. A variant name was "Old House Creek".

Langdale Dam is a lowhead dam on the Chattahoochee River just south of Langdale, Alabama. The dam was built in 1908 to provide electricity for the former Langdale Mills, and is now owned and operated by Georgia Power. It produces an average of 1 megawatt of hydroelectric power. The river here lies entirely on the Georgia side of the state line, but the dam itself does enter into Alabama territory. Georgia Power has applied for permission to remove Langdale Dam in 2023.

Langdale Historic District is a historic district in Valley, Alabama, and Harris County, Georgia, United States. It was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on July 22, 1991, and the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on November 12, 1999. It lies primarily in Valley, Alabama, on the west side of the Chattahoochee River.

The Fairfax Historic District in Valley, Alabama, United States, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. It is a 240-acre (97 ha) area roughly bounded by River Road, Spring Street, Lamer Street, Derson Street, Combs Street, and Cussetta Road in Valley. The district includes 372 contributing buildings, a contributing structure, and four contributing sites. The district is centered around a textile mill and the surrounding buildings, the majority of which are mill worker cottages. Other building include commercial, civic, recreational, and civic structures. The architect of the mill was a Mr. Agnew (or Agnue). The village was designed by landscape architect William B. Marquis, who later became a partner at Olmsted Brothers. Architectural styles include Colonial Revival, and Bungalow/Craftsman.

Valley is a city in Chambers County, Alabama, United States. Valley was incorporated in 1980 combining the four textile mill villages of Fairfax, Langdale, River View, and Shawmut. As of the 2020 census it had a population of 10,529. The city lies on the western bank of the Chattahoochee River, the state border between Alabama and Georgia. Valley is a pilot city for the Alabama Communities of Excellence program, a non-profit that partners with governments, businesses, and universities to prepare participating communities for a more vibrant future. It is included in the LaGrange, Georgia Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Greater Atlanta Combined Statistical Area.

The Shawmut Historic District, in Valley, Alabama, United States, is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. The listing included 275 contributing buildings, a contributing structure, and a contributing site on 201 acres (0.81 km2). It is roughly bounded by 25th Boulevard, 29th Boulevard, 20th Avenue, 35th Street, and 38th Boulevard. It includes work by the Lockwood, Greene & Company. The architecture is in the Bungalow/Craftsman and Depression modern styles.
