Schaumburg

The County of Schaumburg (German: Grafschaft Schaumburg), until ca. 1485 known as Schauenburg, was a state of the Holy Roman Empire, located in the present German state of Lower Saxony. Its territory was more or less congruent with the present district Landkreis Schaumburg.

It is situated approximately 8 km southwest of Stadthagen, and 15 km east of Minden. Obernkirchen is a small town in the shadows of the Bückeberg, a hill range in the Weser Uplands. It overlooks the vast lower lying part of the old county of Schaumburg Lippe, now the district of Schaumburg, with the town of Bückeburg at its feet.

Schaumburg Castle (German: Burg Schaumburg) is a castle in the town of Rinteln in the district of Schaumburg in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is owned by the former ruling family of Schaumburg-Lippe.

The Bückeberg Formation is a geologic formation and Lagerstätte in Germany. It preserves fossils dating back to the Berriasian of the Cretaceous period. The Bückeberg Formation has previously been considered to constitute the "German Wealden" in reference to its similarity to the Wealden Group in the United Kingdom. More recently it has been considered a group, containing the Isterberg and Deister Formations. The plesiosaur Brancasaurus, an indeterminate ankylosaur referred to Hylaeosaurus, the turtle Dorsetochelys are known from the formation.

Heeßen is a municipality in the district of Schaumburg, in Lower Saxony, Germany.

Auetal is a municipality in the district of Schaumburg, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 10 km south of Stadthagen, and 22 km east of Minden. Its seat is in the village Rehren. The coat of arms features an image of the "Tilly-Buche", (1739-1994) a dwarf beech tree which existed in the area.

Bad Eilsen (West Low German: Ahlsen) is a municipality in the district of Schaumburg, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 11 km (6.8 mi) southwest of Stadthagen, and 13 km (8.1 mi) southeast of Minden. Bad Eilsen is also the seat of the Samtgemeinde ("collective municipality") Eilsen.
