Leffrinckoucke

SS Clan Macalister was a Clan Line heavy-lift cargo liner. She was launched in 1930 in Scotland and sunk by enemy aircraft during the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940 with the loss of 18 of her crew. She was the largest ship to take part in the Dunkirk evacuation. She was the third Clan Line ship to be called Clan Macalister. The first was a steamship built in 1891 and sold to Furness, Withy in 1902. The second was a steamship built in 1903 and sunk by a U-boat in 1915.

Téteghem (French pronunciation: [tetɡɛm]; Dutch and West Flemish: Tetegem) is a former commune in the Nord department, northern France. On 1 January 2016, it was merged into the new commune Téteghem-Coudekerque-Village.

Téteghem-Coudekerque-Village (French pronunciation: [tetɡɛm kudkɛʁk vilaʒ]; Dutch: Tetegem-Koudekerke-Dorp; West Flemish: Tetegem-Koukerke) is a commune in the Nord department of northern France. The municipality was established on 1 January 2016 and consists of the former communes of Téteghem and Coudekerque-Village.

Second Lieutenant Arthur Rex Hurden Noss (22 January 1897 – 15 September 1917) was a British World War I flying ace credited with nine aerial victories. He won a Military Cross as Keith Park's gunner, and was killed in a flying accident shortly thereafter.

In 1971 it was merged into Dunkirk. It currently has 18,272 inhabitants (an almost ten-fold increase since 1825) in an area of 3.97 km2.

Zuydcoote [zɥitkot] (West Flemish and Dutch: Zuidkote) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France.

The canton of Dunkerque-2 is an administrative division of the Nord department, northern France. It was created at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Dunkirk. It consists of the following communes: Bray-Dunes Dunkirk (partly) Ghyvelde Leffrinckoucke Zuydcoote

Uxem (French pronunciation: [yksɛm]; from Flemish; Uksem in modern Dutch spelling) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. It is 10 km (6.2 mi) east of Dunkirk.

HMS Crested Eagle was a paddle steamer sunk in the Dunkirk evacuation. J. Samuel White built her in 1925 for the General Steam Navigation Company, and was requisitioned by the Admiralty during the World War II for anti-aircraft duties as part of the Thames Special Service Flotilla.

Stade des Flandres (lit. ‘Stadium of Flanders’) is an indoor sporting arena located in Dunkerque, France. The capacity of the arena is 2,500 people. It is currently home to the Dunkerque Handball Grand Littoral team. Salle Louis Dewerdt (or salle Dewerdt for short) was its original name. Louis Dewerdt was a local city councillor of the centre-right Union for French Democracy. Salle means "hall", i.e., a sports hall, or indoor arena.

The Stade Marcel-Tribut is a multi-purpose stadium in Dunkirk, France. It is the home ground of Ligue 2 club USL Dunkerque.

The Dunkirk Memorial is a Commonwealth War Graves Commission memorial to the missing that commemorates 4,505 missing dead of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF), most of whom fell prior to and during the Battle of Dunkirk in 1939 and 1940, in the fall of France during the Second World War. Located in the town cemetery of Dunkirk, France, the design by Commission architect Philip Hepworth features memorial panels, a shrine in the form of a shelter, and an engraved glass pane by John Hutton. Those commemorated include soldiers lost on ships sunk during the evacuation, as well as a recipient of the Victoria Cross. The memorial was completed some 17 years after the events it marks. It was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in 1957, in front of visiting dignitaries, and hundreds of veterans and relatives of those who died. Later commemorations held here include the 75th anniversary in 2015.
