Claremont College (Tasmania)

Claremont High School was a government co-educational comprehensive secondary school located in Claremont, a northern suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Established in 1961 on the site of Windemere House, the school catered for students from Years 7 to 10 and was the main high school for the Claremont area. In 2011 Claremont High School merged with Rosetta High School to from Montrose Bay High School.

Claremont is a rural / residential locality in the local government areas (LGA) of Glenorchy (75%) and Derwent Valley (25%) in the Hobart and South-east LGA regions of Tasmania. The locality is about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) north of the town of Glenorchy. The 2021 census recorded a population of 8,397 for the state suburb of Claremont.

The suburb is situated between the suburbs of Chigwell and Rosetta. There are no educational institutions within Berriedale, however there are primary schools in both neighbouring suburbs and a high school in Rosetta. The suburb is split in two (northeast/southwest) by the Brooker Highway; it is, therefore, not uncommon to hear the terms East Berriedale and West Berriedale, with the former half following the edge of the Derwent River and the latter extending into the rural Derwent Valley Region.

The 2016 census recorded a population of 2002 for the state suburb of Chigwell.It is a suburb in the 'northern suburbs' area of Hobart. The suburb is situated between the suburbs of Berriedale, Claremont and Glenlusk. The suburb shares its border with Berriedale along the Brooker Highway and the streets north of Berriedale Rd. Until the late 1990s, the suburb boundary was closer to the main road. The suburb shares with adjacent suburbs a range of older houses and properties.The area was originally made up of public housing, however much of the public housing stock has now been sold to private owners. The suburb is considered as a middle class socio-economic area, typical of many of the suburbs within Glenorchy City Council. Chigwell primary school had its name changed to the Mt Faulkner primary school.It is the location of the Metro Claremont home ground.

Cadbury's Claremont is currently owned by the multinational conglomerate Mondelēz International, which purchased Cadbury in 2010.

St Virgil's College is an independent Catholic primary and secondary day school for boys, located over two campuses in Austins Ferry and Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) is an art museum located within the Moorilla winery on the Berriedale peninsula in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It is the largest privately funded museum in the Southern Hemisphere. MONA houses ancient, modern and contemporary art from the David Walsh collection. Noted for its central themes of sex and death, the museum has been described by Walsh as a "subversive adult Disneyland".MONA was officially opened on 21 January 2011. Along with its frequently updated indoor collection, Mona also hosts the annual Mona Foma and Dark Mofo music and arts festivals which showcase large-scale public art and live performances.

The locality is about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) south of the town of Brighton. The 2016 census recorded a population of 3779 for the state suburb of Old Beach.It is approximately 7 km from the Baskerville Raceway. Old Beach is surrounded by an abundance of green mountainous terrain. At the heart of Old Beach is an old mining quarry, active in the late 1980s for the mining of sandstone, and providing and economic boost for the area.

The locality is about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) north-west of the town of Glenorchy. The 2016 census recorded a population of 2731 for the state suburb of Rosetta. It is a suburb of Hobart. The suburb is situated between the suburbs of Berriedale and Montrose and is approximately 15 minutes drive from Hobart. There is a primary school and a high school in Rosetta. The Brooker Highway runs along the eastern border of the suburb, next to the Derwent River.

Montrose Bay High School is a government co-educational comprehensive secondary school with campuses located in Rosetta and Goodwood, northern suburbs of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Established in 2010, the school caters for approximately 700 students from Years 7 to 10. The school is administered by the Tasmanian Department of Education.In 2019 student enrolments were 625. The school principal is Pieta Langham-McKay. Montrose Bay High was formed in 2010 through a merger of Rosetta High School and Claremont High School.
