Location of a major World War II battery, as well as massive French fortifications (never completed) to protect the deep-water port of Cherbourg.

Urville-Nacqueville (French pronunciation: [yʁvil nakvil]) is a former commune in the Manche department in Normandy in north-western France. On 1 January 2017, it was merged into the new commune La Hague. It is an amalgam of two pre-existing villages, which were both heavily damaged by Allied bombardments during World War II (close to a radar station, Nacqueville was almost obliterated, and its church was dynamited by the German army in 1944). The village was originally about 1 km inland, with only a few fishing huts on the long beach. In the beginning of the 20th century, the coastal strip was developed as a resort, along with a 'Village Normande' (totally destroyed in World War II) for tourists next to the original hamlet. Suburban infill then gave the village of Urville-Nacqueville its current footprint.

Flottemanville-Hague (French pronunciation: [flɔtmɑ̃vil aɡ]) is a former commune in the Manche department in north-western France. On 1 January 2017, it was merged into the new commune La Hague.

The Canton of Beaumont-Hague in France is situated in the department of Manche and the region of Basse-Normandie. Its seat was the commune of Beaumont-Hague. It had 11,932 inhabitants (2012). It was disbanded following the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Cap de la Hague is a cape at the tip of the Cotentin peninsula in Normandy, France. The La Hague area has precambrian granite and gneiss cliffs, several coves and small fields surrounded by hedges. France's oldest rocks are to be found on its coast in Jobourg. Other rocky outcroppings on the coast include Cadomian granite in Auderville and Variscan granite in Flamanville.The La Hague cape consists of two promontories about half a mile apart. The cape itself, which has the lighthouse and a lifeboat station, is very low-lying. The dialect of the Norman language spoken by a minority in the region is called Haguais. The Norman poet Côtis-Capel was a native of the region and used the landscape as inspiration for his poetry. The painter Jean-François Millet was also a native of the region. The La Hague site, the largest light water reactor nuclear waste reprocessing plant on earth (over half of the world's capacity), is located in the region.
