The Division of Maribyrnong is an Australian electoral division in the state of Victoria. It is located in the inner north-western suburbs of Melbourne. Suburbs include Aberfeldie, Airport West, Avondale Heights, Essendon, Footscray, Gowanbrae, Keilor East, Maribyrnong, Moonee Ponds, Niddrie, West Footscray and Tullamarine. Due to redistributions, the division has been slowly moving west and changed with the introduction of the Division of Fraser in 2018. According to the 2011 census, Maribyrnong has the highest proportion of Catholics in any Commonwealth Electoral Division in Australia with 41.6% of the population.

Sunshine North is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 13 km (8.1 mi) west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Brimbank local government area. Sunshine North recorded a population of 12,047 at the 2021 census.

Defence Explosive Factory Maribyrnong is a heritage-listed military installation and former munitions factory at Cordite Avenue, Maribyrnong, Victoria, Australia. It was added to the Australian Commonwealth Heritage List on 22 June 2004.The site comprises the Explosives Factory Maribyrnong (EFM) and the adjacent Materials Research Laboratory (Explosives Ordnance Division) (MRL)(EOD) and the Engineering Development Establishment (EDE) and Army and Airforce Canteen Services areas. The site is bounded on the west, north and north-east by the Horseshoe Bend of the Maribyrnong River, in the east by the western and southern boundaries of the former CSIRO research station (but including the sites of Fisher Stables and Raleigh House), the Maribyrnong Community Centre and the Migrant Hostel, and Cordite Avenue in the south.

Knights Stadium is an Australian soccer stadium in Sunshine North, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. Built in 1989, it is used by the Melbourne Knights as a home ground in the NPL Victoria competition, and previously in the National Soccer League (NSL). The Knights were one of only a handful of clubs in the NSL to actually own their home ground.The land at Somers Street, which had been a Village drive through cinema, was bought and developed largely through donations and volunteer work from the local Croatian community. The idea was that if 1000 people each donated $300 that would equal $300,000, more than enough to purchase the land. The stadium holds approximately 15,000 people. It consists of a seated main stand (the Mark Viduka Stand) which has a capacity of 4,000 and open standing-room terracing around the rest of the stadium. The largest crowd at the stadium came in 2000 at a National Soccer League match between the Melbourne Knights and South Melbourne, it drew a crowd of 11,500. The Stadium complex covers around 12.5 acres (51,000 m2). It has three pitches, including the main pitch. The complex also contains the Melbourne Croatia club rooms and the Knights Sports Gym (an open to the public member's boxing / fitness gymnasium under the stadium). The facility has two car parks with 700 spaces. The stadium is also home to the Melbourne Croatia Soccer Club, which currently owns the stadium with the Melbourne Knights serving as tenants. This came about in 2006 when the Melbourne Knights and Melbourne Croatia Soccer Club Inc. separated and become two separate legal entities. The beginning of 2008 saw Knights Stadium facilities receive its most significant face-lift since the grandstand was first built with the main pitch being re-laid, as well as renovations on both the grandstand and terraces. In the 2009 season the stadium's name was changed from Knights Stadium to Mansion Stadium, after online betting giant Mansion88, became the club's major sponsor and bought the naming rights to the stadium. This was a temporary naming deal for the 2009 season. Their sponsorship deal has since ended and the name then returned to that of Knights Stadium. In 2011, the club replaced 900 old and broken seats in order to host the first round of the 2011 Australasian Supercross Championships. In 2016, Knights spent around $100,000 on Stadium upgrades, including further asphalting of the car-park and a replacement of the old, tall fence, with a smaller, more viewer-friendly, fence, bringing it in line with most other premium stadiums around the State.

The former ETA Foods Factory is a heritage-listed building as an important Modernist industrial building in Victoria, Australia, notable for its glass curtain wall design. The building was constructed in 1957 in Braybrook, a suburb of Melbourne, on Ballarat Road.

Maribyrnong Immigration Detention Centre was an Australian immigration detention facility in Maribyrnong, Victoria. The centre was originally opened in 1950, as the Maribyrnong Migrant Hostel, then later the Midway (Migrant) Hostel in the late 1960s. The Phillip Migrant Hostel was added later. It closed on 31 December 2018.The Maribyrnong Immigration Detention Centre was opened in 1983, set up for people who had over-stayed their visas, had their visa cancelled, or who had been denied entry into the country through international airports and seaports. Maribyrnong Immigration Detention Centre was operated by Global Solutions Limited, formerly part of Group 4 Securicor on behalf of the Australian Government from 27 August 2003, along with all other Australian immigration detention centres until at least 2009.Most of the original facility became "The Student Village" (a student accommodation facility for two antecedents of Victoria University, plus RMIT and University of Melbourne) in 1989. Victoria University took over sole responsibility for the student accommodation in the 1990s. In the 2000s what was the Phillip Hostel was demolished and redeveloped as private housing. In January 2016 a report revealed that Maribyrnong was the harshest immigration prison in Australia, with guards handcuffing and using force against detainees at a far higher rate than in other immigration prisons.

Keilor East is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 13 km (8.1 mi) north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Brimbank and Moonee Valley local government areas. Keilor East recorded a population of 15,078 at the 2021 census.Keilor East is bounded in the west by the Maribyrnong River in the City of Brimbank, in the north by the Calder Freeway, in the east by Hoffmans Road, and in the south by Buckley Street, Steele Creek and Rosehill Road.

Maidstone tram depot is a future depot on the Yarra Trams network in Melbourne. To be built off Hampstead Road near the corner of Williamson Road, Maidstone, it will be the home depot for the G class trams and was the site of the former Maribyrnong Migrant Hostel. The project will involve building a spur pair of tracks west on Williamson Road from tram route 82 to turn South into Hampstead Road and then turn west into the new facility.

The Afton Street Conservation Reserve is situated along the middle reaches of the Maribyrnong River in Essendon West, Melbourne. It is within the City of Moonee Valley and is 17 hectares (42 Acres).

Essendon West is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 10 km (6.2 mi) north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Moonee Valley local government area. Essendon West recorded a population of 1,559 at the 2021 census.Essendon West is bounded in the west by the Steele Creek, in the north by Rosehill Road, in the east by Afton Street and Hoffmans Road, and in the south by the Maribyrnong River. Essendon West is primarily residential with a range of housing ranging from inter war Californian Bungalows to post war dwellings to more modern homes.

Braybrook College is a state secondary college located in the suburb of Braybrook which is located in Melbourne's western suburbs.

The Maribyrnong River Viaduct (also known locally as the Quarter Mile Bridge) carries the Albion–Jacana railway line, Melbourne across the Maribyrnong River in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. It is located near the E J Whitten Bridge, and is almost 400 metres long (hence the Quarter Mile name). It was built in 1927–29 by the Victorian Railways Construction Branch, being the largest trestle bridge in Australia when completed in June, 1929. Until the completion of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the viaduct was also the highest railway bridge in Australia. It employed 200 people during its construction, with one fatality, and is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.With a length of 383 m (1,257 ft), and a height of 55 m (180 ft) above the water level, it is the second-highest bridge in Victoria after the West Gate Bridge (58 metres) The main traffic over the bridge is freight services, but it also carries two passenger services, the Melbourne to Sydney NSW TrainLink XPT, and the Melbourne-Albury V/Line service which now runs on standard gauge.
