Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃t lys syʁ lwaʁ] (listen), literally Sainte-Luce on Loire; Breton: Santez-Lusenn-ar-Liger) is a commune in the Loire-Atlantique department in western France. This commune is one of 24 communes that make up the intercommunality of Nantes Metropolis.

The naval Battle of La Rochelle 1419 took place between a Castilian and an allied Flemish-Hanseatic fleet. The Castillian victory resulted in their naval supremacy in the Bay of Biscay. but it also led to a protracted conflict with Flanders and the Hanseatic League, which ended in 1443 with further commercial concessions to Castile. The battle was notable for the use of guns by the Castilian fleet.

Saint-Julien-de-Concelles (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ ʒyljɛ̃ də kɔ̃sɛl] ; Breton: Sant-Juluan-Kankell) is a commune in the Loire-Atlantique department in western France.Saint-Julien-de-Concelles is the home of the popular beurre blanc sauce. The sauce was first prepared in a small restaurant on the banks of the river Loire. The town is also one of France's main growers of the mâche (lambs lettuce). Its flat and sandy land is suited to growing vegetables, such as leeks, and some flowers. Saint-Julien-de-Concelles also grows the grapes on its hills that produce local Muscadet wine. A large lake, known as the Plan d'Eau du Chêne, is located near to the center of Saint-Julien-de-Concelles. The lake supports sailing, fishing, various sports and attracts walkers and nature lovers.

Basse-Goulaine (French pronunciation: [bas ɡulɛn] (listen); Breton: Goueled-Goulen) is a commune in the Loire-Atlantique department in western France. The commune is part of historical Brittany located in the Pays nantais (historical country) and in the Vignoble nantais (traditional country).

Château de Bois-Briand is a château located in Nantes, France. In 2008, the estate was listed as a "Monument National" by French Minister of Culture. This label was attributed thanks to three main considerations: the inspiring history of some landlords, the permanence of a consensual social life and the translation of this harmony into various gardens, buildings and botanical creations. The original castle was named Bois-Briant, Bois-Brient and Bois-Brillant. These names referred to a wood enlightened by sun because it was (still is) facing South. The medieval castle became a "château" when it was sold by Charette family to Le Meneust des Treilles family, in 1699. The medieval defensive "castle" transformed itself into a "maison de plaisance" where pleasure was associated to economic productions (wine and dry fruits for sailors). Such "châteaux", designed for pleasure were named "Folies" in "Pays de Nantes". In other parts of France, the term "Folies" was used mainly to designate monumental ornements in 18th century parks: false ruins (pyramids, obelisks), grottos, love-temples, friendship-temples and "laiteries". The street that led to the castle was named Avenue de Bois-Briant. Since its acquisition by the city of Nantes, Avenue du Bois-Briant became « rue du Bois-Briand ».

Carquefou (French pronunciation: [kaʁkəfu] ; Gallo: Carqefou, Breton: Kerc'hfaou) is a commune in the Loire-Atlantique, department in the region Pays de la Loire, in western France.

The canton of Carquefou is an administrative division of the Loire-Atlantique department, western France. Its borders were not modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Carquefou.It consists of the following communes: Carquefou Mauves-sur-Loire Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire Thouaré-sur-Loire

Haute-Goulaine (French pronunciation: [ot ɡulɛn] (listen); Breton: Gorre-Goulen) is a commune in the Loire-Atlantique department in western France. The commune is located near Nantes. Historically, the commune was part of Brittany. The chateau de Goulaine is one of the tourist sites that can be visited in the commune. Henri IV of France (king from 1589 to 1610) made the seigneury of Goulaine a marquisate in favour of Gabriel de Goulaine, husband of Marguerite de Bretagne. On 22 October 1941, six of the 16 hostages shot in Nantes following the attack on Karl Hotz were buried in the Haute-Goulaine cemetery.

École supérieure du bois (ESB) a French engineering College created in 1934. The education provided concerns wood trades and techniques, but also human sciences, management, law, business policy and foreign languages. Located in Nantes since 1993, the ESB is a private higher education institution of general interest recognised by the State. The school is a member of the Union of Independent Grandes Écoles (UGEI).

The Château de Goulaine is a historic château located in the Loire Valley wine region near Nantes, France. The property has been home to the family of the marquis de Goulaine for over a thousand years. The Goulaine name is also used for estate-bottled wine that is produced at the property.

L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is a private institution for technical education dedicated to the teaching of design. Founded in 1988, it has been managed by the Nantes-Saint Nazaire Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 1991. The school is recognized by the State and is one of the two schools in its field to award a design degree which is certified by the French Ministry of Higher Education. . This degree is also registered in the Registre National des Certifications Professionnelles (the French directory for vocational qualifications) as a Level I Master's degree. L’École de design is a member of the Conférence des grandes écoles (top-tier French higher education institutions) and is also associated to the Université de Nantes. It is located in Nantes on the technological campus Atlanpole la Chantrerie and on the Ile de Nantes, as well as in Shanghai (China), Pune (India), São Paulo (Brazil) and Montréal (Canada). The school has been run since 1998 by Christian Guellerin, Managing Director.
