Fleetwood Park was a 19th-century harness racing track in what is now the Morrisania section of the Bronx in New York, United States. The races were a popular form of entertainment, drawing crowds as large as 10,000 spectators, who would come from Manhattan and Brooklyn. One travel guide described the 1-mile course as "the most famous trotting track in the country".The track operated under various managements between 1870 and 1898. Most notable was the New York Driving Club, composed of many wealthy businessmen of New York, including members of the Vanderbilt and Rockefeller families. Economic pressures forced the track to close in 1898, and within two years the property was being subdivided into residential building lots. One of the few remaining vestiges of the track's former existence is the meandering route of 167th street, which runs along a portion of the old racecourse.

The Grand Concourse (also known as the Grand Boulevard and Concourse) is a 5.2-mile-long (8.4 km) thoroughfare in the borough of the Bronx in New York City. Grand Concourse runs through several neighborhoods, including Bedford Park, Concourse, Highbridge, Fordham, Mott Haven, Norwood and Tremont. For most of its length, the Concourse is 180 feet (55 m) wide, though portions of the Concourse are narrower. The Grand Concourse was designed by Louis Aloys Risse, an immigrant from Saint-Avold, Lorraine, France. Risse first conceived of the road in 1890, and the Concourse was built between 1894 and 1909, with an additional extension in 1927. The development of the Concourse led to the construction of apartment buildings surrounding the boulevard, and by 1939 it was called "the Park Avenue of middle-class Bronx residents". A period of decline followed in the 1960s and 1970s, when these residences became dilapidated and the Concourse was redesigned to be more motorist-friendly. Renovation and redevelopment started in the 1980s, and a portion of the Grand Concourse was reconstructed starting in the 2000s. The southern portion of the Grand Concourse is surrounded by several historically important residential buildings, which were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 as part of the Grand Concourse Historic District. In 2011, the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission designated numerous buildings around the Grand Concourse as part of a city landmark district. Additionally, several individual points of interest are located on or near the Concourse, including the Bronx Museum of the Arts and Edgar Allan Poe Cottage.

1100 Grand Concourse is a co-operative apartment building located in the Concourse neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City. It was built in 1928 and was originally called the John Ericsson Building; John Ericsson's name can still be found in several parts of the structure. It has been considered by The New York Times as one of the most prominent residential buildings in the Bronx.The building is part of the Grand Concourse Historic District.

The Andrew Freedman Home is a historic building constructed for Andrew Freedman that has been renovated into an artists' hub consisting of an interdisciplinary artist residency, an incubator space, workforce development and community services. It is a New York City Designated Landmark. The money to build it was bequeathed by Freedman. Located at 1125 Grand Concourse in Concourse, Bronx, New York City, the Andrew Freedman Home was designed as a retirement home for wealthy individuals who had lost their fortunes. The trust that operated the Andrew Freedman Home ran out of money in the 1960s. The home was reopened in 1983 for all elderly individuals, regardless of past financial status. As of 2012, the Andrew Freedman Home serves as a day-care center and event space.

All Hallows High School (formerly known as All Hallows Institute) is a Catholic boys' high school in South Bronx, New York, United States. Located at 111 East 164th Street, near Yankee Stadium, the school has an enrollment of approximately 574 boys, 99% of whom are persons of color.Despite sitting in the poorest Congressional district in the country, All Hallows routinely places its entire graduating class in four-year colleges. The Wall Street Journal has called the school's success in this area "stunning". The Acton Institute has named All Hallows as one of the top 50 Catholic high schools in the United States for nine consecutive years. It is located within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York and is the only city school in the Archdiocese of New York to have earned this distinction.

A fire broke out shortly after 2:30am on October 24, 1976, at the Puerto Rican Social Club in the Bronx, New York City, as a result of arson. Jose Antonio Cordero, reportedly either a jealous lover or enraged family member of a woman attending the club, offered two teenagers, Francisco Mendez and Hector Lopez, rum and marijuana in exchange for setting fire to the club. Mendez poured gasoline around the property, while Lopez set it alight. The fire spread quickly, and club patrons found the fire escape blocked by a metal door that had been installed to prevent burglaries. The fire killed 25 patrons and injured 24 others. Cordero pleaded guilty to arson, Mendez pleaded guilty to 25 counts of murder, and Lopez received a life sentence for striking the match.

The Bronx School for Law, Government and Justice (LGJ) is a New York City Department of Education public school in the Concourse Village neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City, United States. With the support of the Urban Assembly, it was founded in September 1997 and educates students in grades six through twelve. The founding principal was David Banks. Meisha Ross Porter continued his work until being succeeded by the current principal Johanie Hernandez. The school is located next to the Bronx Hall of Justice.

The 167th Street station is a local station on the IND Concourse Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of 167th Street and Grand Concourse in the Highbridge and Concourse neighborhoods of the Bronx, it is served by the D train at all times except rush hours in peak direction and the B train during rush hours.

The Kent Theater was located on 167th street between the Grand Concourse and Sheridan Avenue in the Concourse section of The Bronx. It was opened in the 1930s and closed early 1990s. Terminator 2: Judgment Day was the last show at the theater before it was converted to a 99 cent store.

The Concourse Plaza Hotel was a luxury hotel at Grand Concourse and East 161st Street in the Concourse neighborhood of the Bronx in New York City. Once the site of presidential campaign stops and host to major sports stars, it is now a senior citizens' residence owned and operated by the government of New York City.

The Church of St. Angela Merici is a Roman Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 917 Morris Avenue, Bronx, New York City. It was established in 1899. It has been staffed by the Apostles of Jesus since 2000.

The Lorelei Fountain, also known as the Heinrich Heine Memorial, is a monument located on East 161st Street in the Concourse section of the Bronx, New York City, near the Bronx County Courthouse. It was designed by German sculptor Ernst Herter and created in 1896 out of Italian white marble in Laas, South Tyrol. The fountain was unveiled at its current location in 1899 and is dedicated to German poet and writer Heinrich Heine. Heine had once written a poem devoted to the Lorelei, a feminine water spirit much like a mermaid that is associated with the Lorelei rock in St. Goarshausen, Germany. The monument was originally to be placed in Heine's hometown of Düsseldorf, but antisemitism and nationalist propaganda in the German Empire precluded its planned completion on Heine's 100th birthday in 1897.
