Hahndorf, South Australia

Hahndorf Hill Winery, also known as HHW, is a boutique vineyard situated adjacent to the historic, German-heritage village of Hahndorf, South Australia, in the Adelaide Hills wine region. Owners Larry Jacobs and Marc Dobson acquired the Hahndorf Hill property in 2002 and subsequently made considerable changes to the vineyard plantings, including the promotion and development of Austrian grape varieties such as Grüner Veltliner, Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt. A fourth Austrian variety, St. Laurent, was planted at the Hahndorf Hill vineyard in 2015.After importing three different clones of Grüner Veltliner from Austria into Australia in 2006, and a further three clones/clonal selections in 2009, Hahndorf Hill Winery became the first producer of Grüner Veltliner in South Australia in 2010. It is currently Australia's only producer of Blaufränkisch. The winery has produced a Zweigelt rosé since 2012. Other grape varieties grown at Hahndorf Hill include Trollinger, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz.

Paechtown is a historic locality in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. It is now on the southern side of the South Eastern Freeway almost opposite Hahndorf. Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Paech had bought thirteen 80-acre sections, named Friedrichstadt, with the name particularly applied to a subdivision of section 3913, Hundred of Kuitpo. The name Friedrichstadt was replaced by Tangari in 1918 as part of renaming many places with German-origin names, however neither name is used today. Paechtown is named for another early landowner, Christian Paech (unrelated to Johann Friedrich). The village was established in subdivisions of sections 3916 and 3917, Hundred of Kuitpo.There are a number of historic German-style half-timbered houses in the village. There had been quite a few more until they were destroyed by the Ash Wednesday bushfires in 1983. J.F. Paech's 1840s farmhouse and outbuildings have survived.

Ambleside railway station was located about 43.5 kilometres from Adelaide station, on the Adelaide-Wolseley line, in the Adelaide Hills suburb of Balhannah, at an elevation of 318 metres.

Cox Creek, also Cox's Creek, previously Cock's Creek, is a small stream in the southern Adelaide Hills. Cox's Creek was also the name of the settlement which became Bridgewater, South Australia.

Totness consists mainly of industrial zoned areas. It is commonly referred to as Mount Barker or Littlehampton but is actually a town of its own. There is no street sign indicating you are entering Totness. Its windmill is the oldest surviving building in the Hahndorf - Mt Barker area. It is about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from Mount Barker, and 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) from Littlehampton, but the towns have merged due to growth. It is also home to the Totness Recreation Park. Totness was first subdivided in the 1880s, without regard to its contours. Part of the movie 'Ned Kelly', starring Mick Jagger, was filmed on Totness Rd.

Verdun is a small town in the Adelaide Hills, Australia, on the road from Hahndorf to Balhannah. At the 2011 Australian Census the town recorded a population of 662.Verdun is approximately 4 km from Hahndorf and 5 km from Bridgewater. There is one school, one pub and a licensed café/restaurant situated in the building previously occupied by a service station and general store. Verdun originally had the German name Grunthal, after being named by the Prussian settlers who established the town. The town was renamed in 1917 after one of the bloodiest battles of the First World War, the Battle of Verdun. The Hills Christian Community School opened in February 1983 at the site of the former Verdun Primary School.

Totness Recreation Park (formerly Totness National Parks Reserve) is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located within the localities of Mount Barker and Totness in the central Mount Lofty Ranges. Covering 41 hectares (101 acres) of land, the park is divided by the South Eastern Freeway and features a large dam. It was declared as a reserve in 1970 and re-designated as a recreation park in 1972. The park has no visitor facilities except for access tracks. It is the only park in the district, managed by the Department of Environment and Water, that is solely designated for recreation. While parts of the park are dominated by pest plant species, primarily gorse and blackberry, it has native plant communities that are of conservation significance. messmate stringybark and manna gum woodlands are of particular note, being now uncommon in much of their former range across the Mount Lofty Ranges.

Mylor Conservation Park is a protected area located in the Australian state of South Australia in the suburb of Mylor in the Adelaide Hills state government region about 19 kilometres (12 mi) south-east of the state capital of Adelaide and about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) north-east of the town of Mylor.The conservation park consists of land in Allotment 51 of Deposited Plan 46510 and Section 3322 in the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Noarlunga. It is located within land east of Strathalbyn Road and west of the watercourse of the Onkaparinga River, and is accessed via Whitehead Road. Part of the land was previously used as a recreational facility called the Mylor Recreation Centre.The Heysen Trail, the long distance walking trail, passes through the conservation park entering from the west via Whitehead Road and exiting in the north onto Hooper Road.The conservation park came into existence on 27 February 1997 by proclamation under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972 which also ensured the continuation of “existing rights of entry, prospecting, exploration or mining” provided by the Mining Act 1971. As of 2016, it covered an area of 45 hectares (110 acres).Vegetation in the southern part of the conservation park was surveyed in 2000 and subsequently described as consisting of an open forest of Eucalyptus baxteri and Eucalyptus obliqua over an understorey of Lepidosperma semiteres, Hakea carinata, Platylobium obtusangulum, Hakea rostrate, and Daviesia leptophylla.The conservation park is classified as an IUCN Category III protected area.

Balhannah railway station is a disused railway station on the Adelaide-Wolseley line. The station is in the Adelaide Hills town of Balhannah, and is located 45.8 kilometres from Adelaide station at an elevation of 339 metres.

Bridgewater is a town in the Australian state of South Australia located in the Adelaide Hills to the south-east of the Adelaide city centre. It is the former end of the Adelaide-Bridgewater railway line; this route was closed in 1987. The railway was converted to standard gauge in 1995 and continues to be the main line from Adelaide to Melbourne, but no trains stop at the now demolished Bridgewater railway station. A portion of the Heysen walking trail runs through the town, as well as the Pioneer women's walking trail.

Littlehampton is a village in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia, located on the Old Princes Highway. It is approximately 35 minutes from the Adelaide CBD via the South Eastern Freeway. At the time of the 2016 Australian census, Littlehampton had a population of 3,522.Littlehampton was laid out in 1849 by Benjamin Gray, who named it after his native town in Sussex. By 1890, the village had become a busy industrial centre with a sawmill, brewery and various manufacturers producing jams, sauces, bacon, wattle extract. There were five brick works. Littlehampton Bricks, which continues to operate today, was established in 1913, developing from another brickyard–Coppins–on the opposite side of the main road into Littlehampton. The 1862 church on Main Street—North Tce and now Princes Hwy—was one of the oldest active Churches in South Australia until 2020. This United Church ceased services due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Balhannah is a town in the Adelaide Hills about 30 km southeast of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. It was established in 1839 as a farming community by James Turnbull Thomson, who built the first hotel. The town soon grew to incorporate two once adjoining towns: Gilleston (named for Osmond Gilles) and Blythetown, named for James Blythe, another Scottish settler.It is on the main interstate railway between Adelaide and Melbourne. In the past it was the junction for a branch line that ran up the Onkaparinga Valley and beyond to Birdwood and Mount Pleasant.Much of Balhannah is along Onkaparinga Valley Road, although there are some other residential streets, and Greenhill Road terminates near the town centre. One of the larger businesses in the town is a long-established hardware store, now part of the Mitre 10 chain. The fruit cold store built in 1914 was one of the first in Australia and is still in use.
