Abessinio Stadium (formerly Baynard Stadium and Baynard Field) is a state-of-the-art 20,000 sf athletic and cultural venue located off W. 18th Street along the westerly boundary of Brandywine Park in Wilmington, Delaware. Originally a gift from Samuel H. Baynard, then president of the Board of Park Commissioners, “Baynard Field” first opened on June 10, 1922, and contained two baseball fields and a running track in its original configuration.The stadium, while owned by the City of Wilmington, had been managed and maintained by the State of Delaware through the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control since 1998, at an approximate loss of $100,000.00 per year.The regular use of the stadium in the over forty years since its last significant renovation in 1972, began to take its toll on the historic and treasured community asset. Between May and July 2016, the bleachers on the south side of the stadium are condemned following a structural engineering assessment and then demolished.In October 2018, after an extensive public process, the Wilmington City Council approved a public/private partnership between the City of Wilmington and Salesianum School, whereby the City agreed to long-term lease with Salesianum School and Salesianum agreed to restore and renovate the stadium into a state-of-the-art athletic and cultural venue, including, among other things, an artificial turf field, a state-of-the-art 8-lane track, team locker rooms, a VIP Suite, a press/coaches box, a video scoreboard, concessions, lights, new bleachers, numerous restroom facilities, an on-site physical therapy suite open to the public, classrooms, state park offices, improved landscaping, and parking.In December 2018, Salesianum announced that Rocco and Mary Frances Abessinio had made a historic $16 million gift to Salesianum School to facilitate the renovations to Abessinio Stadium.The newly renovated Abessinio Stadium officially re-opened on November 13, 2020.

Brandywine Park was the first city park established by the city of Wilmington, Delaware. It is located on the banks of Brandywine Creek, between Augustine Road and North Market Street. The park was established in 1886, and was designed by Samuel Canby, the city's parks commissioner, in consultation with Frederick Law Olmsted. Although initially laid out as a bucolic park with winding paths and roadways, it has since expanded to include active recreation facilities.The park is approximately 178 acres and it spans both the north and south banks of the Brandywine. Much of the park has been preserved as a mix of wilderness and open space with walking trails and scenic views of the creek and surrounding woods. The open space section of the park includes two formal gardens, a rose garden and a cherry blossom garden. The Brandywine Zoo was created in 1905 and now occupies 4.75 acres of the park. Brandywine Park also includes active recreational facilities including playgrounds, athletic fields, and Baynard Stadium.The park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It is a unit of Delaware's Wilmington State Parks.

Brandywine Zoo is a small 4.7-acre (1.9 ha) zoo that opened in 1905 in Brandywine Park in Wilmington, Delaware, United States. It is located on the banks of the Brandywine River. The zoo is managed by the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation and supported by the Delaware Zoological Society. It is usually open daily, 10AM - 4PM, weather permitting.The Brandywine Zoo has been a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) since 1981.

The Baynard Boulevard Historic District is a national historic district located at Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. It encompasses 77 contributing buildings with examples of Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, and Queen Anne architecture. The area developed after being laid out in 1893, and is a prime example of a turn-of-the-20th-century American suburb, or "streetcar suburb." The dwellings date between 1895 and 1930. The district is predominantly residential. Also located in the district is the McCabe United Methodist Church, Beth Shalom Synagogue, Hanover Presbyterian Church, and No. 30 School.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Wilmington State Parks is a state park located in Wilmington, Delaware. Open year round, the park is approximately 345 acres (140 ha) of land mostly situated along the Brandywine Creek. The state park is made up of a group of smaller parks that are administratively managed as a single unit. Although much of the land comprising Wilmington State Parks is owned by the city of Wilmington, the park is operated and maintained by the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation, a branch of the state's Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. The state park was created in 1998 when the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation assumed management responsibilities, though the individual parks are much older, with the oldest dating back to 1886. There are numerous statues, monuments, and memorials in Wilmington State Parks, including war memorials as well as statues and memorials to historically significant Wilmingtonians such as Rear Admiral Samuel Francis Du Pont, U.S. Secretary of State Thomas F. Bayard, conservationist William Poole Bancroft, and shipbuilder William H. Todd. There is also a memorial to President William McKinley and a memorial bridge dedicated to George Washington near a parade ground where the general reviewed his troops during the Revolutionary War.Admission to the parks is free, with the exception of admittance to the zoo.

The African-American Medal of Honor Recipients Memorial is a monument dedicated to African-American recipients of the Medal of Honor since 1861.

Continental Army Encampment Site is a historic site located at Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. The Continental Army troops camped on the east side of Brandywine Creek, which is now a part of Brandywine Park. An early mill race is still visible, on the site, a reminder of the extensive early milling industry on the Brandywine. The Continental Army camped at the site for a few days before the Battle of Brandywine in August 1777. On December 21, 1777, 1,500 Delaware and Maryland troops under the command of General William Smallwood returned to the campsite. These troops were stationed to prevent occupation of Wilmington by the British and to protect the flour mills on the Brandywine.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Augustine Paper Mill, also known as the Container Corporation of America, Paper Mill Division (Old Wilmington Plant), was a historic paper mill complex located in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. The complex consisted of seven 19th century stone buildings including the original three-story mill building, also known as Building 7, and various later two-level mill structures and support buildings. As of 2022, Building 7 is the only surviving part of the complex. It is a three-story mill erected from randomly laid stone with walls three feet thick, a slate covered gable roof, and an arched brick opening for the mill race. The complex was acquired by the Container Corporation of America in 1942 (1942). In 1978, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The property was redeveloped into a gated condominium complex in 1985 (1985). The oldest mill structure, Building 7, was converted for residential use, while the other six buildings were replaced by new construction.

Wilmington Friends School is a private Pre-kindergarten-12 school in unincorporated New Castle County, Delaware, United States, near Wilmington. It is affiliated with the Society of Friends.

The Frank E. Schoonover Studios in Wilmington, Delaware comprise a historic building that was used by the students of illustrator Howard Pyle, including the original tenants Frank Schoonover, N.C. Wyeth, Harvey Dunn, and Clifford Ashley. Philanthropist and art collector Samuel Bancroft paid for the building which was designed by the prominent local architect Capt. E.L. Rice, Jr. and built in 1905 in a simplified Queen Anne or Shavian Manorial style. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.Schoonover remained in his studio, Number 1, until the end of his career, but the other original tenants moved out within ten years. Other artists moved in but Schoonover eventually became the sole owner of the property. After his death in 1972, a group of artists restored the building.In 2006 the Delaware History Museum held a special exhibition about the Studios.

Old First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington is a historic Presbyterian church located on West Street on Brandywine Park Drive in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. Built in 1740, the one-story brick structure measures 30 feet by 40 feet and has a gambrel roof. Originally located on the east side of Wilmington's Market Street between 9th and 10th Streets, the building was used during the American Revolution by British troops as a prison and hospital during the occupation of Wilmington after the Battle of Brandywine, September 12, 1777. It remained a house of worship until 1840. A cemetery on the site was the final resting place of many noted Wilmingtonians which were reinterred to Wilmington and Brandywine Cemetery.It was moved to its present site in 1916. In order to move it, it was dismantled and rebuilt with its re-dedication in 1918. It was given to the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Delaware to maintain and restore. They currently use it as their headquarters and have it open to the public on 2nd Sundays, April–October, 2-4pm. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America restored the interior to its original condition in 1981.

The Howard Pyle Studios are two historic buildings used for painting and teaching by illustrator Howard Pyle. The studios are located in a densely populated neighborhood near Brandywine Park and the Delaware Avenue Historic District. The building used by Pyle as his own studio was built in 1883, mainly in brick with a Tudor Revival half timbered gable. The smaller studio, that Pyle used for teaching, was built in a similar style in 1900. After Pyle's death in 1911, the buildings were owned by Stanley Arthurs, until 1950, and then by Ellen duPont Wheelwright until 1964. The Studio Group acquired the studios in 1964 and continue to use them as art studios. In 1978, the property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
