Etobicoke—Lakeshore

Etobicoke—Lakeshore is a provincial electoral district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It was created in 1987 from Lakeshore. From 1987 to 1999 the district included all of Etobicoke south of a line following the CP Railway to Kipling Avenue to Bloor Street. In 1999 the border was moved up to a line following Dundas Street to the 427 to Burnhamthorpe Road to Kipling Avenue to Mimico Creek to the Canadian Pacific Railway to Dundas Street. In 2007, the borders were not altered.

Alderwood is a neighbourhood in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is in the western section of Toronto, within the district of Etobicoke. It is bounded by the Etobicoke Creek to the west, the Gardiner Expressway to the north, the CPR railway to the east and the CNR railway to the south. Alderwood is named after Etobicoke, the municipality of which it originally was a part, which is a native word meaning "place where the alder trees grow."

Alderwood Collegiate Institute (Alderwood CI, ACI, or Alderwood), named Alderwood Secondary School and Alderwood High School prior is a former public high school that existed from 1955 to 1983 under the governance of the Etobicoke Board of Education (now part of the Toronto District School Board) and that served the Alderwood neighbourhood in the former city of Etobicoke in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The school merged with New Toronto Secondary School to form Lakeshore Collegiate Institute in 1983. The portion of the Alderwood property was transferred to the TDSB's realtor arm, Toronto Lands Corporation (TLC) in 2011 and sold to Urbancorp, a housing developer in August 2012.

Long Branch Racetrack was a horse-racing facility in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. It was situated in Etobicoke, then a township, just north of the village of Long Branch and just west of the city of Toronto. It operated from 1924 until 1955 at a location west of Kipling Avenue, north of Horner Avenue and south of Evans Avenue. The track is the originator of two stakes races that are still run today - the Canadian International Stakes and the Cup and Saucer Stakes. The track opened in September 1924. It was owned by Abe Orpen and his family which also owned the Dufferin Park Racetrack in Toronto. The track was 1 mile (1.6 km) in length.

Vincent Massey Junior School (Vincent Massey JS, VMJS or Massey), formerly Daisy Avenue Public School is located at 68 Daisy Avenue in the Long Branch area of Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. This school has kindergarten through grade five. The property was owned by the Toronto District School Board and was sold to a developer in 2017.

Sherway Gardens (corporately known as CF Sherway Gardens) is a large retail shopping mall in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The mall is located 17 kilometres (11 mi) west of Downtown Toronto in the former city of Etobicoke, near the interchange of Highway 427 with the Queen Elizabeth Way and Gardiner Expressway. Opened in 1971, the mall originally covered 850,000 square feet (79,000 m2) in an S-shaped configuration and contained 127 stores. It was expanded in 1975, 1987, 1989, 2015, and 2017 to its current size of 1,182,000 square feet (109,800 m2) and 215 stores. It is the eighth largest mall in the Greater Toronto Area, and is the 18th largest mall in Canada. As the mall has grown, it has changed its mix of stores from a general mix of stores to add more fashion-conscious and luxury brand stores.

Long Branch Loop is the westernmost stop on the longest Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) streetcar route, the 501 Queen line. It is located in the Long Branch neighbourhood in southwestern Toronto, close to the boundary with Mississauga. Westbound streetcars enter the turning loop from Lake Shore Boulevard and turn counter clockwise to face east on the north side of the platform. Bus bays are on the opposite south side of the platform with a shelter building in the centre, which once provided washrooms and a waiting room for the public.

Long Branch is a GO Transit railway station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is one of the Lakeshore West line stations, serving the Long Branch neighbourhood. Being one of the original GO Stations built in 1967, it is now scheduled for modernization. The plans would make the station accessible with new elevators, connecting tunnels, washrooms and canopies over the platforms. It is expected to be 2016 before these upgrades are complete. It is also anticipated that more condominium development in the area will increase the population density of the neighbourhood and attract more riders.

James S. Bell Junior Middle and Wellness Academy is a public elementary school in the Etobicoke district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. James S. Bell is part of the Toronto District School Board and serves the west end neighbourhood of Long Branch.

Long Branch is a neighbourhood and former municipality in the south-west of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the south-western corner of the former Township (and later, City) of Etobicoke on the shore of Lake Ontario. The Village of Long Branch was a partially independent municipality from 1930 to 1967. Long Branch is located within a land grant from the government to Colonel Samuel Smith in the late 18th century. After Smith's death, a small portion of it was developed as a summer resort in the late 1800s.

Honeydale Mall was a community shopping mall located in Eatonville (part of the former Borough of Etobicoke), Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at the intersection of Dundas Street and The East Mall Crescent (the latter being a link connecting the grade-separated roads, The East Mall and Dundas Street). It opened in 1973 with a supermarket anchor, a Woolco department store, and a short enclosed mall. In 1994, Wal-Mart took over the Woolco location and remained in the mall until 2001. The mall declined after Walmart's departure, and was described as being on "death row". In February 2006, The Bay Furniture Outlet opened inside the mall, and just after that a flea market. But within the next 3-6 years, both stores were closed because of low traffic. After The Bay Furniture Outlet closed, a clearance warehouse would lease the vacant Wal-Mart space annually, but stopped after 2012. In May 2009, it had two anchor stores (a No Frills supermarket and a flea market), a restaurant and dental office. The mall's No Frills supermarket closed in June 2013, and the entire mall was shuttered and locked up later that year, ending its 40 years of operation. A portion of the parking lot beyond Paulart Drive and next to the old Walmart site is being used to store empty trailer units. Azuria Group, the owner of Honeydale, allowed the property to decline and it attempted to pursue high density residential redevelopment options which may include land for a new subway station. However, the application has stalled as the city of Toronto has required Azuria to do studies on the project.

The Lakeshore Lions Arena (Lakeshore Lions Memorial Centre) is a former ice hockey facility in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was operated in the Long Branch neighbourhood of Etobicoke by the Lakeshore Lions Club. It is the former practice facility for the Toronto Maple Leafs NHL hockey team, and the Toronto Marlies AHL farm team. The old arena was a two-storey rink built in 1951 at 300 Birmingham Street. In 2010, it was repurposed as the Humber College Arts and Media Studio. The Lions opened a new facility, called the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence, to replace the old arena in fall 2009, located northeast of the original rink, at 400 Kipling Avenue. The club spent three years on negotiations, and CA$250,000 on planning.Brian Hoskins, vice-chairman of the arena board told the Humber EtCetera, "This is a sports facility operated by a not-for-profit service club. All the profits go back to the community. We have to have professional tenants to make it work. Our primary time is occupied here by youth hockey. The Leafs are here from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. when we don't have a lot of use of it. That is why it is such a good marriage for us."
