Golf School District 67 is located in Morton Grove, Illinois. The Village of Morton Grove is approximately 13 miles north of downtown Chicago. The district consists of two schools: Hynes Elementary School and Golf Middle School. Students in Pre-Kindergarten through fourth grade attend Hynes Elementary School, and those in grades five through eight attend Golf Middle School. The school district has an enrollment of approximately 695 students (as of 2022) and is served by 90 teachers and staff. The school district serves students in parts of Morton Grove and Niles. Geographically the district also includes portions of Glenview and Skokie that lack residents. Despite its name, the district does not include any part of Golf, Illinois, although it did prior to 1980. As of the 2000 census, the district's total population was 6,738, with 2,446 households.The district serves approximately 695 students.

The 9th congressional district of Illinois covers parts of Cook County, as of the 2011 redistricting which followed the 2010 census. All or parts of Chicago, Des Plaines, Evanston, Glenview, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, Mount Prospect, Niles, Park Ridge, Prospect Heights, Skokie, Wilmette, Winnetka, and Arlington Heights are included. It is anchored in Chicago's North Side, along Lake Michigan, and covers many of Chicago's northern suburbs. Democrat Jan Schakowsky has represented the district since January 1999. The district is one of the most reliably Democratic districts in Chicago, and in all of Illinois. It has been in Democratic hands without interruption since 1949, and for all but six years since 1935.

The 1933 U.S. Open was the 37th U.S. Open, held June 8–10 at North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Illinois, a suburb northwest of Chicago. Amateur Johnny Goodman outlasted Ralph Guldahl by a single stroke to win his only major championship.Goodman's victory 89 years ago was the eighth and most recent by an amateur at the U.S. Open; Bobby Jones won four, the last in 1930 was part of his grand slam. Goodman, an Omaha insurance salesman, opened with a 75 (+3), which put him seven strokes off the lead held by 1927 champion Tommy Armour. His second round was one for the record books, as he tied Gene Sarazen's tournament record with a 66 (−6). Following a third round 70 in which he needed just 28 putts, Goodman had a six-stroke lead over Guldahl.After opening the final round with a par, eagle, and birdie, Goodman's play suddenly declined as he shot six over par for the next six holes; the lead was reduced to two strokes at the turn. Goodman bounced back and recorded four consecutive pars, then bogeyed 14, birdied 15, and bogeyed 17. A par at the last gave him a 76 and a 287 total. At the final hole, Guldahl found a greenside bunker and missed the four-foot (1.2 m) putt to save par that would have forced a Sunday playoff. Brothers Mortie and Olin Dutra of California placed in the top ten at sixth and seventh, respectively. Olin won the title the next year at Merion, near Philadelphia. A number of amateurs came close to winning majors in the generation after Goodman's victory. Frank Stranahan tied for second at the 1947 Open Championship and 1953 Open Championship. Ken Venturi, age 24, led the Masters in 1956 for the first three rounds but finished runner-up by a stroke. At the 1960 U.S. Open 20-year-old Jack Nicklaus of Ohio State led midway through the final round and finished runner-up, two strokes back. The final runner-up finish for an amateur was at the 1961 Masters Tournament when Charles Coe tied for second with Arnold Palmer. However Goodman was the last amateur to ever win a major championship. The most recent top ten finish at the U.S. Open by an amateur was in 1971 when 54-hole leader Jim Simons of Wake Forest placed fifth. Goodman's only other top ten finish at the U.S. Open was in 1937, in eighth place as low amateur; he won the U.S. Amateur championship later that year.

The 1904 U.S. Open was the tenth U.S. Open, held July 8–9 at Glen View Club in Golf, Illinois, a suburb northwest of Chicago. Defending champion Willie Anderson won the third of his four U.S. Open titles, five strokes ahead of runner-up Gilbert Nicholls.Anderson shared the lead with Stewart Gardner at 75 on Friday morning, but a 78 in the afternoon dropped him two behind after 36 holes. In the third round on Saturday morning, Fred Mackenzie shot 74 to take a two-stroke lead over Anderson and Gardner after 54 holes. Mackenzie and Gardner fell back in the afternoon; Mackenzie's 80 took him down to third and Gardner's 85 dropped him to sixth. Anderson had 72 for the lowest round in U.S. Open history, and his 303 also established a new championship low. Nicholls posted a 73 in the final round to finish ascend the leaderboard to second place.Anderson was the first to successfully defend a U.S. Open title, and he would become the first to win three straight the following year, yet to be equaled. For the first time, the U.S. Open adopted a cut after 36 holes, eliminating those more than fifteen shots behind tenth place.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, often abbreviated OLPH, is a Roman Catholic parish of the Archdiocese of Chicago located in suburban Glenview, Illinois, approximately 16 miles (26 km) north-northwest of downtown Chicago. Originally established in 1907 as the Mission of St. Joseph, Our Lady of Perpetual Help is now one of two Catholic parishes in Glenview along with St. Catherine Laboure. The parish numbers about 3,000 families. As a result, OLPH celebrates no fewer than seven Masses every weekend. Rev. Jeremiah "Jerry" Boland is the current pastor, and Rev. Thomas E. Hickey is pastor emeritus. In addition, OLPH has three associate pastors and two deacon couples.

Glenview station is a Metra commuter rail and Amtrak intercity rail station in Glenview, Illinois, United States, north of Chicago. The station is located at 1116 Depot Street, 17.5 miles (28.2 km) from Union Station, the southern terminus of the lines. The facility opened in March 1995 as a replacement for a since-demolished 1950s era station. The new station, designed by Legat Architects of Waukegan, cost approximately $3 million and was funded from a number of sources, including Metra, the Illinois Department of Transportation, Amtrak and the village of Glenview.On Metra, the station is located on the Milwaukee District North Line that runs between Chicago Union Station and Fox Lake, Illinois. On Amtrak, the station is located on two lines, the Hiawatha that runs between Chicago Union Station and Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the Empire Builder that operates between Chicago, Seattle, Washington, and Portland, Oregon. It also served the short-lived Lake Country Limited which ran between Chicago and Janesville, Wisconsin between April 15, 2000, and September 23, 2001. Frequent, daily service is provided on both the Milwaukee District North Line and the Hiawatha, while the Empire Builder provides once-a-day service. Normally, passengers traveling between Glenview and Chicago or Glenview and Milwaukee are not permitted to board or disembark on the Empire Builder at Glenview, due to the availability of the more frequent Metra and Amtrak Hiawatha routes. However, for much of the spring of 2020, the Empire Builder allowed local travel between Glenview and Milwaukee when the Hiawatha was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is proposed that the Amtrak service would shift one stop north to North Glenview. This move would eliminate lengthy stops which block traffic on Glenview Road. This move would involve reconstruction of the North Glenview station to handle the additional traffic, and depends on commitments from Glenview, the Illinois General Assembly and Metra.As of 2018, Glenview is the 22nd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,462 weekday boardings.As of 2022, Glenview is served by all 19 Metra trains in each direction on weekdays, by all 10 Metra trains in each direction on Saturdays, and by all nine Metra trains in each direction on Sundays.

North Shore Country Club is a private country club in Glenview, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Founded in 1900, it features a 7,031 yard 18-hole golf course. In 1933, it hosted the U.S. Open that was won by Johnny Goodman. It has also hosted the Western Open once and the U.S. Amateur twice. It was host site of the Encompass Championship on the Champions Tour from 2013 to 2015. The course was designed by English architect Charles Allison of Colt MacKenzie and Alison.

The Encompass Championship was a golf tournament on the Champions Tour. It was played for the first time in 2013 at the North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Illinois. The purse for the 2013 tournament was $1,800,000, with $270,000 going to the winner.

Morton Grove is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 25,297.The village is named after former United States Vice President Levi Parsons Morton, who helped finance the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad (later the Milwaukee Road), which roughly tracked the North Branch of the Chicago River in the area and established a stop at the old Miller's Mill. Miller's Mill Road, now Lincoln Avenue, connected the former riverside sawmill to the township's central settlement (Niles Center, now Skokie). The railroad stop facilitated trade and development; the upstart neighborhood grew enough to incorporate in December 1895.

The Herbert A. Dilg House is a historic house at 8544 Callie Avenue in Morton Grove, Illinois. The house was built circa 1925-26 by owner and Morton Grove mayor Herbert A. Dilg. The grandson of an early Morton Grove settler, Dilg served as the village's mayor from 1925 to 1926 and again from 1931 to 1944, overseeing its transition into a suburban community of Chicago. Dilg designed his house in the Chicago bungalow style, a popular choice for middle-class homes in early twentieth century Chicago. The brick house's design includes an octagonal bay containing the living room, a raised front porch at the main entrance, a dormer, and a clay tile roof. Unlike many of the bungalows in the Chicago area, the house is part of a diverse group of houses rather than a row of similar bungalows.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 30, 2009.

Morton Grove is a commuter railroad station on Metra's Milwaukee District North Line in Morton Grove, Illinois. The station is located at 8501 Lehigh Ave., is 14.6 miles (23.5 km) away from Union Station, the southern terminus of the line, and serves commuters between Union Station and Fox Lake, Illinois. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Morton Grove is in zone C. As of 2018, Morton Grove is the 54th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 967 weekday boardings.As of 2022, Morton Grove is served by all 19 inbound trains and 14 outbound trains on weekdays, by all 10 trains in both directions on Saturdays, and by all nine trains in both directions on Sundays. Morton Grove station was originally built by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad in 1892. Parking is available in front of the station, as well as along the side of sections Lehigh Avenue and Elm Street from Lehigh to the dead end at St. Paul Woods, part of the Cook County Forest Preserve.

Glenview Creek flows on the eastern side of Glenview, Illinois, in the County of Cook. It now originates just south of Glenview Road and alongside the abandoned Skokie Subdivision of the Union Pacific Railroad (formerly Chicago & North Western) right of way. Glenview Creek flows in a west by southwest direction for approximately 3/4 of a mile to where it enters the Middle Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River in Harms Woods. A 1910 map shows Glenview Creek had an arm that at one time originated near the current intersection of the Edens Expressway and Old Orchard Road (formerly Harrison Street), then farmland. This long arm arising in the south is labeled as a ditch which crosses Harrison Street twice before heading north towards the main stem near Glenview Road. Another arm travels from the northeast to the southwest where it joins the arm coming up from Harrison Street at Glenview Road. The Chicago & North Western (C&NW) tracks cross on a trestle four feet high over the creek per the map label. The map gives a key coordinate, showing the trestle over Glenview Creek being precisely 1800 feet north of Harrison Street which validates its identity and location.Valuation photos taken by the C&NW from approximately 1926 show two pairs of wooden trestles-one set for the C&NW and another set for the parallel Chicago, North Shore, & Milwaukee (CNS&M, this line was constructed in 1925)-spanning Glenview Creek just south of Glenview Road. The original captions on the photos clearly label the creek as "Glenview Creek."Plans to bury Glenview Creek emerge as soon as 1933. A Glenview View article from September 15, 1933 states: "The larger of the two projects is for the installation of storm sewer drains in that part of the village lying east of Harms Road. This job was authorized some time ago, but never completed. The cost is approximately $80,000. The other project calls for the completion of the sanitary sewer system immediately east of the Skokie [CNS&M] tracks and lying along the Wilmette boundary line. This work, costing about $10,000, was also unfinished. Both are special assessment projects."In 1935 the Village of Glenview awaited approval of a Works Progress Administration set of public works projects to put people to work. According to the Glenview View newspaper: "The largest of these projects is for the extension of the village sewerage system in the eastern part of the village. This would take in a large undeveloped area east of Harms Road and would add materially to the attractiveness of the property as a residential area. Many men would be employed digging the ditches, if this application is approved."By 1936, the Works Progress Administration (WPA) project was approved and it placed most of Glenview Creek into storm sewers from Laramie Avenue west by southwest to Harms Road both to create Depression Era jobs and to facilitate drainage. According to a January, 1937, article in the Glenview View newspaper some 35 men were kept employed channeling these waters into a system of storm sewers. The article stated that the next step would be to put the surface waters of Glenview Creek east of the parallel railroad right-of-ways of the C&NW and the CNS&M in a sewer.Glenview Creek shows up on an aerial photo of the area dated 1938 still flowing in the open from Echo Lane west through the area that later became Cunliff Park. To the south are farms. Its two arms in the headwaters are still shown. So given the articles above perhaps the work was not finished on time.At some point prior to the mid-1960s the railroad trestles over Glenview Creek were replaced by precast culverts covered by earthen fill. Into the early 1970s the creek in this section between the two railroad ROWs ran clear and featured ferns along its shaded banks. Glenview Creek now comes to the surface only in ditches between the two former railroad right-of-ways near Long Road on the far east side of the village and then again where it re-emerges from under Harms Road and flows some 150 feet into the Middle Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River. Glenview Creek historically appears on a number of maps-even after it disappeared from the surface. A USGS topographical map from 1980 clearly shows the contours of the gentle valley carved out by the then underground Glenview Creek including the stubs of its one-time arms in its headwaters.An undated map from the Glenview Public Library shows Glenview Creek running on the surface from the C&NW and CNS&M ROWs all the way to where it empties into the Middle Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River near Harms Road. The map presumably is dated prior to 1955 since it shows the Chesterfield Golf Course which was purchased that year by the Glenview Park District and renamed the Glenview Park Golf Golf Club. This map also shows the Edens Expressway which was opened in December 1951 so the timeframe would be between 1951 and 1955. The map however contradicts the article in the Glenview View from 1937 about Glenview Creek being buried in storm sewers though this map may have simply borrowed from other sources while sometimes maps can lag behind. Another undated map from the Glenview Public Library shows Glenview Creek in section 8014 of New Trier Township.Finally, Glenview Creek makes another appearance in a map contained in the book Route of the Electroliners where it crossed the Skokie Valley Line of the CNS&M by the CNS&M Glenayre train station on Glenview's far east side.Heavy rains on September 13, 2008, caused water to back up from the Middle Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River all the way east up the original valley of Glenview Creek to Laramie Avenue in a 100 year flood.
