Harcourt House was a palatial residence built in about 1722 by Thomas Archer on Cavendish Square. The main structure was largely demolished in 1906 leaving only the southern wing on the corner with Margaret Street, now Flanders House. The southern wing of the building survives today as 1A Cavendish Square. The palladian residence Archer designed was the centre-piece of the west side of Cavendish Square, London for nearly two centuries. Archer's building was built for Robert Benson, 1st Baron Bingley, but was renamed to Harcourt House after it was bought by Simon Harcourt, 1st Viscount Harcourt. The house was significantly altered by his grandson Simon Harcourt, 1st Earl Harcourt. It was later the residence of William Cavendish-Scott-Bentinck, 5th Duke of Portland, Lord of the Manor of Marylebone, and John Campbell, 2nd Marquess of Breadalbane. The house was empty till 1906 when the centre and north of the house was demolished to make way for a development of luxury flats, also called Harcourt House. LaSalle Investment Management sold that building, occupying two thirds of the original site, to the Sunley Group in 2013. A 3D reconstruction of the original building was made by Survey of London in 2015.

Holles Street is a street in Marylebone in the City of Westminster in central London that runs from the south side of Cavendish Square to Oxford Street.

The Diplomatic Academy of London (DAL), possibly also known as the London Academy of Diplomacy, is an institution that is not "recognised or "listed" (is unaccredited) in the United Kingdom. It says that it offers MA, MPhil and PhD Degrees and training programmes in Diplomatic Studies and International Relations on-line. It is little known among experts in the field, but attained a certain notoriety in the USA due a claimed association by Joseph Mifsud, who reportedly had sought to connect Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign with Russian governmental officials. Mr Mifsud says that he established the Academy.

The Regent Street Cinema is an independent British Cinema located on Regent Street, London. Opened in 1848 and regarded as "the birthplace of British cinema", the cinema featured the first motion picture shown in the United Kingdom. Today, the cinema screens both independent and studio films in the heart of Central London.

Winged Figure (BH 315) is a 1963 sculpture by British artist Barbara Hepworth. One of Hepworth's best known works, it has been displayed in London since April 1963, on Holles Street near the junction with Oxford Street, mounted on the south-east side of the John Lewis department store. It is estimated that the sculpture is seen by approximately 200 million people each year. It was granted a Grade II* listing in January 2016.

The Oxford Circus fire occurred on Friday 23 November 1984 at 9.50pm at Oxford Circus station on the London Underground. Oxford Circus station is in the heart of London's shopping district and is served by three deep-level tube lines: the Bakerloo line, Central line and Victoria line. The three lines are linked by a complex network of tunnels and cross-passages which all converge to a common booking hall situated beneath the junction of Oxford Street and Regent Street. The fire started in a materials store at the south end of the northbound Victoria line platform, which was being used by contractors working on the modernisation of the station. It gutted the northbound Victoria line platform tunnel and the passages leading off it. The adjacent northbound Bakerloo line platform suffered smoke damage, as did the escalator tunnel and the booking hall. Other areas of the station were undamaged. The most likely cause of the fire was a smoker discarding smoking materials through a ventilation grille into the materials store, which ignited rags or paint thinner.

The Embassy of Haiti in London is the diplomatic mission of Haiti in the United Kingdom. It is located in Swedenborg House in the Bloomsbury district. It was formerly located just off Cavendish Square in Marylebone in a Grade II listed building; the exterior has a blue plaque commemorating the architect George Edmund Street who lived in the building.
