Lanett is a city in Chambers County, Alabama, United States. At the 2010 census the population was 6,468, down from 7,897 in 2000. Lanett, originally called Bluffton, is located in eastern Alabama, on the Chattahoochee River, southwest of Atlanta. The city's name is derived from Lafayette Lanier and Theodore Bennett, founders of the West Point Manufacturing Company.

Lanett City School District is a school district in Chambers County, Alabama, United States. It was established in 1898.

Valley is a city in Chambers County, Alabama, United States. Valley was incorporated in 1980 combining the four textile mill villages of Fairfax, Langdale, River View, and Shawmut. As of the 2020 census it had a population of 10,529. The city lies on the western bank of the Chattahoochee River, the state border between Alabama and Georgia. Valley is a pilot city for the Alabama Communities of Excellence program, a non-profit that partners with governments, businesses, and universities to prepare participating communities for a more vibrant future. It is included in the LaGrange, Georgia Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Greater Atlanta Combined Statistical Area.

Langdale Dam is a lowhead dam on the Chattahoochee River just south of Langdale, Alabama. The dam was built in 1908 to provide electricity for the former Langdale Mills, and is now owned and operated by Georgia Power. It produces an average of 1 megawatt of hydroelectric power. The river here lies entirely on the Georgia side of the state line, but the dam itself does enter into Alabama territory. Georgia Power has applied for permission to remove Langdale Dam in 2023.

Langdale Historic District is a historic district in Valley, Alabama, and Harris County, Georgia, United States. It was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on July 22, 1991, and the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on November 12, 1999. It lies primarily in Valley, Alabama, on the west side of the Chattahoochee River.

The Hawkes Children's Library in West Point, Georgia was built in 1922. It is one of the Hawkes Children's Library buildings inspired and funded with support from Albert King Hawkes, who funded six children's libraries in rural towns throughout Georgia. The building is a work of architectural and engineering firm Robert & Co. and was constructed by Batson & Cook. It includes Colonial Revival and Georgian Revival architecture. The library was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. The library is located along the Chattahoochee River in West Point. It contains historical information for Troup County, Georgia and Chambers County, Alabama. The library also hosts educational and arts programs.

West Point is a city in Troup and Harris counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is located approximately halfway between Montgomery, Alabama and Atlanta along Interstate 85. As of 2020, its population was 3,719. Most of the city is in Troup County, which is part of the LaGrange micropolitan statistical area, and hence part of the Atlanta-Athens-Clarke County-Sandy Springs, GA combined statistical area. A sliver in the south is in Harris County, which is part of the Columbus metropolitan statistical area.

The Point Skyhawks are the athletic teams that represent Point University, located in West Point, Georgia, in intercollegiate sports in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Skyhawks primarily compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC). They are affiliate members of the Appalachian Athletic Conference for football. Its football team was a member of the Sun Conference for the 2014 and 2015 fall seasons, before moving to the Appalachian Division of the Mid-South Conference (MSC) where they competed from the 2017 to 2021 fall seasons. They were also a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), primarily competing as an independent in the South Region of the Division II level. On August 9, 2022, Point was invited and unanimously approved to join the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), effective July 1, 2023.

Point University is a private evangelical Christian college in West Point, Georgia and was founded in 1937 as Atlanta Christian College in East Point. The college announced its name change to Point University in 2011 and relocated its main campus to West Point in June 2012. As of 2022, over 2,000 students are enrolled both onsite and online.

The Battle of West Point, Georgia (April 16, 1865), formed part of the Union campaign through Alabama and Georgia, known as Wilson's Raid, in the final full month of the American Civil War. The rail junction of West Point was one of the two Chattahoochee River crossings, which General James H. Wilson planned to destroy after capturing Montgomery, Alabama. Dividing his army, he detailed Colonel Oscar Hugh La Grange to attack West Point, while he himself moved downriver to instigate the Battle of Columbus, to take that important Confederate manufacturing center. West Point was fortified by the earthwork of Fort Tyler, commanded by Confederate Brig. Gen. Robert C. Tyler, for whom it was named. Union artillery and dismounted cavalry, armed with Spencer repeater-carbines, soon forced the garrison to surrender, Tyler being shot dead by a sniper, and becoming the last Confederate General killed. On hearing of the victory at Columbus, Union troops were free to burn the bridge and the railroad stock. It was one of the last battles of the war.

Springwood School is a private school in Lanett, Alabama, United States. The school was founded in 1970 and has been described as segregation academy.

The Fairfax Historic District in Valley, Alabama, United States, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. It is a 240-acre (97 ha) area roughly bounded by River Road, Spring Street, Lamer Street, Derson Street, Combs Street, and Cussetta Road in Valley. The district includes 372 contributing buildings, a contributing structure, and four contributing sites. The district is centered around a textile mill and the surrounding buildings, the majority of which are mill worker cottages. Other building include commercial, civic, recreational, and civic structures. The architect of the mill was a Mr. Agnew (or Agnue). The village was designed by landscape architect William B. Marquis, who later became a partner at Olmsted Brothers. Architectural styles include Colonial Revival, and Bungalow/Craftsman.
