Zwalm

Beerlegem is a village belonging to the municipality of Zwalm. It is located in the Flemish Ardennes, the hilly southern part of the province of East Flanders, Belgium. Until 1970, it was an independent municipality.

The Molenberg (Mill Hill) is a hill in the municipality of Zwalm, in the Belgian province of East Flanders, with its top at 56 m. It is the one of the many hills in the Zwalm region, just north of the Flemish Ardennes. The road of the Molenberg has a roughly-paved cobbled surface, which is classified and protected as a landscape monument. At the foot of the hill there is a 13th-century water mill, the Moldergemmolen, from which the hill takes its name.

The archaeological museum of Velzeke (Dutch: Archeocentrum Velzeke) is a museum located on the Paddestraat in Velzeke-Ruddershove in Zottegem, Belgium. It focuses on prehistorical times and the Gallo-Roman period. The museum opened its doors in 1972.The museum is located in Velzeke, a vicus where two Roman roads crossed (Boulogne-Tongeren and Bavay-north). It is the starting point for the signposted tourist route Viae Romanae Velzeke-Bavay which follows the old Roman road to Bavay. Archeologists found several Roman artefacts on the archaeological site next to the museum. In 1971 a bronze statue was found, known as the 'Venus of Velzeke'. A hoard of third-century Roman coins has been discovered at Velzeke, including 91 denarii (ranging in date from the reign of Septimius Severus to that of Gordian III) and 93 antoniniani (ranging in date from the reign of Elagabalus to that of Postumus). Since 2021 new excavations take place on the site. An archaeological park will be built, comprising reconstructed Roman villas and roads. In 1998 a statue of Julius Caesar was erected on the village square close to the museum.

Velzeke-Ruddershove is a double village in the Denderstreek in the province of East Flanders in Belgium, currently part of the municipality of Zottegem. The two villages of Velzeke and Ruddershove were merged in 1825. The settlement of Velzeke dates back from at least the Roman era, when it was a vicus situated at a crossroads in the network of Roman roads in Gallia Belgica. The municipality merged into Zottegem in 1970.

Baaigem is one of the six villages belonging to the municipality Gavere. It is located on the edge of the Flemish Ardennes, the hilly southern part of the province of East Flanders, Belgium, and used to be an independent municipality till the end of 1976. Baaigem is 3.79 square kilometer large, and had 565 inhabitants on 31 December 2005. Its population is the smallest among the six villages of Gavere.

Elst is a village belonging to the municipality of Brakel. It is located in the Denderstreek in the province East Flanders in Belgium.

The Leberg is a hill and uphill street in Elst, part of the municipality of Brakel, in the Belgian province of East Flanders. Its top is at 99 m altitude, making it one of the highest hills of the Zwalm region, just north of the Flemish Ardennes. The road has an asphalt surface and links the valley town of Elst to the hilltop town of Zegelsem.

Michelbeke is a village in the municipality of Brakel, Belgium. It is located in the Denderstreek and in the Flemish Ardennes, the hilly southern part of the province of East Flanders, Belgium. It was itself a municipality until the fusion of the municipalities on 1 January 1971.

Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove is a village situated in the municipality of Zottegem, Belgium. It is located in the Flemish Ardennes, the hilly southern part of the province of East Flanders. Its name refers to Saint Gaugericus (En. Saint Gery), Bishop of Cambrai during the 7th century. Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove used to contain two small heerlijkheden which were part of the barony of Zottegem.Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove in an agricultural community. In 1970, the municipality merged into Zottegem.

The Berendries is an uphill street in Michelbeke, part of the municipality of Brakel, in the Belgian province of East Flanders. Its top is at 98 m altitude, making it the highest hill of the Zwalm region, just north of the Flemish Ardennes. The road has an asphalt surface and links the valley town of Michelbeke to the hilltop town of Sint-Maria-Oudenhove.

Zegelsem is a village in the municipality of Brakel in the province of East Flanders, Belgium. Zegelsem is an agricultural community in the Flemish Ardennes. It is located about 26 kilometres (16 mi) south of Ghent.

The Zwalm or Zwalmbeek is a tributary of the Scheldt and one of the main watercourses in the Flemish Ardennes in the southern part of the Belgian province of East Flanders.
