Altgeld Gardens Homes is a Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) public housing project located on the far south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. It sits on the border of Chicago and Riverdale, Illinois. The residents are 97% African-American according to the 2000 United States Census. Built between 1944 and 1945 with 1,498 units, the development consists primarily of two-story row houses spread over 190 acres (0.77 km2).

Saint Mary of the Assumption Church was a Catholic parish church of the Archdiocese of Chicago located in the Riverdale community area of Chicago, Illinois, United States. The parish was established in 1886. A new combined school and church building was constructed in 1917, followed by a purpose-built church—a brick-and-stone structure in a simplified Renaissance style—completed in 1957. In 2011, the parish merged with Queen of Apostles Parish in the suburb of Riverdale, Illinois. The former Saint Mary of the Assumption building has been vacant since that time. The church and its associated school were attended by Pope Leo XIV in his childhood through the 1960s, and his election as pope in 2025 has drawn renewed attention to the parish's legacy, now part of Christ Our Savior Parish.

130th is a upcoming rapid transit station for the Red Line as part of the Red Line Extension that will open in 2030. In January 2025, the CTA secured $1.9 billion for the project. The station will be constructed in Chicago's Riverdale neighborhood. The expansion will have job opportunities for the residents of Chicago’s far south side.

The Kensington community centered at E 115th St. was historically Italian. Today, the community is composed mostly of Hispanic's from Mexico where you can find churches, food, and corner stores in the tightly knit residential community.

The station is located at 137th Street and Illinois Street, and is 17.3 miles (27.8 km) away from the northern terminus at Millennium Station. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Rivedale is in zone D. As of 2018, Riverdale is the 172nd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 146 weekday boardings.Riverdale is the first station south of Kensington/115th Street, where the Blue Island Branch and the South Shore Line split from the right of way. It is built on a bridge embankment south of 137th Street, which also carries Amtrak's City of New Orleans, Illini, and Saluki trains. A wrought-iron fence exists between the sidewalk and the street below the station, and bridges are available beneath the tracks for 137th and 138th Streets. Parking is primarily available along Illinois Street and the railroad tracks between 137th and 139th Streets, but street-side parking can also be found on the opposite side of Illinois Street between 137th Street and 137th Place, and along 137th Street west of the railroad bridge.

George Washington Carver Military Academy (formerly known as George Washington Carver Area High School) is a public 4–year military high school located in the Riverdale area on the far south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Opened in 1947, The school is operated by the Chicago Public Schools. Carver is named for African-American scientist and educator George Washington Carver.

The childhood home of Pope Leo XIV (born Robert Prevost) is a single-family detached brick house located at 212 East 141st Place in Dolton, Illinois, United States. After the 2025 conclave, the house was sold to the village of Dolton to be preserved as a historic site and tourist attraction.

The Foster House and Stable is a Japanese-influenced house at 12147 South Harvard Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, United States. The house was designed in 1900 by Frank Lloyd Wright as a summer home for Stephen A. Foster, an attorney who worked for real estate developer who helped to build this part of the West Pullman neighborhood. It was designated a Chicago Landmark on May 9, 1996.The Foster House and Stable were designed during an experimental period by Frank Lloyd Wright and have some rare design features including Japanese-influenced upward roof flares at all of the roof peaks and on each dormer. The house and stable also incorporate an extremely rare tumblehome design throughout. The exterior walls slant inward from the base to the top. Since the interior walls are straight, the transition takes place in the exterior windows and doors which are wider at the bottom than they are at the top. The house and stable are unique examples and similar to wooden water tower construction with flared supports for added strength.After being on sale for several years, the home sold for $145,000 in March 2020.

The official address, according to Metra is Stewart Ridge, South of 120th Place. The actual location is between Stewart Avenue and Harvard Avenue, halfway between 120th Street and 122nd Street, which is 16.1 miles (25.9 km) away from the northern terminus at Millennium Station. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Stewart Ridge is in zone C. As of 2018, Stewart Ridge is the 228th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 19 weekday boardings.Like many Metra Electric stations, Stewart Ridge is little more than a pre-fabricated shelter on an elevated platform. No parking or bus service is available at this station.
