The Fensch (French pronunciation: ​[fɛnʃ]) or Fentsch is a river in the Moselle department of the Grand Est region of France. It is a left tributary of the Moselle, and thus a sub-tributary of the Rhine.

The siege of Thionville was a battle of the Franco-Prussian War which occurred in Thionville of the Moselle from November 13 to November 24, 1870. The small French garrison repulsed an attempted attack on August 14. It was subjected to a blockade and then besieged from November 13. After the capitulation of Metz, on October 28, 1870, the Prussians move part of their powerful artillery to Thionville. Bombed from November 22, the square surrendered on November 24. The capture of Thionville and that of Montmédy a month later gave the Germans control of the railroad to the Picardy front.

The siege of Thionville was a battle during the War of the First Coalition.

The Relief of Thionville took place on 7 June 1639, during the Thirty Years' War.

Yutz (French pronunciation: ​[jyts]; German: Jeutz; Lorraine Franconian/Luxembourgish: Jäiz [jæːɪts]) is a commune in the Moselle department in Grand Est in north-eastern France, close to the borders with both Luxembourg and Germany. It was created in 1971 by merging the former communes of Basse-Yutz and Haute-Yutz. Macquenom is also a part of the commune since 1810. The town is located by the river Moselle where it borders with the city of Thionville. The famous Basse Yutz Flagons, considered by many to be the apogee of Celtic art, were found in the area. They now form part of the British Museum's collection.The inhabitants are called Yussois.

The canton of Yutz is an administrative division of the Moselle department, northeastern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Yutz.It consists of the following communes:
