Eagle, Lincolnshire

Eagle Barnsdale is a village in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population can be found included in the civil parish of Eagle and Swinethorpe. It is situated approximately 7 miles (11 km) south-east from the city and county town of Lincoln. The village of Eagle is to the north, with Morton Hall to the south.

Tunman Wood is a local nature reserve with an area of over 53 ha (130 acres) located near Eagle Barnsdale, Lincolnshire. It is an area of ancient woodland and has existed since at least 1774. It was used by the Forestry Commission from the 1940s until it was purchased by Lincolnshire County Council, North Kesteven District Council and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust from Lafarge Aggregates in February 2009.

Morton Hall is served by Swinderby railway station, just outside the village to the west. The separate hamlet of Morton is 0.5 miles (0.8 km) to the south-east. HM Prison Morton Hall is in the village. It was originally the site of an RAF base, which was converted into a prison in 1985. The facility was converted into an immigration removal centre in 2011.

Swinderby lies within a rural agricultural community and covers an area of 2,200 acres (9 km2). Village population is 773, reducing to 648 (including Morton Hall) at the 2011 census.

Whisby is a hamlet in the civil parish of Doddington and Whisby, in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated 5 miles (8.0 km) south-west from Lincoln city centre, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south from Doddington, and 2 miles (3.2 km) north from the A46 road. The name 'Whisby' means 'farm/settlement of Hvit'.Between Whisby and Thorpe on the Hill, 3 miles (5 km) to the south, is Whisby Moor, which includes a nature park run by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust. Whisby also has a garden centre. In 2011 the A46 road underwent reconstruction just outside Whisby. This included the building of a roundabout on the road which leads into the village.The Nottingham–Lincoln line passes 0.5 miles (0.8 km) to the south of the village on Station Road, at a level crossing next to the Railway Inn.
