Cadbury is a village in Devon, England. Cadbury Castle is nearby. The 15th-century Church of St Michael and All Angels features a Norman font. The church was restored in 1857 by William White, with Frederick Coleridge serving as its vicar from 1855 to 1906.

Thorverton is a civil parish and village in Devon, England, about a mile west of the River Exe and 8 miles (13 km) north of Exeter. It is almost centrally located between Exeter and the towns of Tiverton, Cullompton and Crediton, and contains the hamlets of Yellowford and Raddon. The parish is surrounded, clockwise from the north, by the parishes of Bickleigh, Rewe, Nether Exe, Brampford Speke, Upton Pyne, Shobrooke, Stockleigh Pomeroy and Cadbury. Most of the eastern boundary of the parish is formed by the River Exe and the land rises westwards to 800 feet (240 m) at the border with Cadbury.The population of the parish was 674 as of the 2011 Census. Thorverton is a major part of the Cadbury electoral ward. The population of this ward at the 2011 Census was 1,602.Thorverton has two churches and two public houses. The Millennium Green provides walking alongside the stream which runs through the centre of the village. The Memorial Hall provides a centre for entertainment, with a monthly Saturday Market for local produce. A local village magazine, Focus on Thorverton, is produced by volunteers.

Cadbury Castle is an Iron Age Hillfort close to Bickleigh, Devon, England. It was later encamped by the Parliamentarian forces during the English Civil War under Thomas Fairfax when he laid siege to Bickleigh Castle. The site is situated some 250 metres above sea level overlooking a series of valleys and down to the Exe Valley. Clear views are afforded of other hill forts including Cranmore Castle, Huntsham castle, Dolbury, Stoke Hill, Raddon Top, Posbury and Cotley Castle. Access is via a public footpath signposted from Cadbury village.

Upton Pyne is a parish and village in Devon, England. The parish lies just north west of Exeter, mainly between the River Exe and River Creedy. The village is located north of Cowley and west of Brampford Speke and Stoke Canon. It has a population of 539.

Brampford Speke ( BRAM-fərdz-beek) is a small village in Devon, 4 miles (6 km) to the north of Exeter. The population is 419. It is located on red sandstone cliffs overlooking the river Exe. Its sister village of Upton Pyne lies to its southwest, and Stoke Canon is across the river, to the east. To the south is the hamlet of Cowley with its chapel of ease, which was formerly part of the ecclesiastical parish of Brampford Speke. Brampford Speke has a Church of England parish church dedicated to St Peter. There is a primary school in the heart of the village near the river Exe, which was built as a national school in 1867. A baptist chapel was built near the school in 1894. The village also has a corner shop/tea room and a local pub, the Agricultural Inn (formerly the Lazy Toad). The village contains a number of fine houses, including the former landowner's Brampford House in the centre of the village and some traditional cob and thatch cottages and farmhouses.

Cadeleigh is a small village in the county of Devon in England. It sits in the hills above the valley of the River Exe and is about 15 km (9 miles) north of Exeter and 6 km (4 miles) southwest of Tiverton. The village has a church that is dedicated to St. Bartholomew and dates from the early part of the 15th century, although this is probably a rebuilding of a much older 12th-century church. It contains the monument of Sir Simon Leach (1567-1638), Sheriff of Devon in 1624, the largest of its type in any Devon parish church.There is a single public house in Cadeleigh, which is called the Cadeleigh Arms. Between 1885 and 1963 Cadeleigh also had a railway station, although it was actually located much closer to the nearby village of Bickleigh (in fact, the railway station was named "Cadeleigh and Bickleigh" before 1906).

Nether Exe or Netherexe is a very small village and civil parish in Devon, England. It lies near the River Exe, as its name suggests, about 5 miles (8 km) north of Exeter. The Church of St John the Baptist is a small stone church set amidst fields close to the river south-west of the present day village, though there was once a manor house nearby. The church is a Grade I listed building built in the late 15th century. Services are still held in the church, if infrequently.The hamlet of Netherexe gives its name to the "Netherexe Parishes", a group of 8 Anglican parishes with 11 churches under the pastoral care of a single vicar; though the smallest of them all, Netherexe is almost at the geographical centre of the group. Richard de Lucy, of Devon, held part of Netherexe, Hayridge Hundred, Devon in 1301.

Stockleigh Pomeroy is a village and civil parish in Devon, England at the foot of the Raddon Hills. The parish church which is dedicated to St Mary the Virgin has a Norman doorway.In 2016, a new village hall was opened to replace the Nissen hut used formerly which was opened in 1950. The new hall was built using grants from various bodies as well as contributions from the local community of both time and money.

Bickleigh Castle is a fortified manor house that stands on the banks of the River Exe at Bickleigh in Devon, England. Once considerably larger, Bickleigh now comprises a group of buildings from various periods which together formed a water castle. The main building was destroyed during the English Civil War, however other buildings, mostly arranged around a central courtyard survived. The castle is frequently open to the public by appointment, but it serves principally as a wedding venue. The River Exe runs through the grounds.

The River Culm flows through the Devon Redlands in Devon, England and is the longest tributary of the River Exe. It rises in the Blackdown Hills at a spring near RAF Culmhead in Somerset, and flows west through Hemyock, then Culmstock (in the Culm Valley) to Uffculme. The river turns south, through Cullompton (and alongside the M5 motorway), skirting the northern boundary of Killerton Park to join the River Exe on the north-western outskirts of Exeter. The name of the river is thought to mean 'knot' or 'tie', in reference to the river's twists and loops.
