The Judge William Wilson House was an antebellum house in Atlanta, Georgia. It was built on land in a community west of Atlanta that was then called Adamsville which Wilson had inherited from his father William "Dollar Mill" Wilson (1775–1839) in 1839, and as the area around it developed came to be located in the Fairburn Heights neighborhood, a suburban area west of the Perimeter (I-285). At the end, it was one of only a few remaining antebellum structures still standing in its original location within the Atlanta city limits. The house was built in the Greek Revival style between 1856–1859 and was the main house of a plantation that, at twelve hundred acres, was one of the largest in the area. The house was used during the Battle of Atlanta by Union General William Tecumseh Sherman as a temporary headquarters. After the war, William Asbury Wilson (1824–1903) served as a representative in the Georgia General Assembly, as a justice of the inferior court in Fulton County, and as the county's sheriff. The house remained in the Wilson family into the 1962 when the great grandson of the builder sold the property to the Holy Family Hospital who used it as housing for their nurses. Its final use was as a community center. By 2011 the house was disused, the roof was falling in and there were cracks in the stone walls. In that year it was added to the Atlanta Preservation Center's "Most Endangered Properties" list. The unannounced demolition of the house in December 2015 "came as a surprise" to the preservation community, who had hoped to stabilize the building until other plans could be made to save it.

Benjamin E. Mays High School is a public school located in southwest Atlanta, Georgia, United States, serving grades 9-12. It is a part of the Atlanta Public School System and is a Georgia School of Excellence. The school was established in the fall of 1981 and was named after Benjamin Elijah Mays, an educator, author and civil rights activist. The school's athletic nickname is the Raiders.

Carver College is a private Bible college located in Atlanta, Georgia. It was established in 1943 as the Carver Bible Institute. The institute was founded by Solomon Randolph, a Black pastor in Atlanta, and Grace and Talmage Payne, graduates of the Moody Bible Institute. It was named after the agricultural scientist George Washington Carver. The campus underwent major renovations in 1997, including remodeling the administration building, the gymnasium and establishing a new bookstore for the campus. The college received full accreditation from the Association for Biblical Higher Education in 2006. In 2009, the Carver Bible College was renamed Carver College.As of 2017, Carver had a total enrollment of 60 students. The undergraduate tuition was approximately $12,000. It offers undergraduate programs in Business Administration, Psychology, and Biblical Studies.Carver's athletics teams are known as the Cougars and compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association. The athletic program was established in 1998.

Utoy, Georgia was a small village located along Utoy Creek in present-day Fulton County, Georgia, USA. The vicinity, now part of metropolitan Atlanta, was the scene of the August 1864 Battle of Utoy Creek during the American Civil War and is today the site of Utoy Indian Village, a tourist center with renditions of historic Native-American structures and which offers a "Civil War Battlefield Tour."

Adamsville is a predominantly African-American neighborhood on the west side of city Atlanta, Georgia. It is located where Interstate 20 and Interstate 285 meet on the west side. The entertainers Killer Mike, Bone Crusher, A.K. Shay and Stevie-the-Steve-Man Corby came from Adamsville. The skating rink Cascade Skating Fun Center in the movie ATL is located in Adamsville. In the year 2000, the city of Atlanta parks and recreation department started construction on a new recreation center. It was finished in 2003 at the price of $13.1 million. The recreation center is known as the C.T. Martin Natatorium and Recreation Center. The 103,000-square-foot (9,600 m2) building features an indoor 50-meter pool and a gymnasium and is 10 times larger than the existing Adamsville Recreation Center. The new C.T. Martin Natatorium and Recreation Center was built on 9.42 acres (38,100 m2) of land. The recreation center also includes racquetball courts, offices, meeting space, a parking lot for 185 cars and a quarter-mile-long (400 m) walking trail circling the site.

Midwest Cascade is an Affluent predominantly African American neighborhood. neighborhood of Atlanta at the city's far west edge. Together with the tiny neighborhood of Regency Trace it forms NPU Q, the city's fastest growing NPU from 2000 to 2010.

Six Flags Hill is a hill located on Interstate 20 west of Atlanta, Georgia. It is about a mile west of the Six Flags Over Georgia theme park, and is a major reference point for Atlanta radio and television traffic reporters. Motorists travelling eastbound on I-20 typically get their first glimpse of downtown Atlanta when passing over Six Flags Hill. The entire hill is part of a unique geological formation called "the Buford Uprising." The size and location of the geological formation is unique and not in keeping the surrounding formations. Nearby, Sweetwater Creek State Park has the ruins of Antebellum textile factory which was built to harness the water energy associated with this uprising. The factory was destroyed by forces under the command of General William T. Sherman, US Army during the American Civil War.

The Cascade Mansion is the name of an antebellum home built in south west Atlanta, Georgia, south of the Sandtown (Now Cascade Road) built by Dr. William Poole and Elizabeth Gilbert Poole, son in law of the first physician Dr. William Gilbert in Fulton County, Georgia. The home was begun in construction in 1860 and was incorrectly identified by soldiers of the US XXIII Army Corps during the siege of Atlanta as the "Head House." The home served briefly as the Headquarters of Confederate Major General William B. Bate, attached to S.D Lee's Corps during the Battle of Utoy Creek, August 1–7, 1864. The home and grounds served as a US Army Hospital during the Siege of Atlanta for the XXIII and later XIV Corps in August 1864. The home is of the antebellum style on the former East Point Road (now Dodson Drive SW) in Atlanta. The interior was finished in the Victorian style in 1869–70. The property was purchased by Ms. Dixie Stevens proponent of Arts in Atlanta and the "Save the Fox Theater" and historical preservation in Atlanta.

Laurus Technical Institute was an American for-profit technical college with three locations in Georgia. Founded in 1986 as ETI Careers Institute, the school offered travel and tourism programs. It became accredited in 1991. In 2007, the school changed its name to Laurus Technical Institute and began offering programs in the allied health and allied trade programs. CEO Terry Hess closed the school without notice in March 2015.

Fulton County Airport (IATA: FTY, ICAO: KFTY, FAA LID: FTY), also known as Charlie Brown Field or Brown’s Field, is a county-owned, public-use airport in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. It is located six nautical miles (7 mi, 11 km) west of the central business district of Atlanta. The airport's name comes from the nickname of former Atlanta politician Charles M. Brown, who served on the city council and county commission during the 1960s. It is also called Charlie Brown Airport or Brown Field. On the radio, however, it is referred to as "County Tower" or "County Ground". As per Federal Aviation Administration records, the airport had 293 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2008, 198 enplanements in 2009, and 725 in 2010. It is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a reliever airport.It is a local Class D airport located just west of Atlanta and the nearest airport to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (which is just south of Atlanta), and handles much of the general aviation traffic that would otherwise go there. The airport exists below and in close proximity to ATL's Class B airspace. It is located very near Interstate 20, Interstate 285, and the Chattahoochee River, just outside the Atlanta city limits. It reports ASOS weather conditions 24 hours per day as West Atlanta. It also acted as the nearest backup weather station when Dobbins Air Reserve Base did not report overnight.

Ben Hill United Methodist Church is a United Methodist Church in the predominantly Black neighborhood of Ben Hill, Atlanta, in the US state of Georgia. It started in 1853 in a log cabin and was called "Wesley Chapel". The congregation moved to Ben Hill in 1926, and when in the 1960s that neighborhood become mostly Black, the church chose to accept that and integrate. By 1974 the church had become predominantly Black, with Cornelius Henderson as its first Black pastor, and the church grew--from 400 members in 1974 to 4,000 in 1986. Under his successor, Walter Kimbrough Sr., that membership increased to 6,000 by 1989, making Ben Hill UMC "reportedly the largest African American congregation of the United Methodist Church". Its "spiritual awakening and phenomenal numerical growth" are ascribed to its incorporation of "African traditions of call and response" and a neo-Pentecostal style.

Historic Collier Heights is a neighborhood in the northwest corner of Atlanta, Georgia. It is bordered to the west by Fairburn Road, the east by Hamilton E. Holmes Drive, the north by Donald L. Hollowell Parkway, and to the south by Interstate 20 bridge at Linkwood Road. It is one of the first communities in the nation built exclusively by African-American planners for the upcoming Atlanta African-American middle class and has been featured in several national publications such as Ebony and Jet magazines, as well as featured in the "Homefinder" section of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Since 2009, the community has been listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places. The community achieved local historic designation in June 2013.
