Cugand (French pronunciation: [kyɡɑ̃]) is a commune in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region in western France. It is part of the urban unit of Clisson.

It was part of the Brittany-Poitou Marches, and is located in the Nantes vineyard. It forms with three contiguous communes the urban unit of Clisson.

The Moine is a river in western France. It is a 68.8 km (42.8 mi) long right tributary of the Sèvre Nantaise. It flows into the Sèvre Nantaise in Clisson. The towns Cholet and Sèvremoine lie on the Moine.

Église Notre Dame is a Roman Catholic church in the town of Clisson, France. It was founded by Olivier V de Clisson in the 14th–15th century. The church was razed during the War in the Vendée, and later renovated under the Empire in the early 19th century. It was completely demolished and rebuilt in 1885–88 by Nantais architect René Ménard, modelled after Roman basilicas. It is a listed monument since 2006.

It is situated at the confluence of the rivers Sèvre Nantaise and Moine, 17 miles (27 km) southeast of Nantes.The town and the celebrated family of Clisson (the most famous members are Olivier IV de Clisson and Jeanne de Clisson) take their name from their stronghold. Clisson has its imposing ruins, parts of which date from the thirteenth century.The town and castle, the château de Clisson, were destroyed in 1792 and 1793 during the War in the Vendée.Afterwards, the sculptor François-Frédéric Lemot bought the castle, and the town was rebuilt in the early part of the 19th century according to his plans. There are picturesque parks on the banks of the rivers. The Moine is crossed by an old gothic bridge and by a fine modern viaduct.

Hellfest, also known as Hellfest Summer Open Air, is a rock festival focusing on heavy metal music, held annually in June in Clisson, France. Its high attendance makes it the French music festival with the largest turnover. It is also one of the biggest metal festivals in Europe and the first to exist in France. It originated in another music festival, the Fury Fest, held from 2002 to 2005, in different areas of Pays de la Loire. Hellfest took over in 2006 and over the years has seen a continuous rise in visitors, from 22,000 in the first edition, to 55,000 tickets sold per day in 2017. In 2022, the seven-day festival featured 350 bands and was attended by 60,000 people per day.Its programming is primarily focused on hard rock and metal on the two main stages, while each of the four other festival's stages are dedicated to a particular style like black metal, death metal, doom metal or stoner metal, making possible the presence of groups such as Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Motörhead, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, ZZ Top and KISS, as well as that of Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse or Anthrax.

The Château de la Preuille is an 11th-century castle at Saint-Hilaire-de-Loulay, Vendée, France, one of the oldest châteaux in the Loire Valley.It took its present form in the 13th and 15th centuries. The wide moat defending the northern aspect of the walls and towers indicates its origins as a stronghold. From 1350, the castle was owned successively by the families of Boux, Bastard (1460), Gastiniere (1541), Pâris (including Claude-René Pâris de Soulanges, comte de Soulanges) (1728), and through the late 18th century, the family of D’Nacquart or De Nacquard.In 1832, Marie-Caroline of Bourbon, Duchess of Berry, visited the château to launch her coup against King Louis-Philippe in order to crown her son Henri, comte de Chambord, the last legitimate Bourbon. The coup failed and Marie-Caroline was arrested.During the 20th century, the castle was abandoned and was left in a state of disrepair. It was saved and restored by the Fradin family in the 1970s and 1980s. Renovation was continued by the family Ribow between 2003 and 2019.

Clisson Sèvre et Maine Agglo is the communauté d'agglomération, an intercommunal structure, centred on the town of Clisson. It is located in the Loire-Atlantique department, in the Pays de la Loire region, western France. Created in 2017, its seat is in Clisson. Its area is 309.6 km2. Its population was 56,135 in 2019, of which 7,435 in Clisson proper.
