The Beech Grove Shops is a railway maintenance facility in Beech Grove, Indiana, outside Indianapolis. Beech Grove is Amtrak's primary maintenance facility. It also contains a very large freight yard.

Beech Grove is designated an "excluded city" under Indiana law, as it is not part of the consolidated government of Indianapolis and Marion County.

The Marion County Fair is an annual fair held in Marion County, Indiana, United States. The fair was first held in 1930 and usually runs for ten days in late June, except that in 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the fair was moved to July 11–19. The fair maintains a rural theme despite being located in the most populous county in Indiana, with 4-H exhibits, live music, traditional dance shows, and historical displays. There was no fair between 1942 and 1945 because of World War II.

Anderson–Thompson House, also known as Thompson–Schultz House , is a historic home located in Franklin Township, Marion County, Indiana. It was built between about 1855 and 1860, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, ell shaped, Gothic Revival style dwelling. It rests on a low brick foundation, has a steeply-pitched gable roof with ornately carved brackets, and is sheathed in board and batten siding.: 2–3 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The Indianapolis Baptist Temple is an Independent Baptist church based in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. The church's building was seized by the U.S. federal government after the church refused to withhold taxes from employees' paychecks for 16 years. The founding pastor of the church, Greg J. Dixon, died in October 2019 aged 87.

The Indianapolis Speedrome is the oldest operating figure 8 track in the United States as it opened in 1941. It is believed by many historians that this is the first figure 8 track where cars intersect. The Speedrome is home to the World Figure 8 Championships, the Annual Spring Shootout, and the 3 Hour Endurance Race.The Speedrome is the USAC's most active track with 496 events held, and also produced Tony Stewart’s maiden USAC win on August 9, 1991.

Christian Park School No. 82 is a historic school building located at Indianapolis, Indiana. It was built in 1931, and is a two-story, rectangular, Colonial Revival style brick building with a two-story addition built in 1955. It has a gable roof with paired end chimneys, balustrade, and an octagonal cupola.: 5–6 The building was originally known as "New" School 82 because it replaced "Old" School 82, which was a temporary building nearby on the same street. The student bodies from both "Old" School 82 and School 77 were merged into the new building when it opened. E. F Echolds was the first principal of the new school.The school was named for Christian Park, which is directly west of the school. After the death of the well-known physician Wilmer Christian in 1923, his wife Edna had donated 75 acres (30 ha) to the city of Indianapolis for a public park.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Franklin Township is one of the nine townships of Marion County, Indiana, United States. Located in the southeast corner of the county, it has been subsumed into the city of Indianapolis along with most of the rest of the county. It contains the communities of Acton, Wanamaker, and the eastern portion of the excluded city of Beech Grove. Franklin Township was organized in the 1820s. Franklin Township is one of the last areas in Marion County to see heavy suburban land development from the outward expansion of Indianapolis. This is primarily because of a history of family farms in the area, but is also due to various civic efforts to maintain a rural atmosphere in the area over time. The population of the township as of the 2020 census was 65,788 up from 32,080 in 2000. The twofold increase in population ranks Franklin Township as the fastest growing of Marion County's nine townships during that timeframe. The township has a median income of $70,000.

Southport is an excluded city in Marion County, Indiana, United States. The population was 2,123 at the 2020 census, up from 1,712 in 2010.
