The Rankin County School District is the 3rd largest public school district in Mississippi. The district office is located in Brandon, Mississippi (USA). In addition to Brandon, the district serves most of Rankin County, including the communities of Florence, Flowood, Pelahatchie, Puckett, Richland, Sandhill, and Star.

Brandon is a city in and the county seat of Rankin County, Mississippi, United States. It was incorporated on December 19, 1831. The population was 25,138 as of the 2020 census. A suburb of Jackson, Brandon is part of the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area, and is located east of the state capital.

Brandon Cemetery (commonly referred to as Old Brandon Cemetery) is located in Brandon, Mississippi, northeast of the Downtown Brandon Historic District. It is an 8.8 acre cemetery originally platted in 1831. The cemetery contains over 1,000 marked graves, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The Pearl Street Historic District is an historic district located in Brandon, Rankin County, Mississippi. The district is listed in the National Register of Historic Places listings in Rankin County, Mississippi. During the American Civil War, General William Sherman ordered Union troops to burn the city. Most of Brandon was destroyed in the fires but a few homes of the era survived. Some of these homes are located in the Pearl Historic District, next to the Old Brandon Cemetery. Two of the three homes within the historic district were built between 1850 and 1860, while the third was built circa 1920.

The Stevens-Buchanan House is a historic mansion in Brandon, Mississippi, U.S.. It was built in 1868 for James Richardson Stevens and his wife, Martha L. Patton. It was designed in the Greek Revival and Italianate architectural styles. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 5, 1978.

The Downtown Brandon Historic District is a ten-acre district consisting of the downtown square of Brandon, Mississippi, United States, mainly located along a section of East and West Government Street. The district also includes the 100th block of North College Street, where St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the Purvis House are located; as well as the 100th block of Black Street, where a historic African American Theater is located. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. The district includes two other places listed on the NRHP: the Rankin County Confederate Monument and the Rankin County Courthouse.

The Rankin County Confederate Monument is a war memorial located on the downtown square of Brandon, Mississippi, at the intersection of Government and North streets. The monument was erected in 1907 by the Brandon Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The monument was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 1, 1997.

Greenfield (also Green) is an unincorporated community in Rankin County, Mississippi, United States.The settlement is named for S. Green, an early settler. Greenfield had a post office from 1891 to 1935.An early railway line, owned by the Jackson & Brandon Railroad & Bridge Company, was built through Greenfield in the 1830s. The line is currently owned by the Kansas City Southern Railway.

Brandon High School is a suburban public high school located in Brandon, Mississippi, United States. BHS serves grades 9 through 12 and is part of the Rankin County School District, serving students in the Brandon zone.

The Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF) is a Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) prison for men and women located in an unincorporated area in Rankin County, Mississippi, United States, between the cities of Pearl and Brandon. The 171-acre (69 ha) prison was, for a period of time, the only state prison to hold female prisoners in Mississippi, in addition to minimum and medium security male offenders. It operates as the female death row of the state.The prison is in proximity to the state capital of Jackson.The prison houses the Receiving and Classification Unit (R&C), where most prisoners entering the MDOC system are held before going to their permanent unit assignments. Most male inmates who are sentenced to MDOC by the courts or who are returned to MDOC as parole violators, probation violators, intensive supervision program (ISP) violators, earned release supervision (ERS) violators, and suspension violators are placed at R&C. All women inmates who are sentenced to MDOC by the courts or who are returned to MDOC as parole violators, probation violators, ISP violators, ERS violators, and suspension violators are placed in 1A or 2B at CMCF. Male death row inmates do not go to CMCF; they are transferred from county jails and immediately go to the Mississippi State Penitentiary, the location of the male death row.MDOC states that CMCF was "designed to provide aesthetics along with security."
