Claremont College is a government comprehensive senior secondary school located in Claremont in the northern suburbs of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Established in 1990, the college caters for approximately 500 students in Years 11, 12 and optional Year 13 and is administered by the Tasmanian Department of Education. The college provides a full range of courses, preparing students for university, TAFE, traineeships and employment with courses delivered both on- and off-campus. The college overlooks the Derwent River, and is located approximately 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from the Hobart central business district. The college facilities include a drama auditorium, sport and recreation centre, library, various computer laboratories, canteen, and many sporting fields.

The locality is about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) north-west of the town of Glenorchy. The 2016 census recorded a population of 2002 for the state suburb of Chigwell.It is a suburb in the 'northern suburbs' area of Hobart. The suburb is situated between the suburbs of Berriedale, Claremont and Glenlusk. The suburb shares its border with Berriedale along the Brooker Highway and the streets north of Berriedale Rd. Until the late 1990s, the suburb boundary was closer to the main road. The suburb shares with adjacent suburbs a range of older houses and properties.The area was originally made up of public housing, however much of the public housing stock has now been sold to private owners. The suburb is considered as a middle class socio-economic area, typical of many of the suburbs within Glenorchy City Council. Chigwell primary school had its name changed to the Mt Faulkner primary school.It is the location of the Metro Claremont home ground.

Claremont High School was a government co-educational comprehensive secondary school located in Claremont, a northern suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Established in 1961 on the site of Windemere House, the school catered for students from Years 7 to 10 and was the main high school for the Claremont area. In 2011 Claremont High School merged with Rosetta High School to from Montrose Bay High School.

Berriedale is a suburb in the northern suburbs of Hobart, capital of Tasmania, Australia. It is in the local government area of City of Glenorchy. The suburb is situated between the suburbs of Chigwell and Rosetta. There are no educational institutions within Berriedale, however there are primary schools in both neighbouring suburbs and a high school in Rosetta. The suburb is split in two (northeast/southwest) by the Brooker Highway; it is, therefore, not uncommon to hear the terms East Berriedale and West Berriedale, with the former half following the edge of the Derwent River and the latter extending into the rural Derwent Valley Region.

The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) is an art museum located within the Moorilla winery on the Berriedale peninsula in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It is the largest privately funded museum in the Southern Hemisphere. MONA houses ancient, modern and contemporary art from the David Walsh collection. Noted for its central themes of sex and death, the museum has been described by Walsh as a "subversive adult Disneyland".MONA was officially opened on 21 January 2011. Along with its frequently updated indoor collection, Mona also hosts the annual Mona Foma and Dark Mofo music and arts festivals which showcase large-scale public art and live performances.

The locality is about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) north of the town of Glenorchy. The 2016 census recorded a population of 1736 for the state suburb of Granton. It is a suburb of Hobart. Rust Road is the approximate boundary between the two municipalities at Granton. Public facilities including the Granton War Memorial Hall, public toilets and Granton Green Reserve are located within the Derwent Valley Council section.

The locality is about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) south of the town of Brighton. The 2016 census recorded a population of 3779 for the state suburb of Old Beach.It is approximately 7 km from the Baskerville Raceway. Old Beach is surrounded by an abundance of green mountainous terrain. At the heart of Old Beach is an old mining quarry, active in the late 1980s for the mining of sandstone, and providing and economic boost for the area.
