La Garde (French pronunciation: [la ɡaʁd]; Provençal Occitan: La Garda) is a seaside commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southeastern France. It is located in the Métropole Toulon Provence Méditerranée, east of the city of Toulon.

The Institut des Sciences de l'Ingénieur de Toulon et du Var (English: Institute of Engineering Sciences of Toulon and the Var), or ISITV, was a French public engineering school. It was located in the south of France, between Toulon and Hyères, on the French Riviera. In 2014, the school merged with Supméca to form a new engineering school called SeaTech. The School was established in 1991 by combining the teaching and research resources of the University of the South, Toulon-Var with support and collaboration from industry.

The Domaine d'Orvès is an arboretum and Provençal garden surrounding an 18th-century bastide located in the commune of La Valette du Var in the Var department of France. It is classified by the French Ministry of Culture as one of the Remarkable Gardens of France. It is privately owned but open to the public by reservation.

Carqueiranne (French pronunciation: [kaʁkeʁan], locally [kaʁkɛˈʁanə]; Occitan: Carcairana, [kaɾkajˈɾanɔ], or Carqueirana, [kaɾkejˈɾanɔ]) is a commune in the Var department, administrative region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (historically Provence), Southeastern France. It is known now as a tourist seaside resort with good windsurfing nearby, at Almanarre Beach.

The Diocese of Fréjus–Toulon (Latin: Dioecesis Foroiuliensis–Tolonensis; French: Diocèse de Fréjus–Toulon) is a Latin diocese of the Catholic Church in southeastern France on the Mediterranean coast. The present diocese comprises the territory of the ancient Diocese of Fréjus as well as that of the ancient Diocese of Toulon. In 1957 it was renamed as the Diocese of Fréjus–Toulon.Under the Civil Constitution of the Clergy the département of Var constituted a diocese, absorbing the former ancient dioceses of Toulon, Fréjus, Grasse and Vence. It was suppressed by the Concordat of 1801, re-established ineffectually by that of 1817, and definitively established in 1823, when its assigned territory comprised once more the whole département of Var. A Papal Brief of 1852 authorized the bishop to assume the title of Bishop of Fréjus and Toulon. It was and has remained a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Aix-en-Provence and Arles, The arrondissement of Grasse until 1860 belonged to the département of Var, when it was annexed to that of the Alpes-Maritimes. In 1886 it was separated from Fréjus and attached to the Diocese of Nice. Since 16 May 2000, the Bishop of Fréjus–Toulon has been Bishop Dominique Marie Jean Rey.

La Farlède (French pronunciation: [la faʁlɛd]; Occitan: La Farleta) is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France.

La Crau (French pronunciation: [la kʁo]; Occitan: La Crau d'Ieras) is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France.

The action of 5 November 1813 was a brief naval clash during the Napoleonic Wars, between part of the British Mediterranean Fleet led by Vice-Admiral Sir Edward Pellew, and a French force under Rear-Admiral Julien Cosmao-Kerjulien. The engagement took place outside the French port of Toulon. The clash occurred when a French fleet under Vice-Admiral Maxime Julien Émeriau de Beauverger took advantage of a favourable wind and the temporary absence of the British blockading force, to leave port to carry out exercises. Émeriau abandoned the exercises when the wind changed, but while returning to port his rear came under attack from the recently returned British inshore squadron. The British attack was reinforced by newly arrived ships from the main fleet, but the French were able to escape into Toulon after exchanging cannon fire with the British. Casualties on both sides were light.
