Somerford Booths

Somerford Booths Hall is a grade II* listed country house in the parish of Somerford Booths, Cheshire, England, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) northwest of Congleton on the bank of the River Dane.

The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. The authors of the Buildings of England series comment that it is "an attractive building, and one for which money must have been spent generously".

According to the 2001 census, the population of the civil parish was 140, increasing slightly to 148 at the 2011 Census

Somerford is a civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It is adjacent to the north west of Congleton, from which town it has some housing overflow. According to the 2001 census, the population of the civil parish was 343, increasing to 430 at the 2011 Census.Somerford Park was the site of a Georgian country house demolished in 1926. The park has now been restored to farming and an equestrian centre. All Saints Chapel was built in 1720 as a chapel to Somerford Hall. It still stands and is listed at grade II*.

Clonterbrook House is a former manor house in the parish of Swettenham, Cheshire, England. It was built in 1697 for Jeffery and Katherine Lockett. It passed from the Lockett family in 1769, but was bought by Derek and Elizabeth Lockett in 1939. They restored the house in 1949. The house is constructed in brick, and it has a stone-slate roof. There are two storeys plus an attic, and it is in five bays. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. Around the house are three former farm buildings that have been converted into other uses; they are all listed at Grade II. The former shippon, which was damaged in an air raid in 1941, has been rebuilt as a music room. A former bakehouse is now an office, and a barn has been developed into a picture gallery. Clonter Opera Theatre has been built adjacent to these buildings.

The chapel is in the Anglican benefice of Astbury and Smallwood in the deanery of Congleton, the archdeaconry of Macclesfield and the diocese of Chester.

Medhurst Green is a hamlet in Cheshire, England that forms part of the civil parish of Brereton. It consists mainly of two farms, Upper and Lower Medhurst Green Farm, which were also known as Meadowsgreen Farm and Lower Meadowsgreen Farm. The former is located on the A534 road about 5 kilometres (3 mi) west of Congleton where a minor road towards the latter branches off in a northerly direction. The hamlet is served by a bus stop near Upper Medhurst Green Farm.

Somerford Park is situated off the A54 road midway between Congleton and Holmes Chapel in Cheshire. Somerfield Hall was a Georgian brick-built country house which used to stand in the park as the seat of the Shakerley Baronets family, but was demolished in 1926. The original house was built around 1720 for Peter Shakerley. The Shakerleys had owned land in the area since the reign of Henry III. Several generations of the Shakerley family had previously lived at Hulme Hall near Northwich since the mid-15th century before the family moved to Somerford. The house was then extended in the 18th century by architect Thomas Farnolls Pritchard and enlarged again around 1800 by Lawrence Robinson of Middleton, Lancashire by the addition of a large rectangular wing at right angles to the existing 9-bay house. The new front faced the park and boasted a central domed bow. The house was then altered by Anthony Salvin for Sir Charles Watkin Shakerley in 1859-60 with the addition of an Italianate porch. The parkland was laid out in the 19th century by John Webb. The house was demolished in 1926 and much of the parkland turned into farmland, although the chapel, icehouse and 18th-century stables survive, but in a ruinous condition. All Saints Chapel is listed Grade II*. An equestrian centre was established on part of the estate in 1976.
