Bandar Baru Selayang is the capital of Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia. The capital moved from Rawang to Bandar Baru Selayang in 1997. The capital is named after Selayang, a town located 2 km southeast of Selayang Newtown. Bandar Baru Selayang is also a major residential area in Selayang with a number of neighbourhoods and apartment complexes.

The 1990 Kuala Lumpur–Karak Highway crash was a highway pile-up took place in Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia on 28 February 1990. About 17 people were killed when the passenger bus collided with a tanker lorry, FRU riot police vehicles, a lorry, two taxis and six cars at kilometre 30.9 of the Kuala Lumpur–Karak Highway about 5 km from Genting Sempah Tunnel at Selangor–Pahang border. 11 FRU riot police personal were killed too. Many vehicles to and from Kuala Lumpur were trapped in a massive jams for five hours. This was the worst highway disaster in Malaysia since Kuala Lumpur–Karak Highway was opened to traffic in 1979.

Lagong or Bukit Lagong is a small town and a forest reserve area in Selayang, Selangor, Malaysia, located between Kuang and Batu Caves. One of Guthrie Berhad's estates were located here, which were part of the "Guthrie Corridor".

Saint Mary's School (Malay: Sekolah Saint Mary) is a public all-girls school located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Each student in St. Mary's is also known as a St. Marian. It was previously situated in the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur, before being reshifted into the borders of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, beside the MRR2 highway. St. Mary's School used to be a school comprising kindergarten, primary and secondary education. Kindergarten was split in 1946, whereas the primary and secondary education section were separated in 1958.

Batu Caves Komuter station is a Malaysian commuter railway station formerly known as Batu Caves Railway station at Batu Caves, Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia. After redevelopment, the station was reopened in August 2010. The station was from 2010 the northern terminus for the KTM Komuter's Batu Caves–Port Klang Route until December 2015 when the Seremban Line routing was changed to terminate at this station instead of Rawang.

Lord Murugan Statue (Tamil: முருகன் சிலை; Bahasa Malaysia: Tugu Dewa Murugga), is the tallest statue of a Hindu deity in Malaysia and third tallest statue of a Hindu deity in the world, after Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue in Indonesia and Kailashnath Mahadev Statue in Nepal. It is also the tallest statue in Malaysia at 42.7 metres (140 ft) in height. The statue was built by Tamil Malaysians. It took three years to construct, and was unveiled in January 2006 during Thaipusam festival. The managing authority of the temple rests with the Tamil descendants. Inspired by this statue, 146 ft tall Puthiragoundampalayam Murugan Statue was sculpted in Salem district of Tamil Nadu in 2022.Every year, thousands of devotees from Tamil Nadu & Sri Lanka visit this temple to pay their tributes to the deity at the auspicious day of Thaipusam according to the Tamil Calendar. It is located at the Sri Murugan Perumal Kovil at the foot of Batu Caves.

Batu Caves (Tamil: பத்து மலை : Pathumalai) is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Malay word batu, meaning 'rock'. The hill was originally known as Kapal Tanggang from the legend of Si Tanggang. The town nearby is named after the Batu Caves limestone formation. The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of the Tamil festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia. Batu Caves in short also referred as 10th Caves or Hill for Lord Murugan as there are six important holy shrines in India and four more in Malaysia. The three others in Malaysia are Kallumalai Temple in Ipoh, Tanneermalai Temple in Penang and Sannasimalai Temple in Malacca.

Batu Dam (Malay: Empangan Batu) is a dam in Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia. The dam is a water supply dam with holding capacity of 30,199 ML. The Sungai Batu water treatment plant produces 114 ML per day of treated water.
