Market Rasen Racecourse is a National Hunt racecourse in the town of Market Rasen, in Lincolnshire, England. It is owned and operated by Jockey Club Racecourses.Racing initially began at Market Rasen in the early 1800s, however found its current home in 1924, its first race meeting coming in April of that year. The course is a right-handed oval with a circumference of around one-and-a-quarter miles. Although National Hunt racing is traditionally a winter sport, Market Rasen stages a year-round programme of racing.Its most high-profile fixture is the Summer Plate meeting, normally staged on the third Saturday in July. This features the two-and-a-quarter miles Summer Hurdle and the eponymous Summer Plate, a two-and-three-quarter miles chase, both of which are among the most valuable National Hunt races staged in Britain during the summer months.Former jockey AP McCoy is the leading jockey by statistics, winning 27% of races he entered at Market Rasen. In 2014, he rode his 4,192nd winner beating friend and former colleague Martin Pipe's overall wins record.

It lies 4 miles (6 km) south from the town of Market Rasen, and about 4 miles north from the town of Wragby. Lissington is listed in the 1086 Domesday Book as "Lessintone", with 28 households, and 80 acres (0.32 km2) of meadow and 80 of woodland. The church, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, is a Grade II listed building built from ironstone and greenstone. It dates from 1796, with a restoration in 1895 and further additions in 1925.Lissington Church of England School was built in 1854 as a National school and closed 21 December 1950.

Buslingthorpe is a hamlet and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is half a mile east of the A46 at Faldingworth and 3 miles (5 km) south-west from Market Rasen. The hamlet is approximately 3 square miles (7.8 km2) in area and comprises a moat, one farm, St Michael's Church (now disused but open to the public) and approximately 20 houses. A large manor house was constructed in approximately 2010 on the land of two demolished houses.A writer in Notes and Queries in 1932 noted that the Buslingthorpe (shared with Buslingthorpe, Leeds and Buckfastleigh, Devon) contains 13 different letters, exactly half the alphabet, with none repeated and no hyphenation: a heterogram, and wondered whether that was unique. In 2007 David Crystal noted that Bricklehampton surpasses this with 14 unique letters.

According to the British Geological Survey the earthquake registered a reading of 5.2 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre 2.5 miles (4 km) north of Market Rasen and 15 miles (24 km) south-west of Grimsby.

The parish includes the settlements of Bleasby, Bleasby Moor, Collow, and East Torrington.
