Shobrooke is a village, parish and former manor in Devon, England. The village is situated about 1 1/2 miles north-east of Crediton. It is located close to Shobrooke park. The river Shobrooke Lake flows through the village. It had a population of 537 according to the 2011 census. The name Shobrooke is derived from the old English words of succa and brōc, and translates as goblin brook.

Cheriton Fitzpaine is a village in Devon, England, located 4 miles (7 km) north-east of Crediton. The population of the parish in the 2011 Census was 556.The village is noted for its historic buildings, including the old Primary School, the longest thatched house in England. Cheriton Fitzpaine is a major part of the electoral ward Way, with a 2011 population of 1,603.

Little Fulford was an historic estate in the parishes of Shobrooke and Crediton, Devon. It briefly share ownership before 1700 with Great Fulford, in Dunsford, about 9 miles (14 km) to the south-west. The Elizabethan mansion house originally called Fulford House was first built by Sir William Peryam (1534-1604), a judge and Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer. It acquired the diminutive epithet "Little" in about 1700 to distinguish it from Fulford House, Dunsford and was at some time after 1797 renamed Shobrooke House, to remove all remaining confusion between the two places. Peryam's mansion was demolished in 1815 and a new house erected on a different site away from the River Creedy. This new building was subsequently remodelled in 1850 in an Italianate style. It was destroyed by fire in 1945 and demolished, with only the stable block remaining today. The landscaped park survives, open on the south side to the public by permissive access, and crossed in parts by public rights of way, with ancient large trees and two sets of ornate entrance gates with a long decorative stone multiple-arched bridge over a large ornamental lake. The large pleasure garden survives, usually closed to the public, with walled kitchen garden and stone walls and balustrades of terraces. The park and gardens are Grade II listed in the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. The estate was the home successively of the families of Peryam, Tuckfield, Hippisley and lastly the Shelley baronets, in whose possession it remains today.

Newton St Cyres railway station is a railway station serving the village of Newton St Cyres, Devon, England. It is served by Great Western Railway trains on the Tarka and Dartmoor lines. It is on the Tarka Line to Barnstaple, 4 miles 21 chains (6.9 km) from Exeter Central at milepost 175.75 from London Waterloo.

Raddon Top is the highest point of the Raddon Hills, a small ridge of hills in the Shobrooke area of Mid Devon. The summit is at some 235 metres above sea level, making it a significant feature in the surrounding countryside.There is an unclassified road that traverses the hill which is the main route from the village of Cheriton Fitzpaine to Exeter. There were earthworks on the summit, but by the 16th century these had almost been ploughed away. Archaeological excavations in 1994 revealed remains of an Early Iron Age palisaded enclosure and an Iron Age hillfort with timber ramparts. The same excavations also uncovered a much earlier Neolithic causewayed enclosure.

Cadeleigh is a small village in the county of Devon in England. It sits in the hills above the valley of the River Exe and is about 15 km (9 miles) north of Exeter and 6 km (4 miles) southwest of Tiverton. The village has a church that is dedicated to St. Bartholomew and dates from the early part of the 15th century, although this is probably a rebuilding of a much older 12th-century church. It contains the monument of Sir Simon Leach (1567-1638), Sheriff of Devon in 1624, the largest of its type in any Devon parish church.There is a single public house in Cadeleigh, which is called the Cadeleigh Arms. Between 1885 and 1963 Cadeleigh also had a railway station, although it was actually located much closer to the nearby village of Bickleigh (in fact, the railway station was named "Cadeleigh and Bickleigh" before 1906).

Cadbury Castle is an Iron Age Hillfort close to Bickleigh, Devon, England. It was later encamped by the Parliamentarian forces during the English Civil War under Thomas Fairfax when he laid siege to Bickleigh Castle. The site is situated some 250 metres above sea level overlooking a series of valleys and down to the Exe Valley. Clear views are afforded of other hill forts including Cranmore Castle, Huntsham castle, Dolbury, Stoke Hill, Raddon Top, Posbury and Cotley Castle. Access is via a public footpath signposted from Cadbury village.

Stockleigh English is a village and civil parish in Devon, England. It has a 15th-century church, Saint Mary the Virgin, which was restored 1878–83.Stockleigh Court in the parish is a grade II listed building which was the home of the Bellew family who lived at Stockleigh Court from the 16th to 20th century.

Poughill (pronounced "po-il") is a village and civil parish in Devon, England. It lies 5 miles (8 km) north of Crediton. In 2011, the parish had a population of 216.Anciently, Poughill was held by the Poughill or Poghill family and was recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086. The topynym, recorded in the Domesday Book as Pochehille, is either from the Old English pohha "pouch" and hyll "hill", meaning "hill by a pouch or hollow", or from a man named Pohha.The historical map of Poughill (in 1945) shows a number of contour lines where land reaches 600 feet (180 m) above sea level. This variation in relief is shown today, particularly in the image of Poughill towards Cheriton Fitzpaine.

Downes House is situated about one mile east of Crediton in Devon. The house is an 18th-century Palladian re-modelling of an earlier house. It was classed Grade II* listed on 20 May 1985. Nearby is the site of a Roman villa, revealed by crop-marks as a rectangular enclosure containing a winged-corridor structure. In 2012 the estate comprised 1400 acres, including the Home Farm (419 acres), Fordton Barton (203 acres), Uton Barton (327 acres), Dunscombe Farm (246 acres) and other land 110 acres and parkland.
